Chapter 15 She Is His Cure
So, what I smelled that night wasn’t just in my head? How could Ruthanne reproduce that scent, though?
Ruthanne froze when she felt Theodoric’s scorching gaze.
All she remembered were those powerful words he hurled at her. “Also, I must remind you that I’m the founder of Romanesque. I get to determine whether you remain here, and you have no grounds to challenge my decision.”
She tried to reason with Theodoric in hopes of beating him with her knowledge so she could speak to someone of a higher position and secure her spot in the company.
Unfortunately, she was simply far too naïve.
Theodoric was practically the king of the perfume industry. With all that wealth and power that he had, he did indeed have the right to act however he liked.
I can’t believe I boldly tried to overthrow someone as powerful as Theodoric! This world has always belonged to those with wealth and power. I really should stop forgetting that fact!
Ruthanne’s expression was extremely gloomy at the thought of that. The looks on everyone’s faces made her seem like a total joke.
The office was in complete silence, and Silvius had disbelief written all over his face.
What? Did Theodoric regain his sense of smell? What’s with this sudden turn of events? He couldn’t smell anything when I counseled him just now!
Silvius tried his best to suppress his excitement as he motioned at Ballard to keep Ruthanne under control.
He then dragged Theodoric into the lounge and closed the door behind them.
Feeling excited and unsure of what to do, Silvius held his hand up to Theodoric’s nose.
Theodoric’s face tensed up as he pushed Silvius away. “What are you doing?”
“Smell it!” Silvius replied.
Theodoric simply stared at him in confusion.
“I’m wearing perfume today. Can you tell which brand it is?”
Theodoric frowned for a few seconds before realizing what he was doing. He then leaned forward and sniffed at his wrist.
A second later, Theodoric pushed Silvius‘ hand away with a gloomy look on his face.
“You can’t smell it?”
“Yeah,” Theodoric replied.
“Maybe it’s too faint. Give me a minute.”
Silvius then turned around and searched the bookshelf for some reed diffusers.
He was in such a hurry that he accidentally knocked over some of the items displayed on the bookshelf.

It took Silvius a good few minutes to find the reed diffuser he was looking for. He then held it up to Theodoric’s nose and said, “Here, try this one.”
That reed diffuser had the strongest and sweetest smell among all of Romanesque’s products.
However, Theodoric shook his head after taking a sniff at it.
“Still nothing? Then how were you able to smell the perfume earlier?” Silvius asked with a puzzled look on his face.
Theodoric pursed his lips. “I’m not sure.”
Silvius was utterly confused at that point.
With a little furrow between his eyebrows, Silvius shifted his gaze toward the sample of Aurora that Theodoric was still holding in his hand. He then snatched the bottle over and sprayed some of it in the air, instantly filling the room with a faint fragrance.
“Can you smell this?”
As Theodoric took a whiff of the perfume’s fragrance, he felt a soothing sensation spread through his body.
His lips curled into a smile as he replied, “Yes.”
Silvius was stumped when he heard that.
Why is Theodoric, who can’t smell anything, able to smell this perfume? What the f*ck is going on here?
Both Silvius and Theodoric fell silent and went into deep thought as they tried to process the questions inside their heads.
Ever since Theodoric lost his sense of smell as a result of that car accident, there had only been two occasions when he was able to smell something.
The first occasion was when he slept with Marianne, and the second was when he smelled the sample of Aurora just now.
After a long pause, Silvius walked up to Theodoric and said decisively, “You should let Ruthanne
stay.”
Theodoric’s expression slid into a frown. “Why?”
“You can’t smell anything, but you are able to smell the perfume she created. I think she might just be your cure,” Silvius replied confidently.
The look in Theodoric’s eyes turned gloomy as he thought about Ruthanne’s scheming behavior.
“I won’t keep a scheming woman around.”
“I’ve been keeping a close eye on her earlier, but I still don’t get it. Why are you so hostile toward her?” Silvius asked with a confused expression.
A faint smile formed on Theodoric’s face as he replied, “Remember how I told you this morning that I somehow got a wife all of a sudden?”
Silvius froze for a few seconds before exclaiming in shock, “Ruthanne is your wife?”
