Liam stared at her for a while before saying, “Answer one question, and the check is yours.”
“What? Celeste looked up at Liam.
“What did Shawn talk to you about?”
Celeste hesitated for a moment, then pursed her lips and said, “Your mom didn’t receive the white truffles. If you were too busy, you could’ve just said no.” There was no need to deceive her by saying it had already been sent.
Liam’s expression darkened, “You think I purposely didn’t send them?”
“If you can’t do something, it’s best not to promise people.”
Liam frowned, wanting to say something, but Owen knocked and entered.
“Mr. Reed, ma’am, the paperwork is done.” Seeing the two not responding, Owen whispered, “Are we still checking out?”

“Did she personally receive them?”
“Mrs. Reed wasn’t home at the time, her maid received them.”
“Did you tell her it was from us?”

Then why would his mom still say she hadn’t received them?
He grabbed his phone and dialed the house.
The call connected quickly, it’s me.”
The maid recognized Liam’s voice immediately, “Mr. Reed, why are you calling? Skyler and Kaylee aren’t home.”
“I know, I just want to ask you something.”
“Please ask.”
“I asked Owen to send the white truffles last time, and he said he gave them to you. So why did my mother say she didn’t get them?”
The maid’s voice became nervous, stammering, “Maybe, maybe I just forgot.”
“Forgot? Liam’s tone was low, “Find them right now, I’ll pick them up on the way”
How could she find them when they’d already been crushed and thrown away by Kaylee?
