Clyde frowned, glanced at her, and said, “That’s enough. Don’t talk about these things in front of the kids.”
Valeria snorted and told the driver, “Please stop at the next intersection. I need to get off.”
Wesley asked, “Mom, aren’t you going home?”
Valeria patted Wesley’s head, “I made an appointment to do skincare with Mrs. Kelley. I’ll be back later.”
Isn’t Mrs. Kelley close to my aunt? How come you’re friends with her?”
If she wasn’t on good terms with everyone, I wouldn’t bother interacting with her.”
After Valeria got off, the atmosphere in the car became much calmer.
Clyde sat straight with his eyes half–closed, lost in thought.
After a while, he asked, “How has it been with you and the deputy mayor’s daughter lately?”
His voice was loud and authoritative. Although his face showed signs of aging, his eyes still sparkled, revealing his youthful handsomeness.
Wesley straightened up unconsciously.
Chasing that girl was too easy; she was hooked with just a little effort. However, I don’t want to continue pursuing her. Her dad is getting involved n an old case this year, and he’s about to retire.”
No chance of promotion meant no value of use. Naturally, the marriage wouldn’t happen either.
Clyde frowned, “Is the news reliable?”
“I heard it from the girl herself. It can’t be wrong. It’s a pity I wasted half a year.”
Clyde frowned but remained silent.
Liam’s power within Quantum was not to be underestimated, and Clyde found it difficult to confront him. So he had no choice but to focus on Wesley’s potential marriage alliance.
A powerful in–law’s family could increase his chances of success.
If the deputy mayor was about to retire, then this marriage alliance indeed wouldn’t make sense.

“Dad, I heard Hiram Garcia is back and his younger daughter got sick during a charity event and is recovering at home. Mom is related to Hiram. Should we pay a visit?”

Clyde fell silent for an extended period before finally stating, “We’ll address it once this ordeal concludes. Stay focused on your work and make sure not to let grandma down again.”
Wesley got serious and whispered, “I got it.”
The next day, Kaylee brought the medicine Skyler got for her and went to Liam’s house.
She deliberately chose a time when Liam wasn’t home to visit.
As soon as she walked through the door, she noticed an old man in the yard. He was wearing a loose white tank top, a hat, and was digging in the garden with a small hoe
Kaylee got startled, then quickly snapped, “Where did you come from, and what are you doing here?”
David lifted the brim of his hat, glanced at Kaylee, and frowned. “You’re such an impolite guy, who are you talking about?”
“You’re the rude one, old man! What’s that in your hand, and what are you digging in my yard?”
Kaylee bombarded him with questions, which annoyed Grandpa David. “This is my great granddaughter’s house, I’m planting something in the garden. Who are you to come here and cause a scene?‘
“Great–granddaughter…” Kaylee realized, “You’re from the Campbell family?”
