Chapter 1277
Helen walked out of the police station with a gloomy face.
Angel’s car was parked not far away, waiting for her.
Helen got in the car, and Angel quickly asked, “Mom, how did it go?”
Helen’s face was expressionless, “They said they’d wait until all the children’s medical examination results come out. The kindergarten has been ordered to cancel its registration and can never engage in education again.”
“What about Silvia?”
Helen said coldly. “If it weren’t for her greed, I wouldn’t be in this situation today. She got what she deserved!”
Angel didn’t say anything else.
After a while, she said in a low voice, “Mom, about Celeste. She donated the land and the house. She never intended to take them for herself. She did
this just to cause us trouble.”
Helen frowned, quickly reviewing the recent events in her mind, muttering to her self, “What is she trying to do? Why is she targeting me all the time?”
Just as an idea seemed to emerge in her mind, her phone rang, interrupting her thoughts.
She glanced at the phone. Only a few people knew this number, so she pressed the answer key
“Who is this?”
“Mrs. Campbell, congratulations on achieving your goal”
A husky voice came from the other end of the phone. The person seemed to cough a few times while talking.
Helen stiffened, then immediately opened the car door and got out.
Angel was surprised by Helen’s actions. Who was she talking to that she had to sneak around?
Helen went to a place where there were no people before she spoke again, “You didn’t call just to congratulate me, did you?”
The person on the other end laughed, There are some other things I want to discuss with Mrs. Campbell.”
“What else do we have to talk about? Haven’t I treated you well over the years?”
“Mrs Campbell, you’re being a bore. I’ve kept your secrets very well over the years. Any one of these would be enough to cost me my life. Haven’t ❘ kept them secret enough?”
Helen’s face went pale. She held the phone tightly as her fingers turned white from the strength. After a long while, she managed to say, “What do you
want?”
The person laughed again, “Nothing much, I’m sick. I thought I’d ‘borrow‘ some money from you for medical treatment.”
Money again?!
Helen took a deep breath and asked in a low voice, “How much do you need?”
Two hundred thousand dollars”
Helen’s eyes twitched, “Two hundred thousand? You think I’m made of money?”
To you, that amount is just a drop in the bucket.”
“I don’t have that much I can only give you ten thousand at most”
The man’s voice suddenly became stern, Ten thousand? Are you kidding me?”
Helen got a bit pissed off, I’m having financial troubles. I don’t have that much money. I’ve given you quite a lot over the past few years, havent (? We agreed last time that we’re square, this ten thousand is just me trying to help out”
“That’s your problem, I need surgery”
Helen looked helpless, 1 don’t have two hundred thousand Where the hell am I supposed to get two hundred thousand for you?”
“That’s your headache The other party paused, then laughed disdainfully. I remember the Campbell family has a daughter who’s married to the richest man in J City, right? if you’re really broke, then I’ll go ask her The secrets I know are worth more than just two hundred thousand to her, right?”
