Alexander’s POV
When I got back home, it was past midnight. I took the stairs two at a time until I got there only to see Isabella curled up on the couch, her lips parted to allow the quietest sighs to escape as she slept.
I smiled as I watched her, had she always been this cute? Or was I just officially whipped?
Slipping my hands underneath her, I carried her gently, propping her up against my chest. She stirred a bit but she didn’t wake up. I dropped her gently onto the bed, putting a pillow beside her which she hugged instantly.
I chuckled, brushing her hair from her face as I just watched her. She had taken a bath and while I loved smelling my body wash on her, I didn’t mind at all that her mom had brought hers. Her scent was divine. Her face was scrubbed clean of all makeup and I loved how peaceful she looked like that.
Her dress from tonight was probably hung somewhere in my closet while she slept in one of my T–shirts. I knew she had her own night clothes here but I loved that she loved to sleep in mine so I wasn’t complaining.
The days building up until today hadn’t been easy. Isabella had woken up the next morning after she got back, eyes widened in horror and a shriek escaping her lips as she jumped back. I had never been more pained to be mistaken for my brother. I didn’t know what even hurt more, being

instead of going to my study in case Isabella woke up and looked for me. As much as I would prefer laying beside her and going to sleep, I still had a lot of work to do.
Antonio was still out there and that was an unfortunate fact.
Isabella told me of his intentions and I finally swallowed the bitter pill that there was no helping or reasoning with Antonio.
Any sentiment on my part would only lead to losing my family. Although I was confident that it would be impossible for him to kidnap Isabella again, I knew that it was all still dangerous.
I had fished out all the spies and had them locked up in the dungeon. I had planned to have them all killed immediately for the danger they helped bring into the pack and to my mate but I forced my anger down knowing that they were still needed if I wanted any information about Antonio and where he could be.
My father had gotten better as I expected and I was glad that he had fought the illness as fiercely as I had hoped he would. Now that he was alright though all he did was pester me to bring Isabella to come visit them.
I had been putting it away because I did not want to put any sort of pressure on her although something told me that she would not mind at all.
I buried myself in work and went to sleep a couple of hours later, spooning Isabella while she immediately cuddled into me even in her sleep. I fell asleep with a smile and the next morning while I got ready for training, Isabella got into the bathroom telling me that she had a shopping date with Chloe.
She wanted to get more clothes since she was going to be

Knowing that Isabella would still be out with Chloe, I decided not to be a pest by calling her and decided to stop at my parents‘ first before going home to change.
Although my dad was fine now, I had decided to make it a habit to visit my parents as frequently as I could. Today though, I realized it was a mistake immediately. My mom started peering behind me as I entered and my dad bluntly asked if I came with Isabella.
“Why are you so bent on seeing her?” I chuckled.
“And why are you so bent on keeping her hidden?” He retorted.
“That is not what I’m doing.” I groaned as I sat down on the couch.
“Then what are you doing?” My mom quipped coming to sit right beside me.
I blinked at her. “You too?!” I ran my hand over my face. I thought I was only getting attacked by my dad. Now I felt like I was being hounded. I guess I was the fool for expecting her to pick her son’s side over her mate’s.
“Well forgive me for wanting to see my son’s mate.”
“Who he hid from us until she had a near–death experience.”
“Oh come on.” I sighed, the word ‘death‘ making me very uncomfortable in this conversation.
“If you don’t bring her we will come over there.” My father shrugged.
“You guys should just relax. You’ll meet my mate. A little bit of

patience wouldn’t hurt.”
“Hmph.” My mom rolled her eyes, getting up. “What would you like? Coffee or some fresh orange juice?”
A few more minutes later and I was sipping orange juice and having to listen to my parents name their future grandchildren. I had opted for coffee and ended up wondering why my mom bothered to give me options when she was just going to do whatever she liked in the end.
After begging them to drop the grandchildren’s talk when I finally brought Isabella and warning them not to make her uncomfortable, I left knowing I still had a busy day ahead.
