Liam barely noticed Lucilla. He pondered for a moment before offering reassurances, “Don’t sweat it. We’ll be at the hospital in no time. They’ll give her a thorough checkup.”
Celeste could only suppress her worries and hope for the best
Soon, they arrived at the hospital. Shawn immediately had Lucilla admitted to the OB–GYN department
At this point, he didn’t give a hoot about what others thought. If he could save one of the two kids, that would be enough
Under Liam’s instructions, they were wheeled off to separate operating rooms on different floors.
Being Helen’s husband, despite his worry for the child in Lucilla’s womb, all Shawn could do was wait outside Helen’s operating room.
He surprisingly asked Liam to check on Lucilla for him.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Lucilla began to puke her guts out. The doctors were stumped, even after a full round of examinations.
Then they discovered Lucilla was bleeding from her lower body
Celeste and the others were waiting outside Celeste was flabbergasted when she saw the doctor come out to ask about the situation, “She’s not pregnant! How could she be bleeding?”
The doctor knew she wasn’t pregnant. He asked, “Did she eat anything unusual?”
Celeste shook her head, “I have no idea. Could it be food poisoning?”
The doctor frowned. “Food poisoning wouldn’t cause vaginal bleeding. She’s also experiencing abdominal pain and vomiting. I suspect she may have taken Mifepristone and Misoprostol.”
Celeste was stunned, “What are those drugs?”
“They’re drugs used in chemical abortions. Her symptoms are similar to those of a patient I’ve treated before. We’ve already taken blood samples and sent her vomit for testing We should know soon.”
Celeste nodded. She had no idea why Lucilla would take such drugs. But if it was true, then Helen must be behind it.
Not only did she push her down the stairs, but she also made her take abortion pills beforehand. Did Helen take out double insurance just in case the fall didn’t cause a miscarriage?
Celeste felt a chill run down her spine.

Seeing Celeste’s worry, Liam asked the doctor, “If she’s not pregnant, what effects would these drugs have on her body?”
The doctor replied. “All drugs have side effects. Taking these drugs without being pregnant is definitely not good. But don’t worry too much, she’ll be fine once her
hormone levels return to normal.”

He gripped Celeste’s hand and whispered, “Don’t worry. If it’s still bothering you, we can hire a private doctor to take care of her after we get back.”
Celeste nodded, then said quietly. “Something just occurred to me.”
“What is it?”
“Do you remember I told you about my mom wanting to have another child?
Liam nodded
It was understandable for Caitlyn to want another child since Celeste wasn’t her biological daughter.
“I remember you saying that she had health issues that prevented her from conceiving.”
Celeste said grimly, “I thought so too, but today’s events made me consider another possibility. I mentioned to you before that Helen was a student my mother -sponsored She was the only one in her batch who didn’t go to a comprehensive university but chose a health vocational school instead
The reason she didn’t go to a university was that she was dating Shawn at the time, which affected her studies. She chose the health school to eam a diploma which was considered decent back then
