Chapter 132
Aliza pov
I hear Darian inhale deeply beside me when it feels like the walls are closing in on me, and it’s a pressure on my chest, making it hard to
breathe.
“Aliza, take a deep breath and listen to my voice,” I hear the doctor say, and I try to take a deep breath when my mind is spinning with all my thoughts.
Isn’t she gone? Did I really hear him right?
Holding my hand over my chest when I feel Darian place his arm over my shoulders and pull me closer to him. I hear their voices, but my mind is trying to connect all the pieces together. How could it be?
I felt her leave from me all those years ago when she gave me her last strength and helped me heal. That was the last time I ever felt her, and now he is saying she might not be gone.
I don’t get it, if she hasn’t been with me, then what happened? Where has she been?
All the things I have experienced these last few weeks have me questioning what’s going on, but never in my mind could I ever imagine she might not be gone.
I feel Darian stroke my head when his scent reaches my nose, and it calms my mind. He is here, and whatever the doctor tells us, we will try to figure it out together.
Aliza,” I hear the doctor say when a nurse stands to my side and hands me a glass of something to drink.
Looking at her, it takes me a moment before I raise my hand and take the glass from her. Sitting up, I place the glass on my lips and start to drink it while my hand trembles slightly.
It has both a sweet and sour taste, but I empty the glass and hand it back to her.
“Give it a moment, and you will feel better,” the doctor says, and I sigh
when I try to sort my mind.
“I felt her leave that day, and now you are telling me she might not be gone? Then where is she?” I ask him in a shaky voice when Darian places his arm around my shoulders again.
Resting back in my seat, I look at the doctor when Darian gives my shoulder a light squeeze.
“Let us start from the beginning,” the doctor says, starting to fiddle with some papers before he looks back at us.
“When Darian made you mark him, you healed up quicker than I ever thought you would. I even doubted you would survive, but you proved me wrong, and that’s the first sign I got that she might not be gone. I started to look into other cases where the wolf has been lost,” he says, and I place my hands in my lap and hold them together when I feel Darian let go of my shoulder and place his hand over mine instead.
“After the last time we talked and you told me Darian could place his alpha command over you, it made me certain my observation was right,” he says when Darian turns his head to look at me.

“You never told me this, why?” he asks, and I turn to look at him.
“That’s why I only made it to the car you found me in. If you remember the morning after, it wasn’t the best opportunity to talk to you with everything going on,” I say and try to have him understand when he gets a frown on his face.
“You have had several opportunities to talk to me after! Why haven’t you?” He says, and I feel his disappointment through the bond that I haven’t shared this with him. But how could I when I can’t explain any of it?
“I’m sorry, Darian, but I didn’t understand it myself and wanted to get some information about what’s going on before I told you. With the heat and everything, I wanted to wait and talk to the doctor first,” I say, and when I hear my own words out loud, I know how stupid it sounds to not talk to my mate about it.
“We will talk about this later!” he just says, and I give him a nod before looking back at the doctor.
“So what did you find?” I hear Darian say impatiently.
“I have been in contact with all my colleagues and doctors in different packs until I found one that had some records of a case similar to yours,” he says, turning a paper while I feel my hands start to sweat.
I want to know everything he does and can’t get the information out of him fast enough.
“I had to go over there and talk to them, they are still alive but old and sick,” he says, turning a paper toward us.
“She came from a pack that was rivals to the alpha. When they met and found out they were mates, he marked her, and they spent a night together. The morning after his father forced him to reject her, she accepted when she was threatened by her pack. It didn’t help because once they found out she was pregnant with his child, they forced her out of her pack, and she became rogue,” he explains, and I look at the papers and see them both described as next in line alphas.
By the look of it, their story is similar to ours in some parts. The picture in front of me shows them together with several children.
“Then what happened?” Darian says impatiently
“He couldn’t get her out of his mind and went to search for her. When
he finally found her, she had given birth to a girl. She had lost her wolf and was forced to live in a human town to try to survive. When they saw each other again, they found out they were second chance mates as well, and this time they wouldn’t give up on the bond. She marked him first, and when he marked her, she got her wolf back. The doctor says
I gasp in shock when I hear a chair being dragged back with force and falling to the ground right before I’m being hauled up on my feet so quickly that it has my head spinning.
I find myself in Darian’s arms when he looks at me with his pitch black eyes. His emotions sip through me from the bond, and I can feel his happiness and his hope to make all of this right. His guilt washes over me for what he did to me, and a relief if there is anything he can do to fix it.
I understand why he feels this way, but not all of it is his fault. His grip around my waist increases, and I hold my hands on his upper arms.
“Let me mark you!” he says when he leans his face closer to my shoulder.
