Chapter 1178
“She has some knowledge about medicine. I remember my mom’s health wasn’t bad, but she couldn’t conceive. She had one successful IVF attempt but had a miscarriage soon after.”
Liam immediately caught her drift, “You’re suggesting that Helen might have tampered with your mother’s medication.”
Celeste looked at him, “What do you think?”
Liam thought for a moment, “Prescription drugs aren’t just handed out willy–nilly Improper use of abortion drugs can lead to accidents.”
Celeste said, “So, Helen must have obtained this drug from a contact. If she can get it now, she could have gotten it before. If we can find out how Helen got this drug, we might be able to link her to my mom’s miscarriage”
Liam said, “Don’t worry about it for now. I’ll have someone look into it. If it really is her, she’ll pay for both old and new grievances
Just then, Trisha came running up from downstairs, shouting. “Helen lost her baby”
Nicolas was chasing after her, “Hey, can you keep it down?”
Trisha immediately clamped her mouth shut, glanced around, then whispered. “Helen couldn’t save her baby. They had to induce labor. I heard from a nurse that it was a boy. Your deadbeat dad is downstairs crying his eyes out. You wouldn’t believe how hard he’s taking it. He taking it worse than if his own parents died
Celeste and Liam exchanged glances. The latter said, “Shall we go take a look?”
Celeste said, “It might not be appropriate for me to go, right? She might get suspicious.”
Liam said, “It’s quite appropriate to go watch the show. If you don’t go, it might raise more suspicion.”
Celeste thought about it and agreed. They headed off to see the spectacle
Helen had just undergone labor induction and was looking quite pale. She had lost too much blood on the way and was currently receiving a transfusion.
Shawn was beside himself with grief, “Why couldn’t we save our baby?”
With red–rimmed eyes, Helen weakly tugged at his hand, “Shawn, I’m sorry… I couldn’t protect our child.”
Shawn was heartbroken. He couldn’t help but blame Helen as he thought about their lost son, “Tell me, why did you go to such a high place? Didn’t you know your own condition?”
Helen turned pale She was already in this state, but Shawn was still blaming her
Bart frowned, “Shawn, do you think it’s easy for my sister to lose her child? She’s just undergone labor induction. She’s weak. You shouldn’t be saying these words. What’s important now is taking care of her health.”
Shawn had never been a fan of his brother–in–law. When he was starting his business, Helen forked over quite a bit of cash to support him. Now that he had climbed up the Fletcher family tree and married Krista Fletcher, Shawn thought he could cash in on it, but as it turned out, he got squat.
At his and Helen’s wedding, not a single soul from the Fletcher family showed up. All Krista did was send over a fancy wedding gift, and that was it
This didnt make Shawn any more forgiving. He didn’t show Bart, his brother–in–law, any warmth. Instead, he said coldly, “I know what I’m doing I don’t need you to teach me anything”
Angel quickly jumped to her uncle’s defense, “Dad, Bart is just worried about Mom. Why are you being like this? If it weren’t for that witch, Lucilla, none of this would’ve happened. At least pick the right person to take your anger out on.”
Just then, the hospital room door knocked Mrs. Kelley was standing there with a basket of flowers, “Mr. Campbell, is your wife okay? And the baby is safe, right?”
The atmosphere in the room became even heavier at her question.
Without answering her question, Shawn stood up and said, ‘Mrs. Kelley, what brings you here?”
Mrs. Kelley answered softly. “Your wife had an accident at my property; I was worried. I also got the security footage from there, so I thought I’d bring it over for you to see”
Hearing this, Helen’s body stiffened instantly
