I try to get my mind to function with him this close, his dominant aura washes over me and I have to turn my head and take a deep inhale of
his scent.
The bond stirs in my body and wants me to lean into him, to feel him under my palm but I know it’s just the bond messing with my mind.
“I have no idea what you are talking about!” I say in a whisper, the only thing I manage to get out of my mouth.
He growls at me before he turns his head and grabs my chin with his hand. Sparks shoot out from his touch and it takes me everything to not lean into him right now.
“You weren’t on a date, it was your lawyer,” he says and I get hit by a wave of his Alpha aura, it washes over me when he looks deep into my
eyes.
“I never said I was going on a date. Heidi said it and you took her for her words. But if you had listened to me before when I told you I don’t waste my time on any men you would have known it wasn’t a date. This only shows you haven’t listened to what I said” I say back to him when he holds my eyes with his for a long moment in silence and lets the words sink in to him.

“But you are right, I did lie about the man in the bar,” I say and feel guilty I lied about it and used Darian for my own purpose.
“I know!” he says and holds my chin in a firmer grip when his facial expression changes and he looked painedey
“I’m sorry I used you, I hoped you would scare him to the point he leaves this city. Without my wolf. I can’t do it myself” I say when he leans closer with his forehead against mine.
“Tell me one thing!” he says and I hear a strange tone in his voice can’t place it, even his aura sends out mixed feelings and I can’t place them.
“What?” I say and feel his hand move over my chin and around my neck where he holds a firm grip on me.
I hear him breathe heavily and his whole body is stiff close to me. My stomach drops and I can’t understand what has made him this way.
“Are you one of his victims?” he says in a pained tone and it hits right in my heart. Does he know about him?
“Victim of what?” I ask and try to sound clueless but the fact is I had to do this for Heidi’s sake and I would have gotten rid of him myself if I could.
“He told me what he has done to a lot of women and I need to know if you are one of his victims,” he says and holds a firmer grip on the back of my neck.

“Does it matter if I am?” I have to ask him. I want to know his answer and it will tell me what kind of man Darian really is. I hear him take a deep breath before he answers.
“Yes, it does! I’m not sure I can live with myself if I left you defenseless against a man like him!” his words hit right into my heart and I never thought he was going to answer it with those words.
I get a lump in my throat and it takes me a moment until I can answer him, I have to swallow several times.
“No I’m not his victim,” I say and the words only get to leave my lips before he pulls me in his arms and holds a hard grip around me. It is almost painful how hard he is squeezing me to his body but I get a feeling he needs it at the moment so I let him.
We stand like that for a long time until it starts to hurt in my lungs and
try to get him to drop his hold on me.
“You don’t have to trick me again. Just tell me who has done anything wrong to you and I will erase every single one of them” he says to my hair and don’t let go of his hold. I stop struggling to get free and place my hands on his waist, just taking in what he said. Did he erase him or what?
“Is he gone?” I have to ask him when we stand like that.
“He can’t harm anyone else ever again” he just state and it hits me what he did. My thought was that he was going to drive him out of this city and maybe just give him a good beating but I never thought he would

“Then you are right, his death will lay on my conscious.” I say to his chest and close my eyes for a second. I should feel guilty about it but I’m not sure I am after reading everything about him and knowing what he did to Heidi’s sister. But he is the first kill I have done even if it wasn’t physically done by my hands.
He let go of his hold on me and grabs my cheeks with both of his hands while he looks me deep in my eyes.
“No, it’s not. I ended his life after he bragged about all the things he had done to his victims. A man like him doesn’t deserve to be left alive. His words alone were enough for me and knowing you tricked me into facing him I know you have someone close to you that is one of his victims” he says and I can’t find any words to say, I feel tears well up in my eyes and threaten to spill over any minute.
This man in front of me has surprised me more than I thought was possible and I hear how sincere he is in his tone. He meant every word he said.
