Shanna Fletcher asked in a low voice, Were you with her when things went south?”
Mason nodded, softly saying, “If it weren’t for Celeste’s help, I probably wouldn’t be here today. She saved me.”
Shanna Fletcher’s expression turned a bit weird. After a while, she spoke again. “I’ll buy some gifts and personally thank Ms. Campbell at her place.”
Mason waved his hand, “Mom, don’t worry about it. Once I’m a bit better, I’ll do it myself”
Shanna Fletcher’s face turned sour, “Mason, Ms Campbell is Liam’s ex wife. You better not get too close to her to avoid unnecessary speculation.”
Mason paused and asked casually, “What kind of speculation?”
Shanna Fletcher said, “They only divorced a few months ago If you get too close to her, people might think their divorce was because of you or that you and Ms. Campbell have something special going on. You and Liam are so close, it wouldn’t be good for you if such rumors spread. ”
Mason pondered for a moment, then said, “If that’s the speculation, I don’t care. I really like her.”

The fruit knife in Shanna Fletcher’s hand fell to the ground. Her expression could be described as shocked. After the momentary stiffness, she suddenly stood up.
“Did you say you like her? Mason, what are you saying? Are you out of your mind? How could you like her?!”

“Why can’t I like her?”
Shanna Fletcher’s face turned sulien, “Why? She is Liam’s ex–wife. If you like her, how can you and Liam get along? There are plenty of good girls out there Why do you have to like her? Is Celeste trying to take advantage of you? You’ve had a few mishaps, and they all involved her. Is it really a coincidence?”
Mason’s face darkened, “Mom, can you not insult people when you talk? You’ve taught me to respect women since I was a kid, but now you’re describing a girl in this way. Is that appropriate?”
Shanna Fletcher’s lips were trembling, “Any girl is fine, just not her!”
