Shawn looked upset and said, “Mr. Reilly, I’m not quite familiar with this matter. Please give me some time to ask Angel what’s going on. Maybe there’s been a misunderstanding.”
“Misunderstanding? What kind of misunderstanding could there be? My daughter was very clear, it was your daughter who instigated it. Let me tell you, you either find a way to return this bracelet, or you buy it. If not, just wait and see!” Mr. Reilly said,
With that, the other party hung up the phone.
Shawn put down his phone with a gloomy expression, then looked up at Angel and asked, “What’s going on with what Mr. Reilly said? About this bracelet?”
Angel, annoyed, ripped Adriana a new one in her mind, and then detailed the events of that day to Shawn. Of course, she didn’t mention her own hint to
Adriana.
After finishing, Angel said with a hint of grievance, “Indeed, I didn’t think this through. I knew my sister didn’t like me, so I shouldn’t have been dragged into that store by Ms. Reilly. That store belongs to Mr. Francis, who has a good relationship with Liam. Mr. Reilly doesn’t want to offend Mr. Francis or the Reed family, so she’s pinning the blame on me. This lady was Shawn’s secretary, Helen, who Celeste had seen with Shawn in the underground parking lot before.
Now she was wearing casual clothes, eating at the spot that used to belong to Caitlyn, looking like the lady of the house.
Shawn frowned and glanced at Helen, “What’s the need of talking about this now? Mr. Reilly has made it clear that he wants us to foot the bill for his daughter!”
“Will we obey what he orders?” Helen sneered. “Why should others be responsible for his daughter’s matters? That company is falling apart. He only stands a chance now because his sister’s marriage.” Helen said.
“You don’t understand the complexity of this situation. We need Garfield Reilly’s help to secure the Riverside Shire land. The bidding isn’t final yet, and if we offend him now, we might lose this project. A multi-billion dollar project is just around the corner, and we can’t let it slip away.” Shawn said.
Helen looked puzzled. “Does Garfield really want to let go of such a big project?”
Shawn scoffed, “Of course not, but he can’t handle it. His brother-in-law happens to be in charge of the project, and although he wants it, it’s not legally allowed.”
For this project, Shawn had already given Garfield gifts worth over 10 million. But the guy was still not satisfied!
Helen frowned. “So what do we do? Over 30 million is not a small number. Are we really going to pay for her?”
Shawn obviously didn’t want to spend the extra 30 million for no reason. He picked up the phone and said, “I’ll make a call to see if Mr. Reed can help.”
Helen forced a smile but didn’t say anything else.
As soon as Celeste got in the car, her phone rang.
