Feeling Darian squeeze my leg, I turn to look at him while sipping on my coffee.
“I told you so!” he says, and I guess I have to drop it, but somewhere back in my mind, it keeps nagging at me.
“Alright then,” I say when Liz places a plate in front of me with scrambled eggs and toast. My stomach starts to rumble, and I don’t wait to dig in. I don’t know when I have been this hungry before.
Well, someone got an appetite today,” Liz says when I have emptied my plate.
“Besides a can of ravioli, I didn’t get to keep anything else yesterday,” I say in my defense when I grab another toast when Darian squeezes my leg.

“Take your time and eat properly, we will be inside my office once you are done,” he says, and I see him and Chase get up from their seats and leave for his office. Seeing Liz look after them before she turns her head and looks at me, I get these strange feelings coming from her, and I know she is sitting on some information she doesn’t want to tell me.
“What is it?” I say and look at her when she shrugs her shoulders at me before she picks up her cup of coffee.
“Liz!” I say and place my cup down on the table while I turn my whole attention to her, it’s clear she is hiding something from me.
“I’m not supposed to tell you,” she says, and now it’s even more important that she does.
She sighs, turns her head, and looks out toward the hallway. I see her listening for a long moment, but I guess they will be occupied for a while, and they have even closed the door.
“Your house needs some fixing,” she says, and looks anxious at me, like she is waiting for my reaction when I calmly sit back and look at her.

“You mean it’s still standing? From what I heard, I guess it would be better to just throw in a match and watch it burn down to the ground than try to save it.” I say to her when she looks at me in shock.
“You know?” she says, and I shrug my shoulders.
“I might not have the hearing of a werewolf, but I did not have to by the loud noises coming from downstairs.
I see her sit back in her chair when she looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
“She should have listened to me,” she says, and now I know she can only mean Heidi.
“What did she do?” I ask her when I see Liz take another sip of her coffee.
“She stayed behind to try and clean up as much as she could,” Liz says,

and my stomach drops at her words.
I know she loves the house just as much as I do, but it’s not worth her being in danger for it.
“She did what?” I burst out when Liz grabs my arm to make me keep my voice down.
“Darian left some guards with her, you know how she is! She couldn’t let you come back to the place with the way it looked, and Darian didn’t want you to feel sad over it, so he and Chase are trying to get contractors over there to fix the place up before you see it,” she says, and I shake my head at this whole thing.
I can’t sit here while I know Heidi is still there and trying to clean the place up because of me. I know the rogues smelled my heat yesterday, and having her stay there when they can still be around and there aren’t enough guards, I just can’t let it be!
