Of course, he never thought Celeste would see it, much less that he would lose out on tasting her lunches because of this act
Celeste was stunned for a moment, “Don’t lie to me. You clearly said it didn’t taste good”
“It wasn’t particularly good, but it wasn’t bad either. When you cooked well, it was better than the food in the company cafeteria. When you didn’t, I needed to drink a lot of water to eat it. Overall, it was okay, at least I never got sick from eating the food you made.”
Celeste was speechless. “I didn’t ask for your opinion.”
Liam gave a little laugh and wrapped his arms around her waist, Tm not an ungrateful person. If I didn’t like the food you worked so hard to make, I wouldn’t bring it to the company at all. Do you know how many people envied me when I brought a lunchbox to work?”
Owen could vouch for this. Liam could have eaten in the office, but he insisted on bringing his lunchbox to the company cafeteria. He would ask the staff to heat it for him while everyone watched.
Whenever the boss came, everyone felt like their food wasn’t as good anymore. But Liam wouldn’t leave, he’d even sit next to the employees and eat.
They would ask, “Why does Mr. Reed still bring his own lunchbox?”
At this point, Liam would nonchalantly say. “My family thinks the food outside isn’t healthy, so they specially prepared this for me”
Hearing this, both the people who ate and the people who cooked would be left speechless.
Celeste pouted, “Why does it always seem like I’m making a fuss when you talk about things that upset me?”
Liam carefully dodged the question, explaining, “That’s because we don’t communicate enough. You’re so kind and gentle, how could you possibly be making a
fuss?”
“You’re too kind, Mr. Reed Celeste gave a small laugh and tugged at his hair
“So, is there a reward?”
Liam nuzzled her nose with his, and Celeste looked down at him.
“What reward would you like?”
Liam didn’t say anything. He picked her up and placed her on the sofa. He then knelt on one knee by her side, and brushed her hair away from her face with his hand, staring at her as he prepared to kiss her. Just as they were about to touch, there was a sudden sound of the door opening from outside
Celeste immediately pushed him away.
Liam was pushed to the ground by her force, falling onto the carpet.
Celeste didn’t have time to look at Liam, she sat up right away.
Nicolas and Trisha had already walked into the living room. As soon as they entered, they saw Liam sitting on the carpet with a frown, looking stern, while Celeste was sitting on the sofa.
Seeing Trisha leaning on Nicolas, Celeste immediately stood up, “Is she drunk?”
Nicolas nodded, but his gaze was still on Liam.
“Did we
come back too early?”
Celeste pretended not to understand what he meant, “It’s already eleven o’clock; it’s not early.” Then she turned to Liam, “You should go too, it looks like it’s not going
to rain.”
Liam reluctantly agreed and was escorted out along with Nicolas.
As soon as they were out the door, Nicolas couldn’t help but ask Liam.
“Did you succeed?‘
“No.”
Nicolas was helpless
Liam sure was slow.
