Chapter 17 She Saw His Girlfriend
What?
Theodoric did not like Ruthanne at all, so allowing her to work in Romanesque without the required academic qualifications was the biggest compromise he would make.
He did not expect Ruthanne to shamelessly make such a bold request.
Theodoric’s expression was so gloomy that even Ballard feared for Ruthanne’s safety.
Silvius could tell that Theodoric was about to explode with anger, so he quickly stepped forward to defuse the situation. “You just need a place to stay, right? Romanesque can definitely take care of that for you!”
Ballard’s eyelids twitched in anxiety as he watched from the side.
Does Mr. Coldhurst not see that Mr. Lasker is clearly p*ssed? Why would he say such things? We’ll all be doomed if Mr. Lasker gets angry!
He then walked up to Silvius and whispered, “Mr. Coldhurst, have you forgotten that Romanesque does not have staff dormitories?”
To his surprise, Silvius simply waved at him and replied with a smile, “Ruthanne’s request is. considered reasonable, so I’m sure someone of Mr. Lasker’s status wouldn’t say no. Isn’t that right, Mr. Lasker?”
Theodoric turned around and sat down in his chair. “You are the one who insisted on having her stay, so it is your responsibility to take care of her request.”
What the… I’m letting Ruthanne stay for his sake! He could at least show some gratitude!
Ruthanne had a little furrow between her eyebrows as she stared anxiously at Theodoric and
Silvius.
So, is that a yes or a no? Can I please get a confirmation? I’ve been evicted from the rental unit that Grandma and I used to live in, so I need this company to provide me with a place to stay. Either that or pay me my salary in advance so I can rent a place. I know I shouldn’t have made that request since Theodoric hates me to the core, but I didn’t really have a choice. I won’t be able to rest without a place to stay, and I can’t perform well at work without sufficient rest!
After a brief pause, Ruthanne mustered the courage and began, “So…”
“Ahem!” Silvius cleared his throat and shot her a gaze.
Ruthanne immediately held her tongue and said nothing further. “Mr. Goldberg, could you please take her downstairs and help her with the onboarding procedures? I will take care of everything else.”
“Right away, Mr. Coldhurst,” Ballard replied respectfully and walked toward the door. He then motioned at Ruthanne to come with him as he said, “Please come with me, Ms. Forrest.”
While Ruthanne was glad that Silvius had agreed to her request, she couldn’t help but wonder if his words carried any weight.
Oh, screw it! For now, I’ll just go with the flow and see how things turn out!
With that in mind, Ruthanne quickly followed Ballard down the stairs.
Silvius waited until the two had left before saying with a checky grin, “You were the one who told me to solve this for you, so I will only help you out this once. Don’t come looking for me if you’re not happy with the results, okay?”
Theodoric simply shot Silvius a glare and let out a snort before closing his against his chair.
Unbeknownst to Theodoric, a scheming look had formed in Silvius‘ eyes.

Ruthanne has a lot of potential. As Theodoric’s best friend, it is my duty to take good care of his wife!
Ballard called Theodoric on his desk phone shortly after Silvius left.
“What is it?” Theodoric asked in annoyance while placing the call on speaker.
“I have taken care of Ruthanne’s onboarding procedures, Mr. Lasker. Shall we have someone in the design department mentor her, or shall we let her do odd jobs with all the other interns?” Ballard asked.
“That can wait. For now, I want her to write a detailed resume and hand it to me,” Theodoric replied while massaging his forehead.
There must be a mistake with the information I received last night. Ruthanne is illiterate and has no academic qualifications, so how is she able to create perfumes with such ridiculous skill? There must be more to this woman than meets the eye! Since I have decided to keep her around, I must find out everything about her!
“Understood.” Ballard paused for a few seconds before continuing, “I received a call from the front desk earlier. She says Marianne is demanding to see you downstairs.”
Theodoric’s eyes shot wide open when he heard Ballard mention Marianne.
F*ck! I can’t believe I let Ruthanne disrupt my plans so much that I forgot about Marianne! I haven’t contacted her since we parted ways at City Hall yesterday, so she must be feeling incredibly anxious right
now!
“Bring her upstairs.”
Ballard then led Marianne straight to Theodoric’s office on the top floor.
He couldn’t help but frown in disdain when he saw Marianne glancing about as though it was her first time seeing an office building.
Why would Mr. Lasker spend over ten years searching for this woman? I don’t know. I just feel as though she isn’t worth the effort.
Ballard pushed the glass door open and was about to say something when Marianne shoved him aside impatiently. She then ran up to Theodoric and threw herself in his arms as she said coquettishly. “Where have you been. Theodore? I’ve missed you so much that I even dreamed about you last night!”
Although Theodoric felt uncomfortable with her behavior, he did not push Marianne away.
However, he couldn’t seem to figure out how she smelled exactly like the perfume Ruthanne had made that night.
Theodoric wrapped his arms around Marianne and sniffed at her neck.
Meanwhile, Ruthanne had finished writing her resume and brought it to Theodoric’s office as per Ballard’s instructions.
She had just stepped out of the elevator when she saw Theodoric hugging another woman.
Huh? Is that his girlfriend?
