Isabella’s POV
I was a nervous wreck as I stood in front of the majestic oak doors of the former Alpha and Luna’s suite. I should have knocked a couple minutes ago but my anxiety was crippling me. I wasn’t sure what I would say or do once I got in there but I guess it was my fault for not being prepared.
I should have known that sooner or later this day would come. That I would have to meet them and sit with them and have a
conversation. It wasn’t like it would be the first time I would
have a conversation with the Alpha and Luna and it definitely wasn’t their position that scared me.
What scared me was that this time I wasn’t going to meet them as Isabella, the daughter of the Alpha’s old friend and art prodigy as he liked to call me. No, this time, I was going to be meeting them as Isabella, their son’s mate, and soon–to- be–announced Luna. It was definitely frightening.
“Are you okay, Luna?”
I jumped slightly before turning to see the maid that had led me up watching me curiously.
I waved her off, “I’m alright.” I said simply before knocking on the door.
The door was opened by another maid who bowed slowly before directing me to the dining room where my mate’s parents no doubt were.

Taking a deep breath, I followed her directions and walked down there where they were already seated. I bowed in greeting to both of them while Alexander’s mom got up, a wide beautiful smile on her face as she pulled me into the most spontaneous comforting hug ever.
Lunas naturally have a motherly and comforting spirit in them and I was positive that if I stayed in her embrace for another minute, I would fall asleep in her arms. I bit my lip, wondering if I had such a spirit too, and worrying that I didn’t.
When she let me go, she showed me where to sit, which was opposite her and on the other side of Alexander’s father. When the Luna began to pile food onto my plate, I was quick to assure her that I could do it myself but she just waved me off. There was nothing else I could do but smile.
I appreciated how everyone’s reaction to seeing me for the first time after my rescue was to stuff me with food instead of saying a word about how much weight I had lost.
Wearing the dress that Alexander bought was a bold step for me but it was worth it because I was a lot more comfortable now and besides, I was really starting to gain my weight back. I still wondered whether the Luna’s action was purely a kind gesture or a ploy to silently fatten me. Either way though, I didn’t mind at all.
I dug into the food and hummed my appreciation to the Luna‘ s delight. The food was truly delicious. I could see where Alexander got his skills from and when I told her that, she simply laughed, modestly brushing it off.
Her face contorted into a frown after that and while I debated with myself on whether to ask her what was wrong or not, she

“I’m sorry for the way Alexander treated you before now, my dear. Regardless of his fears that you’d get hurt, ignoring you wasn’t the best option either and I feel quite ashamed at the way he behaved. I didn’t think I raised him that way.”
I was quite speechless, appreciating the unexpected solidarity I was getting from this woman as she acknowledged her son’s wrongs and sided with me against him but I was at a loss for what to say.
“Has he apologized?” His father asked. He had barely spoken but knowing that that was just his nature, it didn’t bother me. His question still took me by surprise though, making me jump slightly.
I swallowed my food while nodding, “He has.” I told them both. “I had some things to apologize about as well. There were a lot of misunderstandings.”
His mom beamed, “I’m just glad that you both are together and happy.”
Me too, I thought.
The conversation went more smoothly after that. We laughed and discussed a lot of different things. I asked the Alpha about his health and when he told me that the illness was all in the past, I actually felt relieved.
It was refreshing to hear someone talk about their son the way Alexander’s mom did and I loved learning all the new things I learned about him. His dad didn’t speak much but I think hearing him say that he was glad that I was his son’s mate was enough for me, especially from someone as intense

I realized how extremely careless it was to not have my phone on me at a time like this and yes it wasn’t intentional but mistakes could be careless.
Wanting nothing else but to calm him down, I closed the space between us and wrapped my arms around him. His heart was indeed beating as though he had just run a marathon and after several seconds of no response, he finally hugged me back and I sighed in relief. “I’m sorry,” I mumbled into his chest. And when his grip on me tightened, I felt like I had been forgiven. I waited for his heartbeat to go back to normal before looking up at him.
“I’m sorry I worried you,” I whispered. “I didn’t realize I had left my phone back here. I was with your parents. They wanted to see me.”
