“What the hell are you up to?” Liam’s face was like thunder, “Celeste, didn’t I warn you to stay away from Mason? Do you think my words are just
hot air?”
Celeste gritted her teeth, “I’m just working with Mr. Fletcher, what’s the big deal?”
“Just working?” Liam was fuming. ‘How the hell did you manage to switch those documents and walk away unscathed? Who’s got your back? You never tell me anything! Do I even exist to you?”
Celeste Was still trying to figure out what he meant by “who’s got your back” when his words hit her.
“Tell you? Would you let me do it? Would you help me? You never lifted a finger for me! When I was in the hospital after the accident, not even a family member signed the papers! Where the hell were you when Kaylee Reed pushed Grandpa David and hurt him? You were never there! What’s there to tell you?”
“So you went him for help?” Liam looked downright murderous, “Where does that leave me, huh? Do you have any idea how much this affected the company? You never think, you just leave the mess for others!”
Celeste went pale, her voice barely a whisper, “I didn’t ask you to clean up after me. I’ll face the music for what I’ve done! Tomorrow, I’m gonna tell everyone at the company, let the chips fall where they may! I’d do it all again!”
She knew the impact of the incident. She might have had second thoughts, but she’d still do it. It was her best shot at exposing the truth.
Angel had barely been at Quantum for a month and was still on probation. This was the least damaging time for her to expose the truth. She hadn’t counted on things getting twisted online.
She could apologize, she could deal with the fallout. She had thought it through.
She never expected to get away scot-free.
But Liam’s holier-than-thou attitude was grinding her gears.
What had she done? She just asked Mr. Fletcher to help her mom with a divorce case, how was that stepping on his toes?
When she needed him, where was he? Off with Sydney Denton!
“You’ll face the music? Celeste, need I remind you? Everything you have is because of me! What can you even bring to the table?”
Celeste felt a chill in her heart.
Liam knew her too well, knew just where to hit where it hurt.
She was ghostly pale, “What about the divorce settlement? You forgot about that? I can handle it after we’re divorced, right?”
Liam went dead serious, “You think I won’t do it?”
Celeste forced a smile, “I never thought that. I’m just your high-priced pet, my fate’s in your hands.”
This ticked Liam off, he stood up and towered over Celeste, “You’re right. You’re just a pet I bought. Why the hell should I care? Why should i spend money to feed an ingrate?”
Celeste clenched her fists, defiant, “Mr. Reed, if that’s how you see it, great! I wish you’d divorce me right now and set me free.”
