Chapter 73 Calling the Police and Arresting Julia
Amid Vivien’s rapid heartbeat, her thoughts raced.
‘No! It can’t happen! Absolutely not!‘
Unable to devise an alternative plan, Vivien deliberately allowed her phone to slip from her grasp, resulting in a crashing sound that resounded throughout the room. In response, Carter’s actions of taking out the documents immediately froze, his gaze shifting toward the source of the noise. Only then did he acknowledge Vivien’s presence. But what caught his attention the most was her pale. face, which caused his brows to furrow in concern.
“Vivien, you…” Carter’s attempt at addressing her was interrupted as he witnessed Vivien dissolve into tears, her eyes imploring and desolate. On her face, there was also an expression of disbelief. “Carter, Carter…” Her voice quivered as tears cascaded like a torrent. “You really went ahead with the verification? Don’t you… trust me? I know that in your heart, I’ll never mean as much as Julia. No matter what I do for you, I’ll always fall short compared to Julia.”
“Vivien, you’ve misunderstood. That’s not what I meant,” Carter responded, rising from his seat and moving toward Vivien.
“Stay away,” Vivien whispered, her lips trembling as tears continued to flow uncontrollably, akin to a breached dam.
“Carter, you don’t need to see the verification result. I’m exhausted. I’m tired of loving you. I surrender. You and Julia are destined for each other. I’m unworthy. I don’t deserve your love.”
After Vivien finished speaking through her sobs, she rushed out of the villa and headed toward the swimming pool.
“Carter, goodbye forever. I don’t regret loving you. I just hope that in my next life, I can meet you first.” Vivien bid her farewell.
Carter was on the brink of stepping outside when this heartbreaking scene unfolded before him. “Vivien! Don’t jump!” He yelled with urgency, his voice echoing through the air.
Facing Carter, Vivien offered him a smile that held a sense of finality. With unwavering resolve, she leaped into the deep end of the swimming pool.
“Vivien!” Carter’s cry was filled with panic, prompting him to rush to the pool’s edge and leap in
after her.
Swiftly, Vivien was rescued from the water’s depths.
“Carter, why did you save me?” Vivien’s voice trembled as she looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears.
“Vivien, why would you act so recklessly? I’ve told you countless times I love only you!” Carter held Vivien gently, his heart aching at her distress.
“You’re lying. If you truly loved me, why didn’t you believe me? I didn’t do it. I didn’t push Mom into the water,” Vivien’s sorrowful cries filled the air.
“I was wrong. I’m sorry. I should never have doubted you!” Carter’s voice was sincere as he admitted his error.
Carter then turned to Benedict and ordered, “Burn those verification results!”
“Yes, Sir,” Benedict acknowledged before leaving with the document in hand.
Witnessing this, Vivien felt a measure of relief wash over her.

Meanwhile, upon learning of Vivien’s suicide attempt, Lilian hurried to the scene.
“Carter! You’re completely clueless! I warned you from the start that this was all part of Julia’s scheme. She deliberately orchestrated this fabricated video, yet you chose not to believe me. Now look at the dire consequences–Vivien nearly lost her life,” Lilian admonished, her frustration palpable.
As Lilian spoke, Carter’s realization of the depth of Julia’s manipulation grew. He recognized the extent of her ruthlessness and cunning.
“Mom, I acknowledge my mistake and genuinely apologize to Vivien,” Carter replied earnestly.
“Just an apology is enough? What about the wedding you owe to Vivien?” Lilian’s irritation was evident as she fixed Carter with a piercing glare.
Carter deliberated for a moment before responding, “I intend to give Vivien a lavish wedding as a way to make amends, to truly make things right for her.”
“That sounds acceptable. I’ve already chosen a date for you: the 8th of next month,” Lilian announced decisively.
“The 8th of next month…” Carter murmured, his brow furrowing in thought.
“What’s the matter? Do you have prior commitments on that date?” Lilian inquired.
Unbeknownst to Lilian, the 8th of the upcoming month held a significant meaning to Carter – it was Julia’s birthday. Traditionally, he had always spent that day with her.
Carter hesitated briefly before dismissing his concerns. “No, it’s nothing important. The 8th
works.”
“Very well, then it’s settled,” Lilian confirmed.
Once Lilian departed from the villa, she did not immediately return home. Instead, she made her way to the entrance of Villa 8. Without delay, she reached the doorstep and pounded on the door with force.
“Open up! Hurry, open the door! Julia, you deceitful girl, come out!”
Inside Villa 8, Julia and Conrad were in the midst of their meal when the clamor from outside. disrupted their dinner.
“I’ll
go check,” Conrad declared, rising from his seat.
However, Julia caught hold of Conrad’s sleeve, slipping a piece of braised pork into his bowl. Her gesture was an attempt to deter him from heading to the door.
Conrad glanced down at the offering from his sister, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips.
“Stay here and enjoy your meal. I’m perfectly capable of handling this,” Julia asserted as she rose from her seat.
Conrad offered an indulgent smile and settled back into his chair. “Alright then, go ahead. Just make it quick.”
