Celeste checked the time, “It’s getting late; thanks for catching a movie with me today. Let’s call it a night and head home.”
Just as she turned to leave, Liam suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulling her back into his arms.
“You done talking?” Liam asked, his gaze firm. “You should at least give me a chance to have my say, right?”
Celeste looked at him, “What do you want to say?”
“You don’t need to try so hard to make me give up. You think I didn’t know you purposely let me see it? You’re constantly testing my patience, don’t you trust my commitment to you?”
Celeste pursed her lips, staying silent. She couldn’t deny her feelings or the conflict in her heart, and somehow Liam had easily guessed it.
“I know you have many doubts about me, and I know you’re troubled by the issue of having children. I won’t force you to make a choice right away. If you want to date me, we can do so anytime! If not, just keep seeing each other. When we were together before, I always yielded to you. Now it’s your turn to yield to me. If there’s anything I’m not doing well, you can tell me anytime. I’ll try my best to change,” Liam said, gripping her hand tightly.
Celeste was touched for a moment, but heard Liam continue, “If you don’t date me, don’t date anyone else.”
Celeste immediately widened her eyes, “Isn’t that a bit excessive?”
Liam nodded, “I might lose my mind.”
Celeste didn’t catch his words, but noticed that Liam had become clingier and more perceptive after his divorce.
He was really changing as he had claimed. He could always see through her, even when she hid her feelings well in front of others.
Suddenly, Liam squatted in front of her, “Hop on.”
Celeste was stunned, “What for?”
“Didn’t you say your feet hurt from walking to the parking lot? I’ll carry you.”
He was squatting in the middle of the square, his tall figure conspicuous, attracting many looks.
Celeste quickly pulled him up. “I was just joking, get up.”
Liam was firm, “I’m serious, get on.”
“You know how much I weigh, and we still have a long way to go, are you nuts?”
“Just try. I’ve never camed you before. If you don’t get on, people will recognize you.”
Seeing the growing crowd, Celeste simply threw herself onto his back, “You’ll be squashed!”
Liam chuckled and stood up with her on his back. After a few steps, he said, “You’re indeed a bit heavy.”
“Shut up!”
The distance wasn’t far, but not near either. However, carrying someone in the hot summer was tiring.
Even though Liam wasn’t panting, Celeste could feel his heartbeat increasing the longer he walked. She held onto his shoulders tightly, burying her face in his
shoulder
“Liam.”
“Hmm?”
“That doctor you mentioned last time, take me to see him. I have no family left, I really want a child of my own…”
Liam suddenly tensed up. It took him a moment before he replied in a deep voice, “Okay”
