Chapter 802
“What are you doing? Shawn frowned
“I’m just teaching Rhea how to clean properly She’s getting old and her cleaning skills are slipping.” Angel replied nonchalantly
“This is pointless!” Shawn responded angrily. “Rhea has worked in this house for many years. How could I not know about her work ethic?”
As he spoke, he helped Rhea up and sterly said, “You should apologize to Rhea!”
Angel’s face turned sour. She threw the seeds she was eating and shouted, “I won’t‘ It’s her fault for not doing her job properly. What does that have to do with me?”
“What kind of attitude is that? Don’t you have any respect for others?”
Ever since Angel moved back in with her mother and brother, she seemed to have lost her manners. She used to be sweet and caring, always ready to lend a hand with cleaning or serving tea. Now, she was completely unrecognizable
Rhea, womed that their argument would bring her trouble, quickly tried to mediate Sir, it’s okay I’ll clean it up right away”
Angel scoffed, “Dad, are you upset because Rhea was hired by your ex–wife? Caitlyn’s already dead, why are you still like this?”
Shawn seemed to be stung. He raised his hand and slapped Angel. “Shut up!”
Angel was stunned by the slap She hadn’t expected Shawn to hit her.
Helen, who had just come downstairs, saw everything and quickly scolded Shawn, “Why are you hitting her?” She then shielded Angel behind her.
Shawn was red in the face with anger, “Ask her what she said!”
Angel’s eyes were red and tears were falling non–stop. “I just mentioned Caitlyn. Is it wrong to mention her? She’s already dead!”
Helen immediately understood why Shawn was so angry
It wasn’t that he had deep feelings for Caitlyn, but he had been plagued by some strange events recently. His nerves were on edge, and any mention of Caitlyn would set him
off
Indeed, strange things had been happening in the house lately. Starting with Jacques drawing a picture of Caitlyn’s accident scene, these strange occurrences just kept happening
For example, a newly opened carton of milk suddenly turned into blood. Caitlyn’s burned photo reappeared on their bedside table the next morning. And then there was the sound of Caitlyn singing coming from the attic in the middle of the night….
Theat strange events had put Shawn on edge. He even started praying and donating money to temples, hoping for some peace of mind.
Helen, however, didn’t believe in ghosts and spirits
If Caitlyn really had turned into a ghost, wouldn’t she seek revenge instead of just playing tricks?
Even with cameras installed in the house, they hadn’t caught anyone responsible for these strange events. Helen still firmly believed that these were not caused by ghosts
But Shawn clearly didn’t think so. He was terrified of these strange events
That’s why he got so angry when Angel mentioned Caitlyn
Turning around, she softly scolded Angel, “Can you just keep quiet for one time”
Then she grabbed Shawn’s hand, whispering soothing words, “Shawn, calm down, Angel’s not usually like this. Something must’ve ruffled her feathers out there, don’t you know her by now?”
Shawn’s rage simmered down a bit, he said sternly, “You need to lay down the law with the kid. She’s not a baby anymore, why is she so rude! Look at how Caitlyn raises Celeste, she never bullies the nanny at home!”
At his words, Helen’s face immediately tightened up
Angel shot back, “You think Celeste is some well–bred lady? If she really was, she wouldn’t be out there chasing after new partners, flirting with every man in sight after her divorce!”
Shawn asked with a frown, “What kind of nonsense are you saying?”
