Chapter 1221
Mason slowly withdrew his hand, “If Dawson was still here, you would have gone all out to help him achieve his wish, right?”
Shanna Fletcher’s face turned pale instantly.
Her lips trembled, whispering. That’s not the case…”
“Mom” Mason interrupted her, speaking indifferently, “I’m tired. Can you leave?”
Shanna Fletcher stood still.
Mason added, “I’ll meet the girls you mentioned. I’ll do my duty. But I need to rest now, okay, Mom?”
“I didn’t mean that…”
Shanna Fletcher’s eyes turned red, but Mason closed his eyes and refused to speak further.
Shanna Fletcher had no choice but to quietly clean up the mess on the floor, place a cup of water by Mason’s bed, and then quietly leave the ward.
After there was no more noise, Mason opened his eyes
He turned his head to look at the pitch–black sky outside the window. His stitched fingers moved slightly, and the blood seeping from the wound stained the gauze.
He glanced at it and looked away as if he felt nothing.
“I jumped up and smashed a glass on the bad guy’s head. He screamed in pain but the guy was strong. He didn’t faint and turned around with a knife to slash me, then I kicked him in the nuts. He was in so much pain that he passed out”
Trisha bragged, then took the water handed to her by Nicolas and took a sip. “If not for the police arriving quickly, I would have made him pay!”
Instead, Nicolas asked, “What do you mean by ‘his nuts“?”
Trisha pointed to his crotch.
Nicolas’s eyelid twitched severely, and he said in a deep voice, “You saw him with a knife, and instead of running, you went up to fight him. What were you thinking?”
Trisha huffed. “What do you know? This is called bravery, with no regard for gains or losses!”
Nicolas glared at her, “Who’s going to see your brave act when you’re almost dead? Are your family and friends going to send your honor to heaven when they mourn for you?”
Trisha’s mouth twitched, “Shut up! I wanted you to praise me: who wanted to hear your criticism?”
Nicolas said in a low voice, “Saving people is a good thing, but you have to consider whether you’re capable of saving them. For example, if someone falls into a river and you can’t swim but still jump in to save them. Although your act is brave, you can’t save the person and instead have put yourself in danger. You’ve shown bravery, but have you considered your family and friends?
Always remember, life comes first, unless it’s a sacrifice for your country then I have nothing to say”
Trisha was a bit impulsive at the moment. Now that Nicolas had analyzed the consequences, she got a bit scared.
“Mainly, I wasn’t thinking too much at the time. Luckily, Letti sprayed the guy with something special she had, or we might not have been able to get away.”
Nicolas paused, “Didn’t you just say you kicked the guy in the nuts, and that’s how you managed to subdue him? What’s this special spray?”
Trisha said, “Ever heard of this thing in writing called ‘exaggeration‘?”
Nicolas chuckled, “This is the first time I’ve seen someone brag so boldly”
As he spoke, he took Trisha’s hand and began to disinfect a small cut on her hand from a piece of glass, “Didn’t you have script revisions this afternoon? How come you went out with Celeste?”
“Well, actually.” Trisha paused, clearing her throat, “I was worried Celeste wouldn’t get her papers sorted out, so I went with her.”
Nicolas didn’t show any suspicion, continuing to disinfect her hand, “Next time you’re in trouble, give me a call. I don’t want to find out my girlfriend got hurt from someone else.”
The term ‘girlfriend felt a bit strange to Trisha.
She asked softly, “So, have you tried it again or not?”
