Isabella’s POV
I waited for the door to close behind Alexander and for an extra two minutes to make sure he’d gone far enough before I got down to business which was to searcj for the key to the drawer. I was positive it was here because I had seen Blake holding the documents and taking it directly to Alexander’s office earlier today.
Satisfied that Alexander was already far away, I began my search.
First, I tried to pull open the previously locked drawer in his desk just to check and just like I knew it would be, it was locked. I sighed in exasperation. What the hell was so important about the document that he couldn’t just leave this particular drawer open?
Alexander was usually meticulous when it came to things concerning the pack but with this document he was extra careful for some reason. I was running out of time with Antonio. He’d be given a deadline of four- days and this was already day two of it.
I searched frantically for the keys for the next ten minutes by rummaging through Alexander’s cluttered desk and some other office cabinets around but came up with nothing.
I kept checking the door every other second as I searched, afraid that someone might walk in on me at any moment.
“For the love of the moon goddess. Where the hell is it?” I groaned out in frustration.
I stood staright with my hands on my waist and glanced around. The key had to be here somewhere.

Something told me to check the other open drawers which I hadn’t bothered to check before and just as I did, I immediately found a bunch of keys.
I face palmed myself for not checking one of the drawers in the first place.
I took out the bunch of keys and began to frantically look for the small golden key with a wolf head, looking over at the door every other minute. I found nothing that resembled a wolf head golden key and I almost screamed out in frustration. I felt the urge to cry, I was already so tired from lying and sneaking around and now I couldn’t find a stupid key.
I heard footsteps coming and quickly dropped the key back in it’s position.
The door creaked open and in walked Alexander.
“Hey, where is my food?“I rushed to say.
He eyed me suspiciously for a moment before sspeaking “The maids shooed my out of the kitchen.”
I rolled my eyes at him.
“But you are their boss”
“yes but after almost burning the kitchen down last time, which was Caleb’s fault by the way because he left the gas on, I’ve been subtly banned from the kitchen.”
“First of all, I have a feeling that both of you are equal parts to blame and when was that?” I tried to recall.
“Eh a few months back but never mind that, I did most of initial work,

all the maids have to do is put it on the stove and cook.
“Alright.” I pouted.
Alexander chuckled as he moved closer to me and kissed my forehead. “you can be such a drama queen sometimes. You know that?” he asked craddling my face and looking into my eyes.
I stuck out my tongue and he chuckled again.
He kissed my forehead again affectionately.
“I’m glad you are okay now.“. he suddenly said out of the blue staring into my eyes, pulling me into his world with his beautiful green orbs.
I was really trying to hate Alexander, doing my absolute best to but it was so hard to hate someone that made you feel like you are on top of the world. I knew Antonio was most likely telling the truth about him but I couldn’t bring myself to believe him or maybe I didn’t want to, Maybe if I did believe him, I’d be inevitably shattering something that was precious to me, I’d be breaking my own heart, I’d be destroying my family.
I couldn’t take the intensity of his gaze anymore, so I casted my eyes down but Alexander being Alexander immediately pulled my chin up so I could look at me again.
“You know, if you have anything to say to me, anything at all. You can tell me right? I wouldn’t judge you.” His deep baritone but sultry voice said to me.
Shit! I cursed internally.
I wanted to tell him, how could I not with that much intensity and sincerity in his eyes? This was my chance to come clean and ask him myself what had happened to my parents. It was my chance tofix

things, so, I took it.
“Xander…” my voice came out strained and broken.
“”I’m sorry…” I began, staring into his eyes.

“I didn’t mean to make it wait this long. It’s just you…” I paused not sure how to phrase the fact that his brother was back and was blackmailing me.
Don’t be stupid enough to tell anyone about this or I’ll kill everyone you love. Antonio’s voice echoed in my head and that alone was enough to abruptly stop me from pouring my heart out like I wanted to.
“it’s okay, take your time,” Alexander said staring into my eyes.
“It’s just that… I’m tired all the time and I’m sorry for walking out on you last night.”
Alexander stared at me for so long, I started to think he didn’t buy what I had said but just when I was staring to get nervous, he pulled me close and wrapped his rms around me.
“You don’t have to apologize, I know it’s the baby giving me all the attitude.” He whispered. I couldn’t see him but I could tell he was smiling.
I laughed nervously, glad that I hadn’t just blown my cover and just happy that I was in my husband’s arm even though all evidence pointed for me to hate him.
A maid knocked on the door ten minute later and walked in with a tray of pasta and watermelon juice. A juice I’d always hated but now
suddenly found delicious.

“We are not naming our baby that.” I glared at Alexander thirty minutes later after we were done with our dinner.
“Why not? It’s a cool name!”
“It’s the name of tyrannical king!”
“Now, babe, tyrannical is a strong word… I’d say a King that didn’t take bullshit.”
I gave him a Blank stare.
“we are not naming him or her that!”
We’d both been trying to com up with name for the baby for over an hour now and Alexander had come up with a total of twenty names that were all somehow tied to old kings and queens that were questionable characters. We’d moved to the couch sometime after we were done eating and I laid resting on Alexander’s chest as he is stroked my hair.
“Fine, I haven’t seen you come up with any name since.” He pouted.
“That’s because I want the name to be special!”
I was enjoying our back and forth banter, I missed this. This used to be us before everything got so complicated. My heart constricted in my chest as I realized my sweet husband could be responsible for the worst loss of my life.
I still held a little hope that Antonio was lying to me but deep down I knew he probably wasn’t. He was a lot of things but flat out liar, I was beginning to realize he wasn’t.
“Would you leave, if I ever asked you to?” I asked out of the blue before I could stop myself.

“Leave?” Alexander asked looking down at me.
“Yes, if I said I didn’t want this anymore…”
“Want what Isabella? You are scaring me.”

I was rightz there is someone else,…” he whispered painfully with his eyes carrying so much hurt that I wanted to smack myself for bringing up that question.
“Who is he Isabella, I’ll kill him.” He growled, his eyes glowing with a fierce anger and his body taut with unreleased anger.
“Stop it Alexander, you know as well as I do that there is nobody else and there will never be.” I glared at him as I sat up to face him.
He must have heard something in my voice or seen something in my eyes because he relaxed a little.
“I’ll chase you till the end of the earth until I can get you back, until you forgive me for whatever reason you decided to leave. I couldn’t possibly live without you and I’m sorry but I couldn’t let you live without me either. I’d be in your doorstep singing every night…“.I giggled as he continued to speak.
“I’ll kill every man woman that stands in my way and I’ll go anywhere to retrieve the lost love.”
I stared at him for several moments and realized he meant every single word he had said.
“I love you Xander, so much that it consumes me. I want us to grow old together…”

Xander pulled me into his lap and kissed me slowly with just his lips at first and then his tongue and then his entire body.
“I love you too, so much and I can’t wait to love our little one everyday for the rest of our lives.” He said as he pulled away to look at me.
The rest of our lives didn’t seek very far anymore.
He captured my lips back again and kissed me passionately this time. We made love in his office that night and for some reason I felt like that was goodbye.
