Thirty–One
Isabella’s POV
I’ve never known as much boredom as these last two days. It really made me realize that I’d take a stressful day at work to being unwillingly tied down with nothing to do and no place to go. And I need to put it on my to–do list to kill Alexander whenever I see him just in case I forget because this maid idea was just as terrible as I imagined it.
Just as he said, she really wasn’t going to let me do a single thing which was why I locked myself up in my room all day after strictly banning her from ever coming in.
But now, I was starving and I wanted to cook something to eat so I carefully opened the door and tiptoed out, quietly making my way to the kitchen only to jump when I saw her at the stove with her back to me. She turned to me with a smile on her face, “I expected that you’d get hungry soon so I already started on lunch. You’d love this recipe ma’am.”
I sighed, sinking into the couch in the living room. When she finally finished and dished out the food, I made sure she ate as well before groaning.
“What is it, ma’am?” Lisa asked quickly.
“I just remembered an errand I had to run.”
“Tell me, I’ll do it.” She offered immediately and I smiled deviously before putting back on a straight but slightly distressed face.

“Well, it’s quite far,” I said and she shrugged.
“That doesn’t matter.”
Wonderful!
“The thing is…I’m out of ice cream and I only buy ice cream. from Conez.”

“Conez?” She repeated, her eyes wide and I nodded hoping she’d continue to stand by her orders and do it. Conez was at the farthest part of the pack and it took almost two hours to get there. I barely ever ate ice cream from Conez unlike what I said.
In fact, I think I’ve had it just once. But I was desperate to be free of her for even a couple of hours. She didn’t sleep over but she was here first thing in the morning and left last thing every day. I mean, she practically tucks me in at night. So if this was what I had to do to get my sanity back, then so be it.
I went back inside to get one of my credit cards before handing it to her, “You’d go, wouldn’t you?” I asked with a pout.
She smiled, “Of course. Just…just don’t strain yourself while I‘ m gone.” She added warily and I just nodded before practically shooing her out.
When she was gone, I turned on the TV and flopped down on the couch. I mean, it’s not like I couldn’t use some help but being in my space for ten hours every day? Alexander really deserved to be hanged for this because my sanity was at stake.
Lisa overall was not a bad person. She was nice, she was a

good cook but she was also bossy and politely scolds me when I touch anything in my own house. Somehow the politeness she does made it much more annoying cause if I lost my cool, I’d be the bad person.
Suddenly a knock came at the door and I tensed. Was she back already? Wait, does Conez offer home delivery? What if she decided it was more sensible to do that instead and
comes back to watch me like a hawk? Well, I’m definitely not going to let her in. I deserve a day to myself.
What was the use of having all this time of work if I don’t even get to have some alone time? She could rat on me to Alexander for all I care. I’d get him before he gets me…if he even cares enough to do anything about it. Maybe he’ll just shrug and be like, ‘Well I tried my best‘? The knock sounded again and I sighed before dragging my ass to the door.
Checking the door cam, I raised my brow when I saw whose enlarged face it was at my door. It definitely wasn’t Lisa. Opening the door, I put on a smile. “What a surprise.”
He grinned. “Bella, it’s good to see that you’re strong enough to smile at me.”
I scowled instantly, “Don’t get used to it.”
He chuckled, “You’re still on your feet so I’m glad.”
“Where did you get the idea that I was hurt so badly?”
“I saw you appear suddenly during the fight and you never came out of the gallery. I was really worried, especially since no one knew where you were. I’ve been asking everybody, which hasn’t been easy since we are keeping the incident a secret from the rest of the pack.”

I blinked, “Oh. Well, I was actually injured but I’m fine now. I was at the hospital all this while and…”
“The hospital? I called the hospital.”
I gave him a guilty look, “Sorry, not sorry Blakey, I told them not to let anyone know that I was there or let anyone visit me.” I lied easily and gulped silently when his eyes narrowed.
“That’s so unfair and don’t ever call me Blakey again.”
I chuckled, “Why? I think I like it better than plain old Blake.”
He gasped exaggeratedly, “Plain old Blake?”
I giggled while we gravitated toward the couch. I let him sit while I went to the kitchen to browse through my available snacks. Unable to decide what to pick, I just grab a tray and pile up bags of chips, chocolate bars, two cans of soda, and some Skittles before going back to the living room where Blake gaped at me.
“I’m not saying you have to eat it all.” I laughed, “I just didn’t know what your preference was.”
He chuckled, “Fair enough.” Just then the doorbell rang out and I tensed before glancing towards the door. “You expecting someone?”
“Um, not really?” I said before getting up, imagining a very sweaty Lisa, holding a bag with a bucket of ice cream in her hand which managed to stay intact even after she did a
marathon to and fro the ice cream shop. Oh goddess, she wouldn’t run over there in wolf form, would she? That would really beat the traffic.

Checking the door cam to be sure it was her so that I can just ignore it, I’m shocked to see two enlarged faces instead. Was today ‘Visit Bella Day‘ or something? Then I looked into the screen again, amused by how horrible the bird’s eye view had made Chloe’s nose look before going to open the door.
Chloe flung herself into my arms while I stood there, like a stick with my arms stuck to my sides, surprised by the sudden action. Ryder just stood there awkwardly with a bag of what looked like groceries in his hands.
“We’ve been calling you for a week, Bella. Why haven’t you been picking up?” Chloe groaned before releasing me. “Do you hate us again?”
“Not really… No, no” I corrected when Chloe’s eyes widened before they dropped to the ground. “You didn’t hear from me and your first thought was that I’m starving?”
Ryder’s eyes widened, “Not at all, we just thought we should bring something along.” He said, waving his free hand.
“Since when did you guys ever have to do something like that?” I chuckled, “Come in.”
“I told you, babe.” Chloe said while Ryder just stared at her like he didn’t know what she was talking about.
They came in and I locked the door behind them, hoping that would be the last of unexpected guests today. While Ryder made his way to the kitchen to drop off the stuff they
brought, Chloe went straight into the kitchen gasping at the unexpected presence. I bit my lip just as she opened her mouth.
“RYDER, I THINK WE CAME AT THE WRONG TIME!”

I facepalmed while Blake winced. Ryder also came in at that same time, taking in the scene.
“Guys, this is Blake, he’s my uh…he’s my friend.”
Blake’s eyes widened, “Seriously?”
“You have other friends?”
“I didn’t even know you had friends at all,” Blake said and I glared at him.
“You’re the Beta right?” Ryder asked curiously.
“I am actually. Nice to meet you, uh…”
“Ryder.”
“And I’m Chloe.”
“Nice to meet you, Chloe.”
“Are you and Bella mates?” Chloe whispered.
“Goddess Chloe, no! Nothing is going on between us either. I said we’re friends!”
“Okay, okay, sheesh.” She looked at the TV and her face scrunched up, “Who put that on?” She said and I glanced at it too only to scrunch up my nose as well while the guys looked between us before looking at each other in disbelief.
“Are you guys serious? I didn’t even know it was out yet. I’ve been waiting…”
Chloe grabbed the remote and turned it off before pecking Ryder on the cheek, “I’m sorry baby. I promise to watch it with

you later but right now, I’m in the mood to play a game.” She nodded happily while I groaned, immediately knowing what Chloe’s game of choice would be.
I doubled the snacks and drinks and soon we were two rounds into a game of Truth or Drink and I had managed to not drink at all since I had been getting the easy questions.
The game had luckily not gotten so heated and just when Chloe declared that it was about to, the doorbell rang and I groaned.
