Chapter 273 Stealing the Fruits of Labor
Tripp looked at Freya, then glanced at his wife on the ground..
The anger on his face subsided, and he sincerely thanked Freya, Thank you, Miss Kaufmann!”
Freya didn’t pay much attention to it. She stayed in place, watching Lorelei gradually stop within the two- minute timeframe before having someone move Lorelei to her room.
As the evening continued, Freya was about to leave when she saw Matthew hurrying over.
“I heard you descended from the heavens like a fairy just now and saved my mom. Thank you.”
Pfff! Freya chuckled. “I simply climbed down from the stage just now. How did it turn into me being a fairy?”
“I added a little embellishment; after all, in my eyes, you’re not much different from a fairy.”
Freya clicked her tongue. “Alright, you go back to entertaining the guests while I take a break.”
Returning to the small stone table, she took a sip of tea and continued playing with her phone to
pass the
time.
As the evening came to an end and people started to leave, Freya stood up, intending to leave.
She had just walked from the small path to the venue when a maid looked around before approaching her deferentially. “Miss Kaufmann, our lady requests your presence.”
“Is Mrs. Hood okay?”
“She has regained consciousness. She is very grateful and would like to speak to you after hearing that you administered first aid to her during her seizure.”
Freya sighed under her breath. It would be rude of her not to see Lorelei when the latter had put it this
way.
Following the maid, Freya entered the Hood Residence and saw Lorelei in the spacious second-floor bedroom on the second floor.
Lorelei was sitting on the bed, her complexion already back to normal.
“Miss Kaufmann, thank you for today.”
Freya smiled faintly, “Don’t worry about it. It’s the duty of a doctor to save lives.”
“A doctor?” Lorelei looked puzzled.
Freya chuckled softly. She had saved numerous patients using her alter ego, Harlan, and whenever someone thanked her, she would say something like this. However, she had forgotten that she had come to the Hood Residence as Freya this day.
“I studied medicine in college,” Freya said with a smile. Although it was forensic medicine, Mrs. Hood wouldn’t know.
“I didn’t expect to have a seizure in public today, but what surprised me even more was that you were the one who saved me.” Lorelei looked at Freya, her eyes filled with complexity.

“The last time you and Railley came over, we didn’t part on good terms…”
“Yeah.” Freya responded. But what did it have to do with her treating patients and saving lives?
“But… Freya, I now realize you are a very kind and good-hearted person. I also know that the Kaufmann Group has helped our family a lot over the years. However…” Lorelei hesitated. She looked somewhat embarrassed, considering Freya had just saved her life.
Freya chuckled lightly. “What exactly do you want to say, Mrs. Hood?”
“I heard that you and Radley broke up.” Lorelei looked at Freya.
“Yes, we broke up a while ago.” Freya looked at Lorelei’s worried expression and suddenly understood. “Mrs. Hood, rest assured, even if I’m not with Radley anymore, I won’t be with your son.”
At that, she smiled. “I don’t have any romantic feelings for Matthew. I just see him as a friend.”
Lorelei seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, but when she saw Freya’s clear eyes with a hint of a smile, her gaze seemed to carry the power to penetrate everything. Embarrassedly, she turned her head away.
“However, if you really want to thank me, I do have a favor to ask,” Freya added.
“Okay, Miss Kaufmann, please go ahead. I’ll help you as long as it’s within my ability,” Lorelei said with determination, as long as Freya wasn’t trying to marry into the Hood family.
“It’s a simple matter.” Freya stood in place and began to explain it to Lorelei bit by bit.
Lorelei’s expression changed from shock to doubt, and finally, she smiled openly.
“No problem. How can I repay you for saving my life with such a small favor? It’s just a small effort.”
Freya smiled. “Okay, in that case, if I encounter other situations where I need help. I’ll trouble you again in the future.”
To avoid worrying Lorelei, Freya left the Hood Residence in her car without seeing Matthew.
In the following two days, Freya didn’t have much to do. She spent her time at home, contemplating whether to start the live stream or write the second part of Moonlit Journey as Jean Birch.
At one in the afternoon, just after Freya had finished lunch and was about to retreat to her room to rest, she received a call from Michael, the older brother of the Octo Adelphos.
“GS, someone in the lab tried to escape with something! We caught him!”
“Who is it?” Freya’s gaze turned piercing.
“It’s that scrawny old man. He took a stack of papers with him, but we don’t know what they are.”
Freya stood up abruptly, no longer feeling tired. What she was most concerned about now was her brother’s illness. She couldn’t believe Fabian actually attempted to escape with the data after they finally made progress in the research.
She drove straight to the research laboratory.
On the way, she received some information: the recently developed medicine was in the testing phase,
and the white mice that had been injected for the past six days had all come through safely.

This meant that the drug was essentially a success.
Freya didn’t expect Fabian to be so crazy as to try to take off with the data and the medicine.
Already at 59 years old, but what is he trying to achieve?!
Upon pulling up at the research laboratory. Freya could already hear the commotion inside.
“I’m sorry, I won’t dare anymore!”
Michael’s somber voice sounded. “GS trusted you so much, and you actually tried to steal from her?”
“It’s not like that, I… I thought it was just a pile of scrap paper. I was planning to throw it away…
Inside the room, Lucius’ voice came through. “You’re lying. That pile of scrap paper was originally in my desk drawer. You’re telling me they were scraps when you took them out from my drawer?!”
Freya sighed softly and entered the room.
Michael and Eugene were composed, managing to control the situation without resorting to physical force against Fabian.
The other three researchers, however, looked indignant.
They were all colleagues, and they had devoted so much time and effort to this research. They were well aware of the value of the research results.
“To steal something we’ve all researched together, how shameless can you be?”
Fabian stood rooted on his spot and gritted his teeth with hatred when he saw Freya approaching.
“Why do you guys get to be in charge of the trial period? Don’t think I don’t know when it’s time to put names on it, you will definitely erase mine! Isn’t that right?”
Upon hearing this, Freya let out a long sigh. “You’ve overthought. If I didn’t recognize your ability back then, how could I have recruited someone nearly sixty into the team?”
Lucius was still full of righteous indignation. “Miss Kaufmann, how should we deal with him?”
Freya sighed again. “Let him go.”
“Let him go?”
“Yes.” Freya nodded.
“But even if we don’t let him take any data with him, those things are already in his head. He could still release them outside and achieve his goal just the same!
Freya took out her phone. “Don’t worry, I have backups on my phone, with timestamps and everything. Besides, with Michael and Eugene here, if he dares to do that, I will make sure he pays the price.”
There was a threat in Freya’s words.
She smiled at Fabian. “Mr. Wesson, considering the equipment in this room, you should understand that I can follow through on my words.”

Fabian fell silent, then got up from the ground and quickly left the room under the scornful gazes of the others.
