Chapter 9: Hitting
Julia slightly inclined her head towards Jared, her eyes betraying no hint of emotion. “Thank you, but no need to trouble yourself,” she politely declined.
With those words, Julia stepped out, swiftly shutting the door behind her.
Jared remained in his spot, his deep eyes locked onto the closed door.
A few moments later, he retrieved his phone and dialed a number. “Please look into what’s happening with the Watson family,” he instructed the on the other end.
“Understood, boss,” said the person on the other end of the line.

Shiloh approached during this exchange and overheard Jared’s conversation. He regarded his elder brother curiously.
“Why are you investigating this, brother?”
“Don’t you think she was very strange just now?” Jared asked back.
Jared’s query prompted Shiloh to recall Julia’s odd behavior moments ago. It was indeed peculiar and somewhat unsettling. He had also sensed a formidable aura from her, similar to his brother’s when he was enraged.
However, Shiloh realized it was not his brother’s business to investigate Julia.
As Shiloh contemplated his brother’s actions, Jared’s phone buzzed, and he answered the call immediately.
“Have you found it?” Jared inquired with urgency.
“I apologize, Boss, but it’s not about the Watson family. We apprehended the driver responsible for hitting Mr. Shiloh earlier,” his assistant informed him.
Jared’s expression darkened on the news. “Bring him here,” he ordered tersely.
“Of course, Boss.”
Meanwhile, Julia hurried to the hospital, entering Conrad’s ward to find him lying in a weak state on the bed.
On the phone earlier, Philip told her that her brother’s ribs had been broken, but now seeing the latter’s situation, it was much more severe than she imagined.
“Julia, why are you here?” Conrad’s face revealed a mix of panic and concern upon seeing his sister’s sudden arrival. He didn’t want her to witness him in such a fragile state, fearing she would blame herself or be troubled.
Julia read all the complex emotions on Conrad’s face.
He was all thinking about her even though he had been like this.
Overwhelmed by emotion, she blushed and hastened to his side, murmuring, “Brother, I’m so sorry. I’ve caused you harm.”
Having grown up an orphan in her previous life, she hadn’t experienced familial love.
Life had been an arduous journey, but it seemed that fate had granted her this exceptional brother to compensate for her past hardships.
“Julia, don’t cry. I’m fine. It would just take a few days, and I’m alright again,” Conrad consoled her gently, his voice adopting a soothing tone as if speaking to a child. He patted her back tenderly, offering solace and reassurance.
However, Conrad’s gentle demeanor only intensified the turmoil within Julia’s heart. His attempts to reassure her seemed to magnify her sense of guilt and concern. Thus, Julia could help but think, ‘How could he be so caring and selfless despite the extent of his injuries?‘

His ribs were all broken, but he kept saying it was okay. With such a severe injury, was a few days off really enough to recover? Even if she healed him personally, he couldn’t fully recover so soon. Technically speaking, it would take a hundred days for a person with broken bones and torn muscles to recover, so a few days were obviously not
enough!
Julia slowly looked up at Conrad, and when she saw the large burns on Conrad’s face, her brows furrowed with concern.
The wound on Conrad’s face was still the scar left by her childhood kidnapping and being trapped in a big fire. Conrad recklessly rushed into the sea of fire to rescue her, resulting in burns.
After more than a decade, the burns on Conrad’s face were still terrifying. Conrad was once a school hunk from elementary school to university back then. And in just the blink of an eye, he resembled a wild beast in a forest just because of her.
Thinking of all her brother’s sacrifices for her, she had decided! She would heal his face to alleviate at least some of the burdens he had shouldered because of her. With her decision made, Julia gently took hold of Conrad’s hand, her fingers finding his pulse.
Confused, Conrad questioned, “What are you doing, Julia?”
“I’m feeling your pulse,” Julia replied, feigning confidence.
“Feeling my pulse? For what? You’re not a doctor,” Conrad said, regarding her with bemusement.
Julia quickly concocted an explanation, “Well, I secretly learned some basic medical skills and never told anyone.”
While Julia wasn’t keen on deception, her situation forced her to be cautious of her revelations. After all, who would believe her if she revealed the truth of her rebirth?
So, now that she had occupied her current body and had utterly integrated with it, she was not only the holy doctor Julia but also part of the Watson family.
Julia released Conrad’s hand and glanced at the examination report hanging by the bedside. The information detailed two fractured bones along with multiple soft tissue injuries. The severity of his condition was evident, and the thought of the pain he

endured stirred her anger.

The weight of her emotions tightened her grip on the examination report, her fingers clenching in frustration.
‘Carter, Vivien! Just wait!‘ Julia seethed with suppressed anger, vowing to hold onto her
resentment.
