Clair paused, her lips tightening slightly.
Nicolas decided to drop it.
Frankly, he didn’t know much about Clair and wasn’t even that familiar with Steven.
So, he couldn’t really say what kind of person Clair was, but he knew what kind of trouble Clair’s affection would bring to Liam. If Liam found it hard to speak up, he would do it.
They were all smart people. If Clar still didn’t get it, then there was nothing he could do.
As soon as the dance was over, Nicolas went off to find Trisha.
Trisha was sitting in a corner eating, with a pile of lobster shells next to her.
Seeing Nicolas, she shot him a glance, looking indifferent.
Nicolas leaned in and asked, “Babe, why the long face?”
Trisha glared at him, “Don’t call me babe! It’s disgusting!”
Nicolas chuckled, sat next to her, draped his arm around her shoulder, and gently asked, “What’s the matter? Why are you so upset?”
“Humph,” Trisha snorted, “Is Clair’s waist soft?”
Nicolas pondered her question and nodded, “It’s pretty soft.”
Trisha instantly went ballistic, “You pervert! You can’t even behave yourself when you’re not well!”
Nicolas sighed, “Exactly because I’m not well, I can only look. If I were in good shape, would I be doing this?”
Trisha was taken aback.
She interpreted his words as I’m only pretending to be your boyfriend because I’m not well. If I were in good shape, there’s no way I’d settle for you.
Her heart suddenly felt blocked, and the food in front of her became hard to swallow
Her lips trembled, her eyes red with anger. She stared at him, “Do you think I want to be like this? I hope you recover soon and never contact me again!”
Nicolas was confused, “What’s wrong? Why are you so upset?”
Trisha was annoyed and pushed his hand away. None of your business!”
Nicolas looked bewildered.
He hadnt said anything wrong, had he?
Why was she suddenly angry?
He thought about what he had just said and didn’t think there was anything wrong.
Not understanding, Nicolas asked her directly. He wasn’t going to guess like Liam
“Little devil, what’s going on with you?”
“Nothing! Trisha said angrily.
Nicolas looked perplexed
Did she look like she was all right?
He grabbed Trisha’s hand, “Did I say something wrong that upset you?”
His gentle questioning made Trisha feel like she was being unreasonable
Nicolas hadn’t said anything wrong. If he were well, he wouldn’t be with her. Besides, wasn’t his health problem caused by her?
It was the truth, but hearing him say it like that made her uncomfortable.
She slowly realized that she seemed to be jealous.
She didn’t want to see Nicolas dancing with Clair, and she didn’t want to hear him say those words.
All of a sudden, Trisha was shocked. Was she falling for Nicolas?
How could that be? How could she be attracted to him?
Trisha suddenly stood up, the big movement making the table shake.
Nicolas was startled, “What’s wrong?”
Trisha looked at him oddly, then looked away “I need to go to the bathroom”
With that, she left without waiting for Nicolas to respond
She must have had too much to drink
As Trisha walked away, she kept slapping her face.
How could she possibly be falling for Nicolas?
His love life had always been too complicated, and now he couldn’t even performi
It must be because she had been spending too much time with him recently and was getting the wrong impression. The person she should be attracted to was someone outstanding like Dr. Ledford!
As she walked out the door, Mason walked in.
Before Mason could greet her, Trisha had disappeared.
He looked around and saw Nicolas sitting in a corner, frowning.
“What are you doing here all by yourself?” Mason asked.
Nicolas came back to his senses, saw Mason, and invited him to sit down.
“Everyone is probably changing for the pool party,” he said, pausing. “Why are you just getting here?”
“Got held up at the office,” Mason replied.
