Chapter 31 Anger
The temperature in the room seemed to have suddenly dropped. Isabelle trembled.
Brandon stood up abruptly. Isabelle looked back and saw Warren’s tall figure in a perfectly customized black suit. Above his stern jaw was a mask. The frightening man cast a chilling gaze at her.
She thought, “What’s L…doing here?”
Embarrassed, Isabelle got up with reddening eyes.
Before she knew it, Warren had come to the sofa and grabbed her with
his cold big hand. The grim look in his eyes made her shiver.
Biting her lip, she stood behind Warren.
Warren turned around and saw Brandon’s hands on her waist.
Brandon was astonished. The man before him was only a hooligan, but his terrifying aura made him subconsciously let go.
Regaining his senses, Brandon roared, “You hooligan again!”
Before he could make a move, Warren knocked him down with a punch.

Warren picked Isabelle up and carried her calmly toward the door.

She lowered her head as if she had made a terrible mistake.
“Who on earth are you?” Brandon shouted again.
Alex looked at Warren, kicked the door, and snorted, “He’s a man who doesn’t give a damn about you. Mr. Hodge, if you touch this woman again, the entire Hodge family will be doomed!”
Brandon stiffened. Alex’s arrogant tone made him more curious about the masked man.
The night was cold.
Warren carried Isabelle into the car and made her sit on his lap. It was cold in the car. In his arms, Isabelle felt it was freezing.

She was shivering nonstop.
Warren suddenly kicked the front seat and asked Sheldon to turn on the air–conditioner.
He held her tighter. His gaze landed on her torn clothes. With dimming eyes, he reached out.
“What are you doing?” What had just happened was still vivid in Isabelle’s head. When Warren’s rough fingers touched her soft skin, she pushed his hand away instinctively.
A sneer came from above her head. “You’re pregnant. What do you think I can do? Finish what you were doing with your ex–fiance?”
Isabelle’s face was flushed from embarrassment. “Do you have to be so mean?”
“You crossed the line. You lied to my mom. You told her you were going out with your friend.” Gloom was gathering on his face.

With a pale face, Isabelle said, “I can explain. I don’t want her to worry about me. I was looking for an address book. Indeed, if you hadn’t got there in time, the consequence would’ve been too much for me to bear. But I really didn’t expect Brandon to act like that…” She was pregnant. With an even colder aura, Warren asked, “Ms. Spencer, did you forget what I said?”
Isabelle hit her head slightly and blinked her eyes. But she didn’t want to disturb his personal life. After thinking about it for a few seconds, she said. “Mr. L, I appreciate it. But let’s make it clear. What we have is a contract marriage. We should keep a distance from each other. I don’t want to trouble you. Also, I won’t meddle with your business.”
For the next few seconds, the car was in utter silence!
It was cold as if the temperature had dropped greatly.
Sheldon shivered. He turned back and whispered, “Ms. Spencer, Mr. L worked overtime tonight, but he came here as soon as he got off work… He wanted you to pick him up at the airport, but you didn’t reply to his message or answer your phone.”
Isabelle was surprised.
“Sheldon!” Warren said coldly.
Sheldon fell silent.
Isabelle looked up. Warren continued in an extremely cold voice, “Keep a distance? Then, go away!”
She froze. She got off his lap immediately and curled up against the door to stay away from him.

The cold wind stopped. Isabelle didn’t shiver anymore. Warren asked Sheldon to turn the heating on. She kept her eyes lowered.
Although mad and bossy, he was perceptive and thoughtful. Such a man was extremely attractive to women.
And yet Isabelle thought that he was only trying to keep the baby from the cold.

The car stopped at a hospital. A doctor came immediately to examine Isabelle. The baby was fine.
Alex was relieved. He said, “Warren married this woman to have a baby. If anything happened to the baby, he’d kill her…”
Marin glanced at Isabelle and said, “Are you sure it’s all about the baby? I see something else.”

“Chemistry,” Marin said mischievously.
“Nonsense. Warren is always aloof around women! That girl has been around him for many years. Has he ever been attracted to her?”

After a glance at her, he turned to his mom. “My mom was worried about the baby. You didn’t come home by eight, and the domestic worker blurted out your whereabouts. My mom was so worried she fell ill.”
