It was pretty late now. Even if there were guests at home, he didn’t have to rush back.
And Russel had always lived on his own, he only went home on weekends.
I knew that something must’ve happened. He didn’t tell me, but I could tell.
“Alright. It’s pouring outside, so be careful driving.” I glanced at the half-made bed, answering casually, “Well, saves me the trouble of making the bed.” Russel’s eyes were full of remorse and sadness. He came over and hugged me, I’m sorry, I’ve been so busy lately. I’ll spend more time with you, I promise.”
I didn’t say anything and just nodded in his arms.
Russel left, driving off into the heavy rain. I didn’t see him off, instead, I was folding up the blanket and sheets in the guest room to keep the dust off.
I had a hunch as to why Russel left. His parents probably found out that he was here tonight and forced him to come home. As for who told his parents, I could guess. It was definitely Neil.
But I didn’t blame Neil. Since the Dawson family’s opposition was inevitable, the sooner it happened, the better. The sooner the difficulty came, the sooner I could handle it.
The next morning, I got up after only a few hours of sleep and drove to the Dreamscape District. The only ones accompanying me were a driver and an

While I was waiting for the elevator, Bonnie finished checking in and asked, “Irene, didn’t you hear me say hello?”
“Ms. Finch, the elevator is here.” My assistant informed me.
I nodded and walked straight into the elevator without acknowledging Bonnie.
But I couldn’t stop Bonnie from getting in the elevator. I had to share the small space with her.
My driver and assistant were staying on a different floor. They left the elevator first, leaving only Bonnie and me. As the elevator doors slowly closed, she couldn’t help but say. “You think you can break up Neil and me with just Scarlett Mitchell?”
Did Bonnie think Scarlett was a pawn I placed to sabotage her relationship with Neil?
That was ridiculous.
“I don’t have time to waste on you. Don’t flatter yourself” I answered indifferently.
“Of course you wouldn’t waste time on me, but are you really willing to just give up Neil? Our reflections mirrored on the elevator doors.
Two years had passed, and while her demeanor had changed, she was still very young In contrast, I looked a little tired from the pressure.
I frowned, “If I wasn’t willing to let go, why would I file for divorce? I’m not an idiot.”
“You’re playing hard to get! You didn’t expect Neil to actually agree to the divorce!” Bonnie accused me passionately. “At first, Neil clearly didn’t love you. He loved me! It was all because of your scheming that he developed feelings for you!”

The elevator reached my floor. I didn’t care whether I was despicable or not. I took my fancy suitcase and walked out of the elevator to my room, using my keycard to open the door

“The one who’s going to secure the deal with Evershine Enterprises will be me!’ Bonnie waved her room key, looking very confident
Evershine Enterprises was the supplier I was trying to secure a deal with.
*Confidence is a good thing I sneered coldly before entering my room, leaving her standing outside my door.
Even though I verbally mocked Bonnie, I was also feeling uncertain. I didn’t have much work experience. This business trip was purely out of necessity.
After resting a bit in my room, I got to work. Before I knew it, it was already dark outside.
When it came to dinner time, I decided to have the hotel deliver the meal to my room.
After hearing the doorbell, I went to open the door, and the hotel staff pushed in a dining cart. After receiving my dinner, I was about to close the door “Neil, I’m here!” The door next door suddenly opened, and Bonnie’s joyful voice rang out.
She came out of her room wearing a white bathrobe. Her hair was wet, so she was probably just out of the shower.
Ned was just coming out of the elevator. His gaze passed over Bonnie and fell on me.
Bonnie looked back at me, and her eyes instantly filled with vigilance. She rushed towards Neil, trying to throw herself into his arms.
“I thought you weren’t coming! Bonnie cooed
Neil’s hand reluctantly circled Bonnie’s waist, not really hugging her
I quickly averted my gaze and closed the door.
Whether it was the hotel chef’s poor cooking or my lack of appetite, I found tonight’s dinner unappetizing. After only a few bites, I pushed the food aside. At night, after taking a shower, I got a call from Alicia, “Are you in the Dreamscape District right now?”
“Yes” I asked while drying my hair.
1 just got here too! Haha, which hotel are you at? I’ll come find you.” Alicia said cheerfully
She was also on a business trip. I gave her the hotel address and my room number, then called the front desk.
Half an hour later, Alicia showed up at my door, dragging her suitcase. She planned to spend the night here.
After settling her luggage, Alicia asked, “How’s the soundproofing here? Did you hear the couple next door arguing?”
“Next door? To the left or right?” I asked in surprise.
“Right! I heard it when I was passing by. If the soundproofing isn’t great, then if they squabble all night, we’re definitely not gonna catch any z’s.” Alicia pulled out a pair of earplugs. “Thank god I brought these! Teehee.”
Hold up, wasn’t Neil and Bonnie’s room on the right? Are they seriously arguing? This hotel was top-notch when it came to soundproofing. I hadn’t heard a peep.
The soundproofing here is pretty solid. I haven’t heard a thing.” I declined the earplugs she offered me, “Let them have it out.”
Alicia breathed a sigh of relief, “Alright then. I’m gonna take a shower and then crash on your bed for the night!”
“Off you go” I said, waving her off with a smile.
After Alicia went to shower, the doorbell rang again. My assistant had sent a message earlier saying there were some papers for me.
I opened the door and took the papers from my assistant, who then left. As I was about to close the door, I heard the door in the next room open, followed by Bonnie’s choked voice, “Get out!”
