Chapter 401 Moonblade’s Unrequited Love
Jamie smiled and put his hand on Freya’s shoulder, saying, “I’m entrusting Edward to your care, Miss Kaufmann.”
She said nothing, but he didn’t seem to mind. After he left, she took a moment to collect her thoughts. before getting up to inspect the large medical equipment. She had misled him into thinking that this equipment was for Edward’s treatment when, in fact, it was used for drug research.
Then, Freya returned to her office, gathered a stack of information on targeted drugs, and then headed to the medical laboratory. She immersed herself in drug research, occasionally operating the newly arrived medical equipment. Her attention was drawn to the network signal symbol in the upper right corner of the machine. It looked different from a typical mobile phone network signal, which might explain why Jamie hadn’t noticed anything unusual.
Meanwhile, on the villa’s third floor, Jamie sat at his desk, his gaze fixed on Freya on the surveillance screen. A sudden knock broke his concentration, and he replied, “Come in.”
Moonblade entered, a hint of frustration on her face, though it softened when she saw him. “Mr. Strategist, I heard you sent people to Caltun again.”
However, he kept his eyes on the screen and replied, “Yes. What’s wrong?”
She looked anxious and uttered, “At this moment, our organization is under immense pressure. The Monaghans, Porters, and Hoods, along with the Green Flamation forum, are closing in. In Iternia, Falcon’s loyal subordinates are hunting for you. They wanted to seek revenge for Falcon’s death. So, isn’t it too risky to send people to Caltun?”
Jamie turned to Moonblade. “My decisions are not your concern.”
She gritted her teeth, torn between worry and affection for him. “I understand your concern for Edward, but you can’t ignore your own safety,”
He responded firmly, “Leave.”
“Mr. Strategist, we’ve sacrificed our loved ones to be part of this organization. Hence, you should have cut ties with family and friends ages ago. You’re a person of great importance, and these emotions will only put you at risk.”
Jamie had enough and glared at Moonblade. “If that’s the case, why are you bothering me? I have no emotional ties to you.”
She was taken aback and stared at him in disbelief. She took a deep breath and prepared to confess her feelings to him for the first time. “Mr. Strategist, I understand that my feelings aren’t reciprocated, and it’s been a one-sided crush all along. But simply being here with you brings me joy. Even if I’m just a tool in your hands, as long as I’m useful, I’ll be happy”
However, Jamie remained indifferent to her heartfelt confession. “I have plenty of tools. I don’t need one with feelings for me.”
Moonblade urged desperately, “But I won’t expect anything in return!”
“Moonblade, if you truly want to be a tool, understand that a tool itself has no feelings. It’s not me being swayed by emotions right now. It’s you being moved by your feelings, thinking you have the right to interfere in my affairs!”

Then, Jamie called the man at the door. “Monkey.”
The man entered promptly, asking. “Mr. Strategist, your orders?”
“From now on, without my permission, don’t let her come to the third floor.” Jamie ordered.

She was escorted out by Monkey. As she walked down the corridor on the third floor, her gaze drifted down to the first floor, where Freya passed through the lobby with a stack of documents.
Moonblade’s expression darkened upon seeing her. She wondered if Jamie was oblivious to the imminent danger they were facing right now.
Though their organization had spent years building its strength, the might of the Monaghans, the Kaufmanns, and the Green Flamation forum was beyond her wildest imagination. Moreover, they were being hunted globally and narrowly escaped the authorities several times. The thought weighed heavily. on her, and she clenched her hands in despair.
She knew that Strategist was a master tactician responsible for the covert operation organized years ago. Such a man could rival even the ancient strategist Napoleon. Therefore, she couldn’t allow him to be ensnared by worldly emotions and put himself in harm’s way. She was determined to free him from his emotional shackles, even if it meant sacrificing her life.
Meanwhile, Freya carried the documents from the medical laboratory to the office, where Lucius and Russell were enjoying sandwiches. They stood up as Freya entered.
“Miss Kaufmann, I heard they brought in new medical equipment.”
“I’ll handle the drug research. You focus on monitoring Edward’s health,” Freya said, accepting the sandwich Lucius handed her. “The patient may regain consciousness in the coming days. We must ensure he remains unaware of the current situation.”
Russell nodded upon hearing that.
She had told them about her connection with Jamie and Edward a few days ago. Then, she sighed and said, “If Edward discovers the truth, I don’t know what Jamie would do to us.”
After their meal, the trio continued to review the medical records.
Later in the afternoon, a knock at the office door interrupted them. One of Jamie’s subordinates walked in and bowed respectfully. “Miss Kaufmann, Mr. Strategist requests your presence in the patient’s room.”
Freya exchanged glances with Russell and Lucius, suspecting that Edward might have regained. consciousness. She felt nervous as she followed Jamie’s subordinate to the patient’s room.
While standing outside the door, she could faintly hear the conversation inside.
Edward’s voice was weak. “But won’t Frea’s treatment interfere with her schedule? She still has weekend live streams and plenty to do during the week.”

Freya pursed her lips and pushed the door open.

Edward looked up at her from the bed, his face gaunt, but his eyes, like stars, remained unchanged. “Frea…”
It had been a while since she had seen him like this, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Meanwhile, Jamie glanced at her and smiled. ‘Miss Kaufmann, we’re truly thankful for your efforts in treating Edward’s illness and allowing us to stay here.”
Hirespectful and careful demeanor reminded Freya of him during his tenure at the Kaufmann Group. Then, she returned the smile. “It’s okay. This arrangement makes it easier for Edward to recover.”