“Okay,” Julia affirmed before making her way to the door.
Upon opening the door and stepping outside, Julia was met with the sight of Lilian standing at the intricately designed iron gate. Lilian’s glare held a seething anger that seemed capable of tearing through the gate and reaching Julia.
“Oh, so there’s actually a person here! I thought a rabid dog had come to bark at the door,” Julia quipped, her comment serving to further enrage Lilian.
Calling the Pufey and Arresting Julia
“Who are you calling a rabid dog? Huh? You wretched girl! Who are you calling a rabid dog?” Lilian’s voice reverberated with fury.
“Looks like it’s you doing the barking now, right?” Julia retorted calmly, her expression carrying a
hint of a smirk.
“You, you, you’re driving me insane! What has our Ross family done to deserve this? We’ve suffered misfortune for eight generations, and now we’ve managed to provoke you, this mistress of bad luck! I nearly lost my life thanks to you. Not to mention, you pushed Vivien to the brink, making her jump into the swimming pool to prove her innocence! My, my! A wicked creature like you, why hasn’t a lightning bolt struck you down yet?” Lilian’s insults grew increasingly vehement.
“Vivien attempted suicide?” Julia uttered in a bit of surprise. But Julia’s initial surprise was soon replaced by her deduction of the situation. Her astuteness allowed her to piece together the unfolding events.
‘Vivien truly went to great lengths. No wonder the original host suffered so greatly because of her. She’s not a foe that just anyone can contend with. If that’s the case, Carter probably isn’t aware of the result of the video verification yet,‘ Julia surmised.
“Why aren’t you talking? Feeling guilty? Julia, listen to me. You’d better come and apologize to Vivien. If not, I’ll call the police and have you arrested!” Liñan’s voice dripped with aggression.
Julia regarded Lilian with an air of indifference. “Arrest me? Ha ha! If you have evidence, by all means, call the police. If you lack evidence right now, then kindly leave. This is my residence, my domain. If you persist in causing a disturbance, I won’t hesitate to summon the security guards to escort you off the premises.”
“Amusing! This is your home? Your territory? Can you even afford to buy a house here? Don’t think I’m oblivious. You’re nothing but a lowly servant!” Lilian’s words dripped with disdain.
Julia found little reason to engage further with Lilian’s irrational behavior. Pulling out her phone, she dialed the residential complex’s security guards,
As the security guards arrived, they flanked Lilian from both sides and swiftly led her away.
“What are you doing? I’m also a resident here! Let go of me!” Lilian continued to resist and shout, her voice diminishing as she was escorted away.
“Move a bit farther away,” Julia instructed.
The two security guards complied, ensuring a distance between themselves and Lilian. Guiding her forcefully, they threw her outside the gate of the Purple Garden Manor residential area.
Lilian was dumped onto the ground and ended up in a rather indecent position.
Upon Carter’s arrival, he was met with the sight of Lilian seated on the ground, her appearance disheveled, and her curses directed at Julia.
“Carter, you’re here at last! It was those two who threw me out!” Lilian pointed accusingly at the security guards who had just escorted her out.
With a cold expression, Carter asked, “Why did you do this?”
“Sorry, this was ordered by the major shareholder. No one is allowed to cause trouble within the scope of Villa 8,” one of the security guards explained.
Hearing this, Carter was surprised and puzzled.
“Who’s the owner of Villa 8?” he asked, frowning.
“Sorry, but it’s confidential. We can not disclose such details to anyone,” the same security guard

responded.
Seeing that the security guard was not willing to reveal more information, Carter opted not to press the matter further. Nonetheless, one thing became apparent to him: the owner of Villa 8 held substantial influence.
Indeed, Julia was fortunate to serve in Villa 8. Nevertheless, she remained a maid and, inevitably, subordinate to others.
Julia, Julia, your character is becoming increasingly sinister,‘ Carter mused.
As time passed, the weekend arrived, and Julia accompanied Jared to the movie theater.
“It feels like it’s been a while since I last watched a movie,” Julia remarked.
“Same here,” Jared agreed.
Julia turned to Jared and asked, “When was the last time you watched a movie?”
Jared furrowed his brows, deep in thought. After a moment, he responded, “When I was seven and a half years old.”
Julia regarded Jared with a mixture of surprise and curiosity, pondering, ‘Did he really have such a deprived childhood? Could his circumstances have been that dire?‘
After a while, she thought, ‘Wait, is his true intention of bringing me to the movies actually so he can experience it himself? Well, if that’s the case, I’ll happily watch a movie with him.‘”
Before entering the theater, Julia excused herself, saying, “I’ll use the restroom first.”
Jared nodded in acknowledgment, and Julia made her way inside, leaving Jared waiting outside. Given the usual long lines at the women’s restroom, Julia patiently waited her turn. During her time in line, she noticed that people of all ages couldn’t help but steal glances at Jared. His striking appearance seemed to captivate both genders.
Once her restroom break was complete, Julia prepared to exit when she spotted Yasmin engaged in a conversation with Jared..
“Hey, your relationship with Julia is just for show, right?” Yasmin asked.
