Chapter 226
“I just ran into Bonnie” I started, looking at Neil.
Nell frowned and the grin on Kitty’s face behind him faded a lot.
She seemed to be more scared of Bonnie, but didn’t seem to give a damn about me, his ex-wife.
“I came to Dreamscape District to discuss cooperation with Evershine Enterprises. They were very friendly to me before I came here, but now they’re avoiding me and chatting happily with Bonnie instead. Don’t tell me this has nothing to do with you” I said bluntly.
Neil’s expression didn’t change, but Kitty looked surprised.
I ignored her reaction, waiting for Neil to respond.
“You think every bad thing that happens has something to do with me? Am I really that bad in your eyes?” Neil retorted angrily. There was a chill in his eyes.
“You don’t have to get mad. If I’m wrong, I apologize. After seeing Neil’s expression, I knew he wasn’t lying.
Bonnie was just using his name to provoke me.
I was about to get in my car and leave when Ned stopped me, “Don’t rush off. If you’re suspicious of me, why don’t you confront me about it?”
Kitty’s eyes were darting between me and Neil. She looked very concerned.
She suddenly grabbed Neil’s arm, “Why are you so angry? You treated her so poorly, it’s normal for her to suspect you!”
Neil looked really annoyed. He shoved Kitty’s hand off and said impatiently. “Mind your own business!”
Kitty was taken aback and then plastered on an awkward smile. She wasnt easily embarrassed. She had been getting along well with Neil, so she probably thought she was special to him.
But she quickly shrugged it off. “Rena, I wanted to help you deal with him, but he’s too pissed. I cant help you”
I smiled at her, “Thanks.”
Neil glanced at Kitty, then grabbed my wrist and walked off to the side. “Let’s talk.”
Kitty watched us walk away, waiting patiently.
Nell wanted to talk about how he thought his image in my mind was too negative, and he hoped I could change my opinion,
I blamed almost every difficulty and misfortune I encountered on him. He couldn’t stand it.
But it wasn’t my fault. During my past life, he left a deep psychological scar on me. He used so many extreme methods to torment my family, so I would unconsciously think all the bad things were done by him
And Bonnie kept misleading me on purpose

Neil’s face seemed to relax a little. He looked towards Kitty, but she was gone.
His eyes had a strange look. I tried to speak in a soothing tone, “You should go find her.”

“Really? Neil, you’ve been treating her differently. Haven’t you noticed?” I felt a little sad. “I used to cling to you like that, but you didn’t treat me as well as you’re treating her. You wouldnt even talk to me”
If back then, he could have treated me in the way he currently treated Kitty, maybe there would still be a future between us. But unfortunately, there wasn’t.
Neil was disgusted by what I said, “You’re not her, so of course I won’t treat you the same.”
I found it quite ironic to see him deny it.
“If you dont admit it, then forget it. Time will tell.” I took a deep breath, “Alright, I have things to do. Bye!”
I turned and hurried away, leaving Neil alone by the roadside.
Autumn in Dreamscape District was cold, and the roadside was covered with red maple leaves. Nell stood among the fallen leaves, getting further and further away from me.
I thought this business trip would end in failure. I was prepared for the worst. However, on the eve of my return to Rosemont, I received a call from Mr. Daniel of Evershine Enterprises. He said they were willing to cooperate with my company and requested to meet with me immediately to sign the
contract
“Mr. Daniel, I’m looking forward to our cooperation!”
After signing the contract, I shook hands with Mr. Daniel and asked the question that had been bothering me, 1 don’t quite understand. What made you change your mind?”
Mr. Daniel laughed and replied, “No particular reason. I just feel that your company is strong, so I hope to cooperate with you for us both to prosper in the future”
Although he said that, I always felt that things were not as simple as they seemed to be. Then, Mr. Daniel received a phone call, “Alright, I’ll come and have

dinner with you right away. You’re all grown up, but you still need your dad to accompany you for meals?”
After sending Mr. Daniel off, I returned to the hotel. Along the way, I felt like I was dreaming.
When I reached the door of my room, I found Bonnie waiting for me
She looked furious. She lost control of her emotions as soon as she saw me, “Irene, what trick did you use to snatch Evershine Enterprises? You’re so
shameless!”
“We’re just competing fairly. How am I shameless? You’re being very rude, accusing me like this” I said with a smile.
“You went to Neil, didn’t you? You know he wants to get back together with you, so you deliberately used him. You know he’s my boyfriend now! Isn’t that shameless?” Bonnie was furious. Obviously, this cooperation was very important to her as well
Before I could answer, Neil’s voice came from behind me, “I didn’t help her.”
Neil’s appearance made Bonnie pull a total 180. She was all joy and surprise, then ran over to him with a pitiful look, grabbing his hand, 1 knew you’d come looking for me!”
I turned to look at Neil with amusement dancing in my eyes
Busy bee, wasn’t he?
“Mr. Whitmore, thanks for clearing things up.” I was feeling a bit lighter at this point, so I flashed him a smile.
Bonnie wasn’t having any of it though, “Just a few days ago, Mr. Daniel and I were getting along just fine. We were about to sign a contract. How could he possibly change his mind out of the blue if nobody had meddled?”
She turned to look at Neil, “Neil, I’m your girlfriend. I’m the one who can give you what you want, right?”
Neil shot me a meaningful glance, and then, in a barely audible volume, he agreed.
I gave them a frosty smile. The word loyalty” was clearly not in Neil’s dictionary. I had long since seen his true colors.
What I didn’t get, though, was what exactly Bonnie could give Neil that he wanted? Her words seemed to have some hidden implication.
I lowered my gaze, avoiding their stares, ‘Carry on with your chat. I’m off to rest. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t disturb me anymore.”
