Chapter 872
He lightly pursed his lips, pulled back a corner of the sheet for a peek, and his face immediately darkened.
Without a word, he let go and turned to walk away.
As soon as he left the room, he tried to contact Celeste, but no one answered the call.
Mason quickly dialed Trisha’s number.
Half–lying on the sofa, Trisha was yawning away, looking beat, while the man beside her just wouldn’t leave.
Upon hearing her phone ring, she picked it up
Nicolas stole a glance at her caller ID, pausing briefly
The caller ID read: Bentley Hottie
“Hello?”
“Ms. Colton, I am sorry to bother you. Is Celeste home? I need to contact her about something, but no one answered her phone.”
“Letti’s out partying. Probably not over yet. She said she’s going to have a few rounds tonight.”
Mason frowned. “Could you try reaching her? It’s late and I’m worried.”
“Huh? Oh, all right. I’ll let you know once I get hold of her.”
“Thanks a lot,” Mason replied.
After hanging up, Nicolas asked, “Who was that?”
Trisha ignored him and dialed Celeste’s number.
No one answered the first call.
Called a second time, still no answer. After seven or eight attempts, someone finally picked up.
Trisha let out a sigh of relief, complaining. “Letti, why did you take so long to answer? Are you guys done yet?”
There was no reply from the other end. A few seconds later, Liam’s deep voice came through.
“She’s not coming home tonight.”
Trisha was stunned.
“Wha–wha–wha–what…” she stammered for a long time, and finally said, “Where’s Letti?”
Liam hung up
Trisha was speechless.
She tried calling again, but the phone was switched off
“I’m starving” Nicolas turned to ask her, “Aren’t you hungry?”
Trisha glanced at him, “Don’t expect me to cook for you again!”
“Why haven’t you been going to the office these days? Nicolas asked.
As Trisha was typing a text to Mason, she replied, “We’ve wrapped up shooting, I’m on vacation now.”
“For how long?”
“Two months”
Nicolas said, “You’re a small–time showbiz employee with a meager salary. Are they planning to starve you to death by giving you a two–month break? Or maybe, they just don’t want you anymore?”
His words really got to her.
She was a script assistant, but her job included not only helping writers modify scripts but also dealing with miscellaneous tasks.
But something had happened recently.
Earlier this year, she found some inconsistencies in a script she was polishing. She thought some plotlines were unreasonable.
Having been in the industry for years, she wouldn’t just step in and change things. Instead, she delicately suggested a few adjustments.
Surprisingly, they handed her the job.
Polishing a script was one thing, but rewriting it was another. Trisha was hesitant to take on the task.
But they praised her and said if she did well, she could become a co–writer.
