Luna Reborn by Juliet Swanson Chapter 31

Chapter 31

As I moved my head in the direction she was pointing, Bash was definitely there. He appeared to have been buying supplies from the store across the avenue.

“Let’s say hello to him.” Ava intended to yank me toward the spot he was standing.

“No!” I shouted a bit excessively. Ava seemed confused with my reaction, so I needed to gather myself before saying again. “Well, I think he’s occupied. We shouldn’t disturb him.”

“Why? He will depart tomorrow. Maybe this is going to be our final opportunity to catch him.”

I turned my head around to stare at her, startled.

“What did you say? I believe he won’t be departing until next week?”

“Hm? Did he not inform you?” Ava asked after learning that Bash had not said it to me. She undoubtedly found that strange considering how intimate we appeared to be.

“After school yesterday, Bash came by my house to let me know he had something emerge and needed to leave earlier than expected.”

My heart raced. Had I been that ‘something’ which had emerged?

I soon dismissed the idea, nevertheless, realizing I was repeating the same mistake. I thought I was more necessary

for him compared to I actually was. He possibly needed to depart earlier than anticipated due to an issue at his own pack.

“Oh, I see,” I replied, then turned to look at Bash by the window.

That would be my final opportunity to catch Bash until he departed. It felt like such a weird idea when I consider my whole life had been taken over by him.

Did I truly desire to abandon everything as they were? I anticipate that Bash would soon become an Alpha heir, so he would be quite occupied with additional responsibilities after returning back. As a result, we were almost certain not to bump into one other anymore. To encounter in this way had already been an odd twist of fate, so the possibility of running into each other afterwards sounded extremely impossible.

Suddenly, another terrible speculation crossed my mind.

If I did not encounter him anymore, what would happen to his future? Assuming everything was still the same, would Bash continue to visit the Lock Heart and be jailed by Benjamin? Would he possibly die in the battleground in my vision? Imagining it made me want to vomit. Perhaps I should be honest with him and advise him to stay as distant from this place as necessary. Was it cruel to keep it from him so I could stand up myself? Who was I to entrust the fate of him to my care again?

I was in a deep thought, arguing what I have to do, as his sparkling eyes abruptly turned up to the shop.

Bash noticed that I was looking directly at him.

Chapter 31

I was overcome with an abundance of ideas and emotions while I tried to decide something to accomplish.

Should I greet? Nod? Moved closer to him? Acting like I was staring at the store beside him?

My pulse was racing while my legs were shaky because of a feeling of unease.

I had a lot of things to convey to Bash, even if there were many things, I shouldn’t have spoken in the first place.

The extremely crucial issue, in my thought, was the decision. whether I need to inform Bash regarding the future issue. Since I believed that Bash had the right to be aware, regardless of whether I came out as crazy.

I moved in his direction and started waving my palm.

“Bash!”

However, before I got started, he quickly turned aside and bent to organize his backpack. Everything I could manage to perform was only stare motionlessly as he jumped into his motorcycle, turned it on, then rode away without looking at

It looked like he had just closed the door in front of my eyes, so I was only standing around in disbelief with my palm hanging high feeling embarrassed. My face was flushed at having to stand along the edge of the road appearing foolish.

“Winona?” Ava asked, seeming uncertain about if she should inquire regarding what had just occurred or not.

I clenched my hands into loose fists and brought them down

to support my chest. That was alright. I deserved that.

Bash would have been not aware of the level of risk he was going to encounter in the future, though I did. Maybe there remains time for me to alter things into improved outcomes. Whether I failed to encounter him anymore, or Bash had no expectation to be my friend once more, I was still going to try to protect him. No matter what it required. I was determined to not allow Benjamin to initiate the conflict that would eventually lead to a disastrous demise.

That served as a terrible lesson of how much I had been putting off determining my next step. The time I accepted my Sainthood along with asserted complete power, I would require to start gathering allies immediately in preparation for the pack’s potential political domination. I tried to avoid starting it, since doing so would only place every member of my family in danger and lead to an eventual conflict between nations. However, I didn’t have many choices.

I was reluctant to acknowledge it, but the time it showed up, I realized I should get ready for the worst-case situation in an attempt to rescue the people I cherished, no exception Bash. Perhaps someday, I would resume my Luna role, in case there were no other choices available after exploring every possibility.

“Winona?” Ava inquired once more, growing concerned with my prolonged quietness.

It dragged me out of the troubled thoughts I had been having. A dark pit of recollections I was reluctant to dwell over right away.

I had to mentally yank them out of my head. That seemed to

be no justification for being preoccupied with it. I still had a great deal of time before it would be difficult for me to decide.

“Yeah?” I responded, feeling somewhat dazed.

She scowled and slightly pursed her mouth. “Is that really? Bash must have noticed you, right?”

I stroked my forearm, continuing to feel clumsy. “He may not.”

Ava kept quiet while she let the notion pass. By this point, she recognized me adequately to understand how I wasn’t going to discuss anything whenever I wasn’t feeling comfortable with it. Ava was used to my typically guarded demeanor.

“Are you hungry? Let’s eat something,” Ava stated in the end.

So, I made an effort to feel happy. “It’s a perfect idea.”

Then, Ava and I came to the food area and started exploring the various cafés and eateries. I felt eager to try some dishes due to the reasonably wide range that existed. Usually, any special dishes I enjoyed were either cooked at a prominent person’s home, or we came to a high-end eatery on the top ranks. It felt nice to not feel under any need to use my words

and deeds with such care.

When we approached the turn, a tiny cottage style café, nearly hidden by the surrounding plants, grabbed my attention. Somebody might easily pass that without noticing it. It had a certain kind of elegance, that was why I recognized it as the place where I would like to have my initial meal as a regular person.

“Let’s eat there, Ava,” I asked, gesturing toward the tiny

cottage style café.

Ava and I approached it, while looking at the food selection that was displayed outdoors.

“Winona, I think here is somewhat pricey. Could we perhaps go to another place?”

I insisted that I would enjoy the dish there though. For the sake of trying to convince her, I promised something to her. Although I had made a deal with myself, not to frequently attempt purchasing her some stuff since I knew that could make Ava feel uncomfortable, I truly was having my soul fix in that place to eat. The location was stunning yet very intimate.

“Don’t worry, this one is on me.”

“You shouldn’t do that very frequently,” Ava remarked. “I am capable of buying stuff by myself either.”

“But, it’s my initial moment in visiting a typical café. Can we come in, please?”

When I gave her a pleading eyes, she eventually let go of the grimace.

“Alright, let’s come in,” Ava replied after nodding.

I smiled broadly at her and wanted to mention how thrilled I was, but she interrupted me.

“With one condition.”

“What?”

“I think you need to share with me everything that occurred between you and Bash,” she continued, with a worried

expression. “You shouldn’t be reasoned that nothing occurred, I’ve grown to comprehend you and Bash as a close friend during the past several months. There must be something that happened between you two.”

I gnawed through the center of my mouth using my teeth, while wondering if that was truly worthwhile to inform her. I had no idea how to discuss what had occurred and why it had impacted me that much. She would need to know regarding my past life to catch the entire story, something I was unable

to mention.

“Is it truly important? You know, we will never encounter him anymore.”

My too harsh comments caused her to recoil, while I immediately regretted them.

“I won’t generally press you with such an issue, yet I worry and concern about both of you,” she added. “Will you inform me this one time only?”

I whimpered. I might just tell Ava about what happened without giving too much information. He probably thought I was overreacting, even if it was right, but I wasn’t ready to explain why it hurt so much.

“Fine,” I said unwillingly. Maybe I should take a little risk to trust her, my dear friend.
