Walking back to the car I get right in the back seat and she takes a blanket from the trunk and places it over me while I lay down to hide.
“I will tell you when you can come up!” she says when I place the blanket just under my jaw until I have to place it over me completely.
“That will be fine and tell me when I have to cover myself up!” I say before she closes the door and I hear her walk over to the driver’s seat and get inside.
“You know how angry he will be if he finds out!” she says and right now I don’t care about it. I need to get a break and collect myself, then I can talk to him about all this.
“You mean it could be worse than this morning?” I say in a sarcastic tone when I hear her chuckle from the front seat.
“Perhaps it would be!” she says and I roll my eyes at the whole thing. It will have to be a problem for later!
“Do you know how it is at work?” I ask her when I feel her make a turn on the road and I rather get something else to think about.

“I talked to Heidi before and they are handling the business but the economy and all the papers are falling behind since you haven’t been there!” she says and I didn’t expect anyone to try and take care of the papers since I’m the only one that can do them. Just happy they can take care of the rest.
“We are almost at the first line of guards!” she says and I’m surprised to hear it.
“You mean there is more than one?” I ask her and have to put my curiosity aside to not look up.
“Yes, this first one is for everyone that going out of the city and the second one is for those that’s coming into the city. What I understood it’s just a precaution after the fight and it won’t be any problem since Chase has told them I’m going home for a short while!” she says and I feel how the car slows down a bit.
Placing the blanket over my head I lay still and listen to the voices outside when she stops the car and rolls down the window.
“Hi, I’m going home a bit to collect more clothes. You can let Chase know I have just left!” I hear Liz say
“Alright, the road over there is secure!” I hear a dark voice say outside the car.
“Thank you!” Liz says and I hear her roll up the window before she starts to drive the car again.

I wait a long moment without saying anything or taking the blanket off me. Just laying and listening to the sounds when she after a short moment slows down a bit.
“Second now!” she says before she starts to speed up and I guess we have passed both of them.
“Now we are through!” she says and I take the blanket off me but continue to lie still in the back seat.
“Why didn’t you tell Chase yourself you were leaving?” I ask her what’s on my mind.
“I can’t keep my feelings from boiling over right now and I know he would feel my anger. I can’t drop what those bitches said about you and if you give me permission I would gladly smack their faces and pull their ugly hair out of their heads” she spits out and I just smile at her. I know she wouldn’t hesitate to do it and probably even take great pleasure in doing so, but it won’t help.
“Then I guess you would have your hands full taking on those two and the rest that feel the same way!” I say when she starts to laugh from her
seat.
“You’re telling me I can get back at them?” she says with enthusiasm in her voice. I chuckle at the sight I get in my head
“Oh, so I can?” she says happily
“I’m not sure it’s the best thing the Beta’s mate should do!” I say to her in response. She is silent for a short moment and I guess she thinks

“Or maybe that’s exactly what I should do!” she says and this time she gets a contagious laugh I can’t help but join her in.
We have been driving a long time in silence and I needed the time to try and get my thoughts straight. There has been too much going on in these days and I needed the time to just think things through and collect myself. I know who I am so why do I let this affect me this way?
Turning my head to think about what has happened instead while I look at the front seat.
I know my car got wrecked and nothing was left of it once it was burned out, besides that a lot in my house was destroyed and nothing is fixed after. The injuries and marking with the fight and the strange things with his command have me completely exhausted.
I didn’t think this much could ever happen in such a small amount of time. Even after I have gone through every event in my head I get nowhere near what I witnessed and heard today, it pains me too much and I realize how far I have let him in my heart.
“We are almost there!” she says and I look out the window instead of staring up at the ceiling of the car.

“No, I haven’t seen anyone since we left his pack grounds. Don’t think anyone is still here and you are supposed to be back there!” she says and I slowly start to sit up when I see her turn in on the parking lot behind our work.
“Well, we are here!” she says when her phone starts to ring in her bag. I see her reach for it before she declines the call and starts to type on the phone instead.
“Chase?” I ask her when she sighs and places the phone back in her bag.
“Yes, just told him I have arrived and am on my way to go inside and gather some stuff!” she says and opens the door when I do the same and get outside.
Looking around it feels like ages since I was here the last time and now it would be for the best if I got inside my office and gathered the papers that are most urgent to have done. There is probably a large pile of bills I have to get through as well.
“I’m heading into my office and see how far behind I have fallen!” I say to her when we start to walk closer to the doors.
“I have told Chase this won’t take more than a few hours so we can’t stay long,” she says and I take a few steps toward the door.
“That’s alright by me, I will get as much I can before we need to head back. I’m in here when you are done!” I tell her before she turns around and heads over to the apartment we have.
