Chapter 1070
Steven quickly showed a few photos of Celeste taken by Liam to the old couple.
“Celeste is already asleep. You guys can chill out now, right?”
Old Mrs. Hann held the phone, her eyes full of tendemess as she looked at Celeste in the photos. Old Mr. Hann also wanted a peek, “Let me have a look too!”
“Why do I feel like she’s lost weight since our last video call? Her face looks smaller.”
“I have the same feeling. Her cheekbones seem higher, and her complexion looks a bit off–color”
“Ah, the poor child…”
Steven blinked unconsciously.
Could it be that her complexion was off because of the warm light from Liam’s lamp?
The old couple looked at the photos as if they couldn’t get enough, then they realized something.
Old Mrs. Hann asked, “Steven, if Celeste is asleep, who took these photos?”
Steven answered calmly. “Her assistant.”
“Really?”
Old Mr. Hann squinted at the phone, “Why do I see what looks like a man’s belt on the nightstand?”
“You’re mistaken, Steven said without batting an eye. “That’s a choker, a trendy accessory young girls wear. It’s like a necklace, some are lacy, some are braided, and some are made of leather like this one.”
Old Mrs. Hann frowned, “A choker? Isn’t that like a dog collar?”
Steven explained, “Well, you don’t get it. It’s fashion, just like the coats that were popular when you were young. All the young people dress like
this now”
The old couple still found it odd to wear such a large thing around the neck, but when they thought about their granddaughter, they immediately nodded in agreement, “Celeste is so beautiful, she looks good in anything.”
Hiram was silent.
For the first time, he found Steven’s gift of gab quite useful. He could easily bamboozle people.
Having finally pacified the old couple, Steven drove Hiram away.
On the road, Hiram finally asked, “How’s that injured actress? It’s been a whole night, why hasn’t there been any news? Hurry up and get her to clear things up”
Steven, while driving, said, “I’ll handle it. Don’t worry about it.”
“What are you planning?” Hiram thought of his son’s temper, his expression serious. “You can’t do anything extreme. Everything you do must be within the bounds of the law, got it?”
Steven said nonchalantly. “You’re overthinking it. When have I ever done anything illegal?”
Hiram said discontentedly, “You have the nerve to ask? Have you forgotten about the things you did when you were underage?”
Steven chuckled, “I was just scaring those guys.”
Hiram warned. “This involves Celeste. Whatever you do, it has to be legal and reasonable. Don’t let people misunderstand you.”
Steven joked, “In your heart, do I hold the same position as your daughter?”
Hiram immediately furrowed his brows, “The main thing is that I’m worried you’ll embarrass me.”
Steven just laughed and didn’t say anything
Janis heard the sound of the car engine at home and came out with a jacket
Hiram had just gotten out of the car and was leaning against the car door, talking to someone inside the car
She called out softly, “Hiram.”
Hiram turned his head, “Are you still not asleep?”
