No matter how much I cursed or warned him, he didn’t bat an eyelid. His phone rang a couple of times, but he outright ignored it.

By the time we finished, it was half past ten. Throughout the ordeal, Neil was the one doing all the action while I busied myself with cursing him,

I didn’t bother to shower, I just slipped on my dress and dragged my exhausted body out of the hotel.
When I got home, I got a call from Barbara Sands, “Rena, you’re not with Jameson? He said you ran into Neil?!”
“Yeah, Jameson chickened out when he recognized Neil and left me be,” I answered, soaking in the bathtub, with eyes closed and phone in hand.
“Oh dear, that’s unfortunatel And after Jameson left, what happened with Nel?” Barbara asked anxiously
The memories of Neil taking advantage of me gave me a headache.
I lied, “He demanded to know why I was there. I made up an excuse and left. Now, I’m just soaking in the bathtub at home.”
“Well, that’s good then I was really worried he might give you a hard time, Barbara sighed in relief, “You go ahead and enjoy your bath. I’m off to bed!” “Alright, good night”
After hanging up, I got out of the bathtub and dried off, then walked over to the mirror. My body was covered in bruises and bite marks, a gruesome sight Indeed

I couldn’t bear to tell her the truth, afraid it would upset her.
“Okay,” I replied, and she finally left.
I changed into my pajamas and crawled into bed, devoid of energy. The missed call notifications from Russel kept blinking on my phone screen. After some thought, I decided to call him back.
Russel picked up immediately. His usually calm voice was frantic, “Why did you agree to my mom’s demands? I’m willing to give up everything! I can forfeit my family’s wealth, and I can quit my job. All I want is the freedom to pursue my feelings!”
