Just as they were chatting, the front door opened.
In walked Owen, followed by several others, each carrying two or three sets of dresses wrapped in dust covers, lining up in the living room.
“Madam, these are the dresses that Mr. Reed picked out for you. Please see if you like any. If not, I can have someone select others.”
Celeste fell silent
Trisha’s mouth formed an ‘O, “Is this how you guys pick out dresses at home?
Celeste pressed her temples, feeling a headache coming on “Owen, today is Clair’s birthday. Do you think it’s appropriate for me to wear these? Won’t be stealing someones thunder?”
Owen also felt helpless, “I reminded Mr. Reed, but he said that flamboyance is your style. He even asked me to bring all your jewelry for you to choose from, suggesting you wear dozens of pieces.”
With that, he signaled the people behind him to open the boxes they were holding, revealing dazzling arrays of jewelry.
Celeste couldn’t believe this was happening.
Trisha’s ‘O‘ expression grew wider, then she closed it
She turned to ask Celeste. “Did you always dress this extravagantly for parties?”
Celeste had no answer.
Back when she was young and immature, she purposely dressed so flamboyantly and luxuriously, mainly to piss off those who gossiped behind her back. Now she had matured.
But Liam seemed to be regressing, becoming more and more childish.
“I’m not wearing these. Call Liam and tell him to take these away. I’ll just pick something from my closet.”
Owen said, “Madam, perhaps you should call Mr. Reed. He won’t listen to me.”
Reluctantly, Celeste picked up her phone and dialed Liam’s number.
As soon as the call connected, Liam asked, “Did you pick out a dress?”
“I’m not wearing a dress”
Liam said, “Everyone will be wearing dresses at the birthday party, you should too. It’s etiquette.”
“Well, I’m not wearing the ones you sent. Why would I want to dress like a peacock at someone else’s birthday party? You’re such a fool!”
The people from the studio that Owen brought were all stunned
A fool?
He was Mr Reed of Quantum, who dared talk to him like that?
This woman really had guts!
Owen remained impassive
Just renting these dresses would cost a pretty penny, let alone buying them. If Madam knew, she would probably nag at Mr. Reed for days.
She said Mr Reed was just a fool, he got off easy
Liam said, “Even if you were wrapped in a sack, you’d still attract attention. Others are made by their clothes, but you make the clothes.”
Celeste was speechless.
Where did he learn to talk like this?
“I wouldn’t want someone at my birthday party to be dressed better than me. Let’s keep it low–key and don’t cause me any trouble”
Liam snorted. “Then let Owen bring you some more modest options to choose from”
Just as Celeste was about to refuse, Liam said, “If your brother knew I was too cheap to buy you a dress, he’d look down on me even more.”
Celeste had to swallow her words and reluctantly agree.
Owen quickly provided a new selection of dresses for Celeste to choose from.
From over a dozen dresses, Celeste chose a long white silk dress with mid–length sleeves. It wouldn’t be too cold in this weather. There were faint prints on the hern of the dress, giving it a fresh and elegant look
Once she put on the dress, her noble and elegant temperament would be apparent, even when she stood quietly without speaking.
She was like a rose, a refined and elegant lady
She twirled in front of the mirror and suddenly said. “This dress makes my butt look big”
Everyone in the room was speechless
Trisha helplessly said, “Can you just shut up and let me admire your beauty?”
