Chapter 16 A Fair Circle Around the Neck
The gauze around Eloise’s neck was finally removed, revealing a fair circle.
While at work, Eloise received a strange call.
“Are you Eloise?” Someone said on the other end of the line.
“Yes, who are you…” Eloise felt the voice was strange.
“I am Gideon Kelley, Eleanor’s younger brother. You often went to my home to do homework when you were a child,” Gideon said expectantly.
“Are you Gideon? Have you been released?” Eloise was happy.
“Yes, I’ve been released. The police told me your phone number. Thank you for helping me out. I will treat you to dinner tonight,” Gideon said happily.
Eloise frowned. “Did I help you out?”
“Yes. The police told me that. It must be true,” Gideon said.
Eloise was stunned. She thought, “It must be Callan. It turns out that he is powerful.”

Eloise suddenly realized something. “Did he take my words seriously?”

“Don’t treat me to dinner. Come to my home, and I’ll cook for you.” Thinking of Gideon’s situation, Eloise couldn’t help feeling sorry for him and didn’t want him to spend money.
Besides, she hadn’t done anything. She could receive a reward for nothing and would explain it to Gideon at night.
“I will take the vegetables to your home to cook for you. How about this?” Gideon said.
“Can you cook?”
“I am good at cooking,” Gideon said proudly.
“Okay.” Eloise smiled.
At about six o’clock, Gideon called, saying that he was
downstairs.
Eloise was busy. At that moment, she remembered that she had an appointment at night.
She walked quickly to the elevator. Callan also got onto the elevator on the next floor.
“Mr. Barone, are you leaving?” Eloise asked.
Callan looked at Eloise’s neck carefully. The gauze had been removed, revealing a fair circle covered by the gauze.
Chapter 16 A Fair Circle Around the Neck “Had the gauze been removed?” Callan said calmly.
“Well, it’s too hot. Besides, it was not severe,” Eloise said.
“Shall I take you home?”
The two spoke at the same time.
Eloise remembered that Gideon had gone to her home.

Even though there was a misunderstanding between Callan and Gideon, Eloise never expected to solve it.
Therefore, Eloise replied, “No need. Thank you.”
“Why? Is there a man at your home?” Callan joked deliberately.
Eloise stared at Callan in surprise. She was so shocked that she couldn’t say anything. However, her expression was saying, “How do you know?”
“Which one? Do I know him?” Callan tried his best to sneer.
It seemed that there were many men at Eloise’s home.
Eloise thought for a while and decided not to let Callan know Gideon was at her home. It was better to save trouble, so she
said, “You don’t know.”
“I know you won’t be alone.” With that, Callan cast a mocking glance at Eloise and left.
Chapter 16 A Fair Circle Around the Neck Hearing that, Eloise felt wronged.
Gideon was waiting for Eloise at home.
Gideon cherished Eloise’s kindness. He recognized Eloise at a glance in Girado Group.

All of Gideon’s family members had passed away. When he saw Eloise, he felt she was kind, and tears welled up in his eyes. Eloise had been the kindest one to him for years.
When Eloise went to Gideon’s home, he was a child in junior high school. He was tall and thin at that moment, so it was hard to recognize him. Eloise was only three years older than him.
Eloise didn’t know much about Gideon, so she was somewhat
alert.
“What’s wrong with your neck?” Gideon asked Eloise. When he remembered cutting Eloise’s neck with a blade and saw a scar, he said remorsefully, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. I just hated…”
When Gideon said that, tears welled up in his eyes.
Gideon used to have a happy family, but he was the only one left. Thinking of that, Eloise felt sad.
“Gideon, stop making trouble with Callan. It’s useless. What if something happens to you?”
Gideon kept chopping without saying a word.

“Fortunately, you didn’t splash the sulfuric acid on his face. If you did, you’d have to go to jail for at least ten years. Do you know? It’s no good for both of you. Why do you do that?” Eloise said carnestly, “Also, it wasn’t me who helped you out. It was him. I’m not that capable. That’s he. He won’t say anything after doing something good.”
“Did he help me out?” Gideon frowned in surprise.
“Yes.”
“Eloise, are you and Callan on good terms? Why do you always speak for him?” Gideon stopped chopping and turned to ask Eloise.
This question made Eloise somewhat guilty. “I have been working with Girado Group and have been working in his company. He is the boss, so I know him more.”
“Even if he helped me out, what about the fact that he killed someone and framed my brother? What about my parents and my sister being crushed to death?” Gideon suddenly became angry, and his eyes were red.
“Who did he kill?” Eloise asked.
“Alison, his ex–girlfriend. I don’t know the specifics, but my brother was imprisoned because of that. There was no way to appeal, so he committed suicide,” Gideon said with tears in his
eyes.

Eloise was stunned. Unexpectedly, Callan had an ex–girlfriend.
It was the first time Eloise had heard of Alison. She didn’t know what she was thinking but felt somewhat jealous.
Callan said, “That’s another story.” It was probably the story of him and his ex–girlfriend.
Eloise couldn’t tell what kind of feeling she had. She was just jealous.
“Maybe there was something unspeakable. As a young man, you should calm down,” Eloise said to Gideon.
“Eloise, I will take all your advice, but I can’t calm down,” Gideon said while cooking. 4
Gideon didn’t want to talk about Callan.
“Eloise, can you help me heat the pot and put some oil in it?”
Gideon said to Eloise.
Eloise agreed and put in the oil according to Gideon’s
instructions, but a lot of oil splashed up and landed on Eloise’s
neck. It hurt.
Eloise gasped.
“What’s the matter, Eloise?” Gideon quickly turned off the stove
and found Eloise’s neck red.
“It’s so hot.”

“Do you have emergency burn gel at home?” Gideon asked.
Eloise shook her head.
“I’ll go to buy it.”

“Forget it. No need.” Eloise pulled Gideon back. “Cold water is
OK.”
Gideon drove Eloise out of the kitchen and told her to go back to the living room to wait for dinner.
“If someone marries you, she will be lucky,” Eloise said sincerely.
Gideon forced a smile. “How could someone like me has a bright future?”
“Don’t give up on yourself. You can’t have a bright future by thinking about it. You have to struggle for it. It depends on whether you are eager for it or not.” After talking with Gideon, Eloise felt that he hadn’t lost his conscience and was still the pure boy. He was just blinded by hatred.
Afterward, Eloise nestled on the sofa and looked for an apartment
