Helen glanced at Shawn.
After all, Caitlyn was his ex–wife, and even if their relationship had been unpleasant, at least their love had been real at some point.
And he dared ask such a question.
Should he go or not?
Wasn’t it obvious?
Suppressing her emotions, she said softly, “Of course you have to go. Celeste is still your daughter, and with Caitlyn’s passing, the Reed family will definitely send someone. Once the Reed family arrives, many big shots in J City will attend. As Celeste’s father, if you don’t show up, people will laugh at our family.”
Shawn worriedly said, “With our relationship being so tense, if Celeste makes a scene at the funeral, it will be hard to handle.”
“She won’t.”
Caitlyn said indifferently, “Celeste respects Caitlyn very much, she would never make a scene with you at her mother’s funeral and disturb her mother’s peace in death.”
Shawn didn’t say anything.
Helen looked at the man in front of her, knowing full well what he was thinking.
He was just worried about being ostracized at the funeral after the exposure of his illegitimate daughter.

Once the phone was connected, many messages popped up on his WhatsApp.
After reading them, he found that Celeste hadn’t sent him any messages and couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.
Just as he was about to turn off his phone, a message from Nicolas popped up, “Liam, if you don’t come back soon, you’ll lose your wife!”
Liam’s face changed, and he immediately called Celeste, but no one answered.
He then quickly called Nicolas.
Nicolas had just arrived at the funeral home and almost cursed out loud when he saw Liam’s call.
He picked it up right away.
Liam asked bluntly, “What do you mean by your message?”
Nicolas said angrily, “Your mother–in–law passed away, and today’s the burial. If you don’t come back soon, I’m afraid you’ll lose your wife!”
Liam’s heart shook, and his tone became heavy, “When did this happen?”
“Two days ago, Caitlyn suddenly passed away, and your wife has been in a bad mood. You should come back as soon as possible. The funeral is at two o’clock.” There was blame in his voice, “Where have you been these days? At least tell us how to contact you. If you keep messing around like this, Celeste will definitely think you’re deliberately disappearing.”
