Isabella’s POV
“Lisa, get ready we are going to the Doctor today,” I said to the maid over breakfast the next day.
I’d been unable to sleep after the message Antonio had sent me. Angry and upset, I had spent the night tossing and turning, waiting for dawn so I could go to the doctor to get answers.
How had he gotten his hands on the scan from the ultrasound so soon too? Had he followed me? It both scared and angered me that he had managed to get it mere hours after the test.
“Yes, Luna but we don’t have an appointment until next week.” She said, with furrowed brows as she placed a cup of tea in front of me.
“It doesn’t matter, just do as I say.” I snapped.
She looked at me still confused but nodded. “Sure ma’am. I will go prepare.” She added.
“No need for that, just inform the driver we’ll be going to the hospital in an hour.”
Lisa paused, she looked like she wanted to say something but quickly decided against it, probably realizing I wasn’t in the mood for questions. “I’ll let him know.” She finally spoke and left the dining hall

I ate my Mac and cheese in silence. Mason and Caleb were the only ones present and they seemed preoccupied with their laptops in front of them. I was glad Alexander was not around though. He’d left before I woke up this morning for a pack meeting.
There were rumors of riots going on around the southern border which was unusual because the southern border was known for its peace- making inhabitants.
Maybe it wasn’t that unusual seeing as Antonio was behind it. I had given him information that he’d used against Alexander a couple of weeks back which had caused the werefolks there to start rioting.
They were having a series of random unusual murders and missing people occurring in their district, not to mention the fact that their supply of essentials like water had been cut off. Alexander had done his best to fix it but it always ended up going bad again.
I hated that I had watched all of this happen and I hated even more I was more involved in it but what could I do about it now? It was too
late.
I finished breakfast and left my room to freshen up. I came back down. with the scan Antonio had sent in my bag and found Lisa waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs.
“The driver is ready to go, Luna,” Lisa informed me and I followed her out of the pack mansion.
The two guards that Alexander had assigned to follow me wherever I went immediately got into their car as soon as I got into mine and we drove off. The hair on the back of my neck stood at attention as I felt eyes on me, I scanned my surroundings but couldn’t find anything
amiss.
“Where’s the doctor?” I asked a nurse once we got to the hospital

She glanced up at me reluctantly from her computer and her eyes widened when she finally recognized who was speaking to her.
Quickly she bowed.

“Apologies Luna. The Dr just got out of surgery. If you could wait for five minutes. I’ll inform him you are here.” She quickly said with an apologetic look marring her face.
“Sure, go ahead.” I gestured and went to take a seat opposite her.
A few minutes later the nurse informed me I could go in. “Luna, I didn’t expect you to be back…” The doctor started to say.
“Did someone come to ask for a copy of my scan after I left yesterday?” I cut him off. He stared at me confused, lines marring his forehead.
“I mean, the Alpha came here almost immediately to ask for copies of the scan, yes.”
“And you gave it to him?!” I yelled, fuming in anger as I realized that Antonio had actually been the one here and he had impersonated Alexander to get his hands on the scan.
It had definitely been him that had come here and the knowledge that he had followed me to the hospital made my blood boil. How dare he?! It wasn’t enough that he was using me again my mate and now he was impersonating him?
My jaw clenched at the thought. He was probably going around the pack causing havoc, pretending to be Alexander in a pack he wasn’t even a member of. I focused on the doctor’s face and he was still looking at me confused.
“I’m sorry, I just…thanks…” I said, knowing that Alexander and Antonio looked identical and that it was weird for me to be mad at the doctor for giving my mate the scans of our baby

“It’s okay. I understand.” The doctor said with a sympathetic smile. “Sometimes couples fight and it’s usually worse when one of them is pregnant,”
“What? No that’s not…” I started to say but figured it was better he thought that than the fact that Antonio had impersonated the Alpha to collect the scans. “You are right. Thank you.” I said simply and left the hospital.
Lisa walked behind me as we walked to the car. “Uhm, Luna, I know it’s not my place, but are you alright? Like really and don’t tell me it’s your hormones because it’s clearly more than that.”
I turned to her and gave a sad smile. “You are right, it’s not your place.”
It pained me that I had to speak to Lisa like that when she was only trying to help but I had no choice. She couldn’t know and I couldn’t tell her or she’d be in danger. The feeling of being followed again came back. I scanned my surrounding environment but couldn’t find anyone.
“Let’s go, Lisa,” I commanded and opened my car door before the driver could. The ride home was quiet and Lisa again asked what was wrong even after I had silenced her the first time.
“I’m fine Lisa,” I answered in a stony voice.
We got to the mansion a few minutes later and my car door opened immediately the driver parked in the driveway. I glanced up to find Alexander standing outside the car. He pulled me out of the car and hugged me tightly.
His familiar scent invaded my nostrils and all the pent–up anger I had been feeling on my way home dissipated “Whoa, hello there “He chuckled as I held onto him a little longer, savoring his presence
He was the only thing keeping me sane which pained me because while he was caring for me, I was stabbing him in the back

“Where have you been?” I glared up at him playfully. He chuckled and planted a kiss on my lips.
“I’m sorry, my love but I have been settling an issue with a neighboring pack.” He said as he cradled my face.
I nodded, confused. I had initially thought he’d gone to the southern border because of the riots going on there but now that he mentioned another pack. I paused. Antonio had spoken about the Silver pack, could it be the same pack Alexander was referring to?
“So which neighboring pack is piquing my mate’s interest so much that he has practically abandoned me?”
“Come on now, Isabella, abandon is a strong word.”
“Not according to our baby.”
Alexander rolled his eyes. “Now you are making that up. Isn’t she, baby?” He asked, smiling at my stomach and rubbing it with affection.
“Yes,” I answered in a baby voice.
“Daddy is sorry. I promise to make it up to you and Mama okay?”
“Okay,” I answered with a smile. “But seriously, what stupid pack is taking you away from me?” I pouted, staring up at him with my hands fiddling his collar. “It’s been practically ages since I last saw you.”
Alexander sighed and for the first time, I saw the exhaustion in his eyes. The exhaustion I had played a part in putting there. “The Silver pack. What are you gonna do about it?” He wiggled his brows, every trace of exhaustion disappearing from his face and replaced with mischief
I stiffened as he mentioned the name of the pack Antonio wanted me to spy on but quickly recovered and plastered a smile on my face. “Why

I’ll wage war against them, break their strongholds, and keep you to myself.”
He chuckled good–naturedly and kissed me long and hard. “I might just like that.” He grinned “My mate waging war against a formidable pack to get my attention? That’s hot.”
“You are hot,” I replied and pulled him into a soft, sensual kiss.
He groaned and pulled away, gazing at me with stormy eyes. I could tell he didn’t want to stop but had to. “Not right now, I’ve got work, besides Chloe is waiting for you in the garden.”
I nodded, surprised at Chloe’s visit but not letting it show. “Okay.”
“Don’t pout. I’ll see you later, I promise and then make it up to you.”
“Alright but if I don’t see you later. I’m storming into the silver pack.” He laughed again and I watched him go.
I sincerely apologize for the duplicate chapters. The chapters were scheduled and I had no idea it was the same chapter. I’m aware that it’s inexcusable and I’m indeed sorry. It won’t happen again. Please read the previous chapter again.
