Alexander’s POV

It was an early Friday morning and Blake, I, and the guys were going over a few things in the office. Matters concerning the pack and our neighboring packs.
“It’s still hard to believe.” Mason piped up. There was a look of disbelief in his eyes and I couldn’t blame him, I was finding everything hard to believe these days too.
“Not really, allied packs betray each other all the time.” Blake countered. He was the more practical of the group and saw things the same way I did. “It wouldn’t be the first time.” He finished.
“Just look at the Grey Oak pack and what they did to the Green Bay pack. They killed their Alpha and took over their territory and this was days before a peace treaty was to be signed.” Blake continued.
Caleb pinched the bridge of his nose, a skeptical look on his face. He didn’t look like he believed it and I understood. The silver pack had been a big ally to our pack even before Father’s reign, so it made zero sense for them to be the ones betraying us now but it was getting harder to hold out hope for them.
“Yes but that’s different,” he started, “The silver pack and ours have been allied for decades now, I don’t think they’d betray us like that ”

“Well, all evidence leads to them being the culprits,” Mason interjected.
“Exactly!” Blake confirmed.
“Have you spoken to the Alpha?”
“tried to but he’s being stubborn…” I said as I rubbed at my temple. I
was trying to keep the peace even though I was itching to wage war against them. It wouldn’t be a good look for my pack to just throw our allyship out the window.
“There, you have it, ” Blake exclaimed, “If he’s evading and being stubborn he’s definitely behind a lot of these random packs fighting each other.”
It had been a total of six weeks since the incident with the pine document and there was still some underlying tension between the guys and I and probably everyone else.
It had not made any sense then and still didn’t make sense now how the document had suddenly gone missing especially since it was under lock and key Blake and the guys were very meticulous people, especially regarding pack business, so it had seemed very odd when they’d misplaced the Pine document.
Now, I was beginning to think it had been stolen rather than misplaced since the silver pack was using information tied to the document against other packs.
I had no concrete proof of the silver pack’s actions or if they’d actually

been the ones to steal the document. All I knew was that someone had and they’d been using the little information that was in the document against the packs that were under my wings.
I’ve been getting distress calls from some of the smaller packs under me for weeks now and as much as I wanted to believe it was a coincidence, I knew the attacks were connected to the pine document.
“Do you think it has anything to do with the stolen document?” Caleb asked.
“I think it has everything to do with it,” I said evenly, trying not to let my anger get the best of me. “If the silver pack is responsible for taking the document and are now using the information against us then I think it’s time we cut ties with them.” I finished.
“I think we are being a little hasty,” Caleb said quietly.
“Then what do you suggest?” I asked, leaning into my chair.
Mason was about to open his mouth to say something when my phone vibrated, indicating that I had just received a message.
I put up my hands for him to hold on and checked the message. My eyes widened in shock as I read the message.
“What’s wrong?” Blake asked, standing up and peering into my phone as he noticed the look in my eyes.

I glanced up at him, my eyes still holding the shock. “I just got a three million dollars debit alert from the bank.”
The color drained out of the faces of the men. “What?” Blake barked, his eyes wide.
With confusion, I dialed the number of my bank manager and he picked up immediately.
“What the hell is going on Mathew?” I barked into the phone.
“Is there a problem, Alpha?”
“Yes, there’s a fucking problem, I just got debited three million dollars from my account!”
“Yes, the Luna was here earlier to withdraw that exact amount. I thought you sent her. She had a signed check from you.” he explained. – confusion in his voice. “Uhm, I really wasn’t aware-”
I cut the call without letting him finish and stood up abruptly, my chair falling behind me.
“Shit!” I cursed under my breath as I combed my hands through my hair, my mind running a mile a minute. Something was definitely
Wrong
“Why the hell would the Luna withdraw such a huge amount without telling you tho,” Blake asked, his expression one of bewilderment “Is something wrong with Isabella?”

“She’s in trouble, fuck! I should have known this sooner.” My voice echoed in the enclosed space.
“What do you mean?” Caleb asked just as confused as Blake and Mason.
Ignoring the men, who were all standing looking utterly confused, I dialed Isabella’s number.
“The number you are trying to call is currently unreachable.” The automated voice spoke.
“Shit!” I cursed and barged out of my office and ran up to our room to search for her.
I pushed the door open when I got there with more force than I intended. When I walked into the room, she was nowhere to be found. I ran up to her private quarters still dialing her number again when I couldn’t find her.
I punched the wall in anger, shutting my eyes to keep myself stable as I began to hyperventilate.
How could I have been so stupid and careless? She’d been shaken up early this morning when I had come back from the training center, and when I had asked her what was wrong with her, she had told me she was just having morning sickness.
I hadn’t thought much of it because it had been happening a lot lately I had told her I’d be back, that I had a meeting with the guys and she had shooed me to leave. If only I’d stayed a couple of minutes more to

really ask her what was wrong.
With my knuckles now a bloody mess and my heart in my throat, I ran outside the mansion and found Isabella’s guards waiting around.
“Where’s the Luna?” I asked, my anger evident in my voice.
They both glanced at each other confused. “She should be in the house, Alpha.”
It took everything in me not to punch the hell out of both men.
“You don’t know where she is, do you?” I growled, watching as they squirmed under my angry gaze.
Lisa passed just then and I beckoned her, and she bowed. “Where’s Isabella?” I asked, uninterested in her formality.
“She should be in the garden, sir. She said she wanted to be alone and that I should make something for her.”
“And you listened to her?”
She shrunk at my outburst. “I… I didn’t…” she began to stutter.
“Alexander, I need to talk to you.”
A familiar voice called and I turned to find Ryder walking towards me He looked agitated and a bit shaken but I didn’t care to speak to him

right now. I glared at him as he marched towards me.
“I do not have time to talk, Ryder,” I said, about to turn around and walk towards the garden even though I knew she wouldn’t be there.
“Wait, it’s urgent.”
With an annoyed sigh. I turned around. “Make it quick. What is it?”
“It’s Chloe. I’ve not been able to reach her since last night. Where is she?”
The color drained from my face as the gravity of the situation dawned on me. Chloe had been here yesterday to visit Isabella but she’d left later that evening, according to Isabella.
“I called her last night, but she didn’t pick up. Isabella had told me she was asleep and would be back home tomorrow. I wanted to come pick her up by myself but she had refused, saying I’d just disturb her sleep.” His breath hitched. “But when I called again this morning, none of them were picking up. They couldn’t possibly still be sleeping, could they? It’s 11:am!”
Ryder asked, his voice agitated and his body stiff as a rod.
I hit the wall with my fist and cursed out when I realized the situation was worse than I thought I had been holding out a tiny hope that Isabella was okay but with Ryder’s revelation, I knew something terrible had happened.

There was definitely something wrong and Isabella was in trouble and it was looking like it was all my fault. Shit!
