Trisha hesitated for a moment before saying, “Your buddies have all gifted you such high–end stuff. My little gift just doesn’t hold a candle to theirs Letti did give you something, and I’m her best friend, so her gift is like mine too.”
Nicolas scoffed, “So you basically waltzed in, had a feast at my birthday bash, and didn’t bring a gift, huh?”
Trisha spoke softly, “You got so many presents that day, you wouldn’t care about one less, would you? Why are you so hung up on this?”
What others gift is theirs, what you gift is yours. How can those be the same?” Nicolas retorted, then paused, “Why did you even show up at my birthday party that day? We didn’t even know each other then, did we?”
“Because Jace Ledford was attending Trisha replied, straightening her dress, I wanted to make contact with him, so I told him that you had invited me too. I didn’t expect you to show up out of nowhere, asking me all these questions. I was scared you’d blow my cover, which is why I was clinging to you so tightly, not letting you see my face.”
Nicolas fell silent.
What should have been a happy occasion turned sour when he heard that she only attended his birthday party to chase another guy.
The next morning, when Jace Ledford knocked on the door, Trisha looked like a deer caught in headlights, scared to death that Jace would find out she had spent the night with Nicolas.

Before she could finish, Nicolas had pulled her down onto his lap.

“What are you doing?” Trisha said, her ears turning red as she glared at him.
Nicolas, with one hand free, lifted her chin, “Look at me.”
Trisha was forced to look up at him. She was uncomfortable and widened her eyes to express her feelings, “Look at what?”
“Who do you think is better looking, me or Jace?”
Trisha was dumbfounded
“What a pointless question!” She retorted.
She tried to get up and leave, but Nicolas was surprisingly strong, and she couldn’t break free.
Answer, and I’ll let you go Nicolas was as stubborn as a mule
Annoyed, Trisha stared at him, “Of course Dr. Ledford is better looking, don’t you know what you look like?”
