Alexander’s POV
When I came back from that much–needed run, I went somewhere I should’ve gone since but had been
procrastinating. I knocked just once before I heard his voice on the other side of the door.
“Come in, Alexander.”
I took in a deep breath and exhaled heavily before twisting the door handle and pushing the door open. Now that I really looked at it, this suite was a lot smaller than the actual Alpha suite that I now stayed in. Well, I mean, mine was an entire wing on its own. After the run, I had found my lost appetite and scarfed down the food I made earlier in the day before deciding to come here.
My dad was sitting on the couch, his phone was beside him and he was drinking from a cup which he dropped on a coaster on the table before turning to me, “Well, it’s about time.” He said and I sucked in my lips.
“Is that Alexander?” I heard my mom’s voice call out before she finally appeared in all her radiant, slow–aging glory.
I smiled at her and she came, spreading out her arms for a hug which I gladly accepted, hugging her back. Just before she let me go she flicked the back of my head and my eyebrows shot up, my hand instinctively going to rub the spot.

“Ouch Mum, that was enough to make me go bald.”
“We don’t grow bald in this family. Our hair genes are strong.”
My mom and I both chuckled softly. If by chance my father ever loses his hair, that would be the day he dies. My mom’s face quickly contorted in a pout once more.
“Do you know how worried I was? That flick wasn’t even up to what you really serve. You give birth to a child and then he grows up and forgets all about you.”
I chuckled and she glared at me, “But seriously Mom, that’s an exaggeration and you should know that.” I leaned in, “You’re my favorite parent, y’know? Father doesn’t even worry about me.”
I caught her smile before her face hardened again, “That’s why you want to worry me to death, right? You know me, I was about to go to you myself but your dad stopped me saying you’d come and we should just wait.” She slapped my arm, “I was really worried Alexander, don’t do that again.”
I nodded slowly, now feeling terribly guilty, “I’m sorry Mom.”
“For some reason, I can’t stay angry with you.” She pouted before smiling. “Have you had breakfast?” When I nodded she said, “Okay then, I’ll bring you something to drink.”
I smiled at her as she disappeared into the kitchen while I went to sit before my father. Just then I thought about what my mother said about my father stopping her when she wanted to come up and see me.
At first, I was glad but now I wonder if he stopped her because somehow he already knew that Isabella was there

with me. My father had been the head of this pack as well as this house for years just a couple of months ago. Could I really fool him? Does he know after all?
“So? What have you been working on?” He asked, breaking
into my thoughts and honestly, I was thankful for the distraction. “I mean you have to have been working on something to put off this meeting for this long.
“Um…” I was working on making sure my mate gets better did not seem like the best reply. “There has been a lot to tidy up. Some paintings had been destroyed that day, so I needed to have a meeting with the artists about compensation. I’ve also had to talk extensively with the security, fighters, trackers… basically, everyone involved in keeping our pack safe. I know we decided not to tell the rest of the pack about what happened, so we don’t create unrest but I’m working towards making them more security conscious somehow. More training hours and all that.” I told him which wasn’t a lie in the slightest. I actually did and am doing all this stuff.
“Hmm,” My father shifted in his chair, scratching his stubble while I sipped on the fresh juice my mother had brought at some point during my talk. “And you don’t think they’d use their common sense to find out that there must be a reason why you’re telling them to be more security conscious?”
“I have thought of that. It’s why I’ve not done anything about it yet. I’m still working on how best to go about it.”
“I see. Well, if I have any ideas I can chip in…if you’d like of course.”
I gave him an incredulous look, “Your ideas and advice are always welcome Dad, you know that.”

“Do I? I thought I wasn’t your favorite parent.”
My mouth fell open before I chuckled softly, “I didn’t know you were listening…or that you’d even think anything of it.”
“Hmm, so the problem is me hearing it.” He grunted and I ran my fingers through my hair.
“I shouldn’t have said that.”
“Yeah, but I understand though and although people say you should never have favorites I don’t think it’s something you choose to do. I believe it just happens and even if you don’t say it, you know it deep down. You followed it up by saying I don’t even worry about you and I get why you’d say that.
I Really, I do. I’m the stricter parent and I barely ever show my true emotions. While your mom would hug you and kiss you on the forehead, I’d go out and buy you a toy car cause I noticed that you seemed interested in them or buy you candy cause I heard you say you wanted it the other day.
“While your mother would cry and hug you when you got back home late and your number was going to voice mail and she was worried, I’d yell at you and punish you for making me worry. This is the last time I’d speak on this topic but it all goes to say, I care about you son and you should know that.”
I couldn’t help the grin that stretched out on my face at my dad’s speech and the uncomfortable expression he wore afterward.
“I love you too, Dad.” I mused and he just sneered, causing me to burst out laughing.
He began to scroll through his phone and I could tell the
meeting was practically over. If I stayed here any longer I

would probably get scolded for sitting around when I could
be working on important matters after which I would receive a lecture on how to manage time wisely.
Getting up, I made to go say goodbye to my mom when my dad cleared his throat causing me to sit back down. “How is Isabella Rossi?”
I stilled, “What?”
“I heard she got hurt in the attack. Do you know if she’s alright?”
I let out a heavy sigh. I really thought he had found out somehow. I had already been suspecting it after all and then he asked me that and my mind just started running. Keeping this whole thing a secret was beginning to really weigh on me. “I believe she is. I think she had a couple of minor injuries which I’m guessing should have healed by now.”
My dad nodded and I exhaled again. I had been trying to sound nonchalant but concerned enough as the Alpha of the pack. I don’t know if I nailed it but nothing in my dad’s face was giving off any suspicion.
“Oh good. Her father is a good friend of mine, you know and remember when you both used to play together as kids? Time really flies, doesn’t it?”
My eyes bulged wide, “Isabella and I?”
My father looked at me like I was joking. “You don’t remember? That’s impossible. You both were like best friends.”
“Oh, now that is impossible. Blake has always been my best

friend.”
“Okay well, you guys played together from when you were like three to six years old so I guess that’s understandable that you don’t really remember it but seriously, nothing?”
I shook my head, “Not at all.”
“That’s insane.” He said chuckling while I gave a short laugh, still in complete awe over what I just heard.
“Glad to see you boys bonding, lunch is served, come on.” My mom popped out of the kitchen to tell us.
“Boys?” My father murmured.
“Mom, I was just about to leave,” I told her and she tsked.
“If you think I’m trying to trap you, you’re right. Come on to the table. It’s not like you ever willingly come to eat with us so I’ll make sure to leave you no choice whenever I have the chance.”
I groaned, “You should have prevented me from learning to cook, I’d be here every day.” I said before getting up. She gave me a slight glare and I chuckled, walking to her before she hit me with that deadly–looking spatula in her hand.
