Chapter 921
Liam leaned on her shoulder, his eyes already closed.
Then, very quickly, his breathing became steady.
Celeste thought to herself…
He fell asleep so quickly, is he joking?
Celeste looked at the man on her shoulder and whispered, “Don’t you want to sleep with me anymore?”
Liam didn’t respond
Celeste gently kissed his chin. “We’re ignoring the doctor’s advice, are we?”
Liam’s eyes twitched.
Celeste squinted. “Your trial period is over, you’re fired.”
Liam immediately opened his eyes and said, “I just fell asleep, I didn’t hear what you said. What?”
Celeste thought to herself…
Sometimes she seriously doubts Liam’s state when he’s drunk. You think he’s stupid, but he’s playing mind games with you. You think he’s not stupid, but he says things completely out of context–things he would never say when he’s sober.
“Why didn’t you tell me about such an important decision like getting a vasectomy?”
Liam frowned and, after a while, said, “You always ask about this.”
Celeste countered, “What’s wrong with asking? How would I know if I didn’t ask?”
“You always have to dig to the root of things–why and what I did, for whom, you obviously know–why do you need me to say it out loud? You never said you liked me, I don’t want to be the first to admit it
He buried his face deeper. “You obviously like my money more; if I admit to the things I did for you and you don’t care, I’d feel like a fool.”
Celeste was stunned “Who told you I liked your money more?”
Liam immediately accused her, saying, “You said it yourself.”
Celeste thought to herself…
When did I say that? Where did I say that? Why did I say that? Why can’t I remember?
Celeste felt wronged and retorted, “Isn’t it you who always say I have nothing besides my looks and zero IQ?”
Liam responded, Those were angry words during a fight, they don’t count. You said that to someone else, it means that’s what you really think.” Celeste decided to have a serious talk with him: “Who did I say that to? Don’t just frame me because I have a bad memory.”
“Trisha.”
Liam whispered, “You called her, I heard everything.”
Celeste suddenly remembered that there seemed to be such a thing, even more than once.
She complained about Liam to Trisha on the phone, saying if Liam wasn’t rich, his personality would never get him a wife.
When Trisha asked her why she didn’t divorce, she was too embarrassed to admit she still liked him, so she made up excuses, saying if it weren’t for his money, she would’ve divorced him long ago, etc. She didn’t know how many times she said these things to Trisha.
Almost every time, after an argument or a cold war with Liam, she vented to Trisha.
