Chapter 1152
Although Celeste was concerned about the money, she wouldn’t get mad at Liam because of Nicolas’s instigation. But seeing Nicolas suddenly shut up because of Liam’s words, she felt a little strange.
She asked Liam in a low voice, “Do you have any secrets on him?”
Before Liam could speak, Nicolas said, “I’m a good guy. How could I have any secrets? He’s just mad because he can’t win the argument.”
Celeste wasn’t that easily fooled
Liam simply reminded him, and Nicolas obediently shut up. How could he be so easily controlled if there were no secrets?
Celeste moved closer to them and asked Liam in front of Nicolas, “What secrets do you have about him? Tell me, I’ll tell Trisha to control him.”
Liam gave Nicolas a look, who was looking at him with an “If you dare to say it, we’re no longer friends” face.
Liam looked away and retorted, “Can’t say.”
Celeste said, “Tell me, I’ll give you extra points.”
Liam seemed to waver Nicolas clenched his teeth, “Is a point more important than our friendship? Liam, as a man, you should have depot,
let me look down on you.”
Liam paused. Just when Nicolas thought he held back, he heard him ask, “How much?”
For this secret, Celeste was willing to pay a high price, “A thousand points!
Liam, “Okay”
Nicolas darkened, “Liam, do you have any conscience left? Who handled Caitlyn’s funeral when you didn’t attend? Who gave you advice when you were chasing Celeste? Now that you have her, you turn against me. Are you even human?!”
Liam ignored him, whispering to Celeste, “His ex–girlfriend is his ex–ex–girlfriend’s ex–girlfriend. He’s just a tool in other people’s relationships.”
“Details!”
Nicolas breathed a sigh of relief, glared at Liam; he originally wanted to say something biting, but thinking better of it, he held back. He was afra that if he said more, Liam would spill the real secret and break their friendship.
So, with a poker face, Nicolas listened as Liam used his past little secrets to win Celeste’s favor.
Nicolas glanced at the gift box in Celeste’s hand and asked, “What did Liam give exactly? It looks so dazzling.”
Celeste was also curious. The money would have gone into Shawn’s pocket if she hadn’t thrown the gift box back in time.
She turned to Liam and asked, “How much did you actually give?”
Liam leisurely sipped his orange juice, “Not much.”
“It looks so high–end, and it’s not much?”
Liam said, “Don’t worry, it’s not as much as you gave.”
Celeste was so angry she could spit blood, “My gift box looks big, but I only put ten dollars in it!”
Nicolas nearly spat out the cucumber juice he was sipping. “Ten bucks? How could you have the nerve to give so little?”
Shawn’s wedding was no small affair, the venue was pricey, the food and wine were top–notch, and they even hired a Michelin–starred chef. It was said that the per capita cost was at least over a hundred dollars.
Celeste shot Nicolas a look, “And what about your gift? Those two cups you sent were probably free shipping, right? How could you have the audacity to criticize me?”
Nicolas retorted with contempt, “Are you looking down on me? I spent more than ten bucks, okay?”
Was that supposed to be impressive?
A pair of cups was just a few dollars, and the gift box he bought separately was ten bucks.
If the cup’s packaging quality wasn’t so crappy, he wouldn’t have had to spend another ten bucks on a box.
Listening to their conversation, Liam thought that Steven Garcia might be a fake; Nicolas and Celeste were the real siblings. Both were money–loving and stingy.
“So, how pricey is it?” Nicolas started instigating, “Celeste, why don’t you open it? If Liam’s gift today is worth more than three hundred, you should break up with him sooner. You can’t be with a guy who spends money like water.”
Liam’s heart started to race.
“There’s no need to be so harsh,” Celeste
at Liam, “It’s all mine now.”
Liam bit his lip, “At least leave the packaging box and wrapping paper for me, okay? I have a client’s wedding in a few days, and I need to give thern a gift too.”
