Isabella’s POV
I know he told me not to wait up but I did anyway. Did he really expect me to just sleep while he was still out working? Weren’t we supposed to get a honeymoon or something of the sort? Why was he always so busy?
I was feeling sleepy earlier before he came in but I no longer felt sleepy. I was bored and I wanted my mate to walk in through the doors right now. Wrinkling my brow at that thought, I wondered just how I became so whipped. I flashed back to when we confessed that we loved each other and blushed. I don’t know when I realized that I was in love with my mate. It wasn’t at first sight of course since we were enemies for quite some time, I thought to myself with a small chuckle. Somewhere along the line though, we had decided to try to make things work. Smiling to myself, I kicked off the covers and since my PJs were the decent sort, I didn’t bother with a robe as I made my way to the door. Maybe downstairs would be much more interesting.
Deciding to go get a drink or a snack or something, I unlocked the door and pushed it open only to be faced by three stony faced guards. “I’m sorry Luna, but you can’t go out.” The one in front said and I narrowed
my eyes.
“What do you mean, I can’t go out? Why would I need your permission to go out anyway?”
“I have no say in whether you can or cannot go out, of course ma’am but this isn’t from me, I’m only acting on the orders of the Alpha ma’am.” He said.
I narrowed my eyes, “What, do I have a curfew now? Is it past my bedtime or something?“I joked sarcastically but they didn’t budge.

“I’m sorry Luna.” He said again, while the others just stood there, stiff and unsmiling.
Clenching my teeth, I rolled my eyes and went back inside. Why were they so serious? Would they lose their jobs if they cracked a small smile? All I wanted was some fresh air and to stretch my legs a bit and they were being so uptight. And what was with this ‘the Alpha said you can’t go out‘ anyway. Why was Alexander trying to keep me trapped in here? I narrowed my eyes and went to look for my phone.
While I was still looking, my mind flashed back to just moments ago when Alexander was here. He had seemed…off. I had just brushed it off as stress and that he would be better after we unwind for bed but then he had to rush off again. That was hours ago now that I thought of it, so where the hell was he. I kept looking for my phone which I could swear that I hadn’t moved from the bed but I couldn’t find it. Losing hope on the phone, I tried to mindlink Alexander but for some weird reason, the mindlink seemed blocked and I couldn’t reach him. I was seriously worried by then as I slumped down on the bed.
Where on earth was my mate and was something wrong? I couldn’t find my phone and I couldn’t mindlink him, I was very worried. After lying there for a couple of minutes, I finally got the good sense to try reaching Blake.
Blake! I said when I found that I could reach him. Is something wrong? Alexander isn’t back and I can’t reach him. They wouldn’t even let me leave my room.
Alexander is alright. Don’t worry about him. He said simply before abruptly cutting off the mindlink. I raised my brow, shocked and confused. What the hell was that? I tried to link him again but it was to no avail.
I don’t know how I managed to fall asleep with how worried I was but I eventually dozed off alone in that room, knowing that Alexander did not

come back that night. When I woke up the next morning, something seemed off and I soon realized that it was the absence of maids in my room that was responsible for that. I had gotten so used to having them bustling in early in the morning without a care for privacy no matter how annoying it was so when I woke up to an empty quiet room, I was quite confused.
Of course the first thing I noticed though, was that my mate was still absent. I sighed as I climbed out of bed and went into the en–suite to brush my teeth and wash my face. I changed after that, into my outfit of the day and went to the door. The stony faced guards were there again and I rolled my eyes. I decided it was a new day though and so my curfew has probably ended so imagine my shock when they once again tell me that I cannot leave.
“Excuse me? It’s a new day, I can go have breakfast if I want to, can I not? And I have places to go. Call Alexander and have him know that I want to leave.” I said frustratedly as I infused a commanding tone into my words.
“Your breakfast would be served in your room. I’m sorry Luna but the Alpha has instructed us not to let you out until he gets back.”
I wanted to yell, to say some very colorful words and to demand whether a Luna does not have freedom of movement and all those other rights that were probably being breached right now. I wanted to demand what was going on and infuse whatever authority I have to make them allow me pass but I just swallowed. I swallowing all the words and frustration before going back in and it took everything in me not to slam the door like a kid during a tantrum.
Breakfast was indeed brought a couple of minutes later. It was served by just one maid. She smiled at me as she put the food down and that was all. I contemplated whether to ask her or not to ask for several minutes before I finally blurted out, “Is everything alright in the pack today?” I asked her and I’m sure my eyes were not playing tricks on me when I saw her turn quite pale.

“Of course, Luna.” She said before hurrying out.
I had a quiet miserable breakfast.

I mean, the food was great but my mind was not at rest. I was confused and worried and frankly also annoyed and I still could not find my phone for the life of me. It was like I was on house arrest and I still do not know my crime. I just hope my crime isn’t being the Luna cause I’m starting to think that I shouldn’t have believed Alexander’s mom when she sugar coated ‘Luna duties‘. What, is sitting alone in my room all day part of Luna duties?
When I was done eating, I sat and stared at my empty plate for almost an hour, my irritation growing by the minute. Unable to take it any longer. I catapulted to my feet and stormed to the door, slamming it open. I have to see Chloe today and I have to go to the shops to get her a gift first. These people will not keep me here without an explanation. ‘It’s the Alpha’s orders does not suffice‘.
“Move, I have places to be.” I ordered and the guard that usually spoke wrinkled his brow looking quite conflicted.
“Luna…” He began but I raised my hand, silently shutting him up.
“Do not Luna me. I have places to be and you will not continue to keep me here without an explanation.”
“The Alpha–” He began but I cut him off.
“That will not suffice.” I gritted out. “That will not suffice.” I repeated. “I want an actual reason why I’m not allowed to go out or I’m leaving anyway. Am I on house arrest or something? If so, can I at least know my crime? Is this some sort of Rapunzel story? Is your Alpha trying to keep me locked in here?!” I yelled and they all flinched.
“No, Isabella. I am not trying to keep you locked in.”

I turned behind me to the direction of the voice to see exactly who the voice and scent told me that it was. There he was, my prodigal mate. I glared at him even though it was quite relieving to see him. I had been beginning to fear the worst but here he was even though he was still in the same clothes as yesterday and looked like he needed a full eight hours of sleep.
“You better have a good reason for this.” I told him, pushing my
sentiments aside and focusing on how displeased and annoyed I was before storming back into the room.
