Chapter 233: Want to be Punished By Me Again?
During this particular period, Jared didn’t even exchange greetings with her and directly kissed her. After three seconds, he released Julia’s lips and gazed deeply into her eyes, which were now misty with emotion.
“You better start moving, or I might have to punish you,” he said seductively.
At that moment, Julia couldn’t see the affectionate expression in Jared’s eyes, but she could sense it in his voice. She decided not to move, partly because she was currently supported by his hand, and any movement might lead to an accident. Additionally, her blurry vision made her feel vulnerable, like a fish on a chopping board, and Jared might think she wanted another kiss if she moved.
So, she allowed him to wash her eyes, feeling some relief from the soreness afterward.
The following morning, as Shiloh stepped out of his room, he noticed the door of Julia’s room was ajar and saw Jared helping her out.
“Your eyes still haven’t fully healed?” Shiloh asked; concern was laced in his tone. He had been present yesterday when Henry had called his brother, so he knew what had happened last night. After a night’s rest, Julia’s vision had improved considerably, although she still saw objects vaguely, equivalent to over a thousand of myopia.
“One more night of rest, and they should be back to normal,” she replied.
“Be careful. We’re going downstairs,” Jared gently said as he carefully assisted Julia down the
stairs.
Watching from upstairs, Shiloh was a bit dumbfounded. Julia’s eyesight might not be at its best, but his brother treated her as if she were a pregnant woman in her last trimester.
He clicked his tongue and thought, ‘Why don’t you just carry her down?”
With that thought in mind, Shiloh sneered and sat at the dining table.
When breakfast was ready, Julia glanced at the dishes spread before her. Although her vision was somewhat blurry, she could manage to eat, albeit with some difficulty.
Just as Julia was contemplating what to do, Jared scooped up a spoonful of caviar and offered it to
her.
“Open your mouth,” he said.
Julia frowned and said, “I can feed myself.”
Raising his brows, Jared retorted, “What? Do you want me to punish you again?”
Her eyes widened when she heard his words. She immediately glanced at Shiloh and smiled wryly. ‘Was this man not embarrassed? Shiloh was still present!‘
However, she knew that Jared was unbothered by Shiloh’s presence.
Shaking her head in resignation, she sighed and decided not to push it further. Since Jared was so kind, she would take it as if she had hired a nanny. Forcing a smile, she reluctantly parted her lips and chewed the food.
The taste was exquisite. A spoonful of caviar was worth more than a thousand bucks, so that it couldn’t be anything but delicious.
Unbothered, Jared continued to feed Julia with extreme patience and tenderness.
Meanwhile, Shiloh retracted his gaze at his brother and stared at his food, suddenly losing his

appetite, or more accurately, tired of the public display of affection.
After lunch, Julia’s phone rang. Her brows furrowed when she saw the caller was Maddie. As soon as the call got connected, Maddie exclaimed, “Karla got what she deserved! She used such underhanded methods against us! I bet she didn’t expect that she would end up shooting herself in the foot! Serves her right!”
Hearing her words, Julia suddenly remembered what happened last night.
Then Maddie continued, “After your husband took you away, all the old geezers turned their attention to Karla. Her fate was undoubtedly miserable, and the atmosphere inside the private room had turned brutal. Everything was in chaos.”
“And to make matters worse, before anyone could leave the room, the police had arrived, and reporters that Karla called followed suit,” she added.
Naturally, Maddie had known all those things because the reporters had exposed everything that had transpired in the club. Karla was also arrested. The spike drink she prepared for Julia was laced with a substantial dose of drugs. She mistakenly drank it, so when the police apprehended her, she lashed out like a madman. The police didn’t want to hurt her, but they had no choice but to strike her with a baton to subdue her.
Now, the most discussed topic on the internet revolves around Karla’s scandal. She was caught with eighteen old–geezers doing intimate activities, and all those men were in their early fifties and notably unattractive.
The netizens couldn’t help but express comments about Karla’s peculiar tastes.
As Julia listened to Maddie, she pondered over last night’s situation. She suspected there might be someone pulling the strings behind Karla’s actions.
Karla was quite simple–minded, and she undoubtedly couldn’t orchestrate such a complex plan alone, let alone have the courage to execute it. Julia had a hunch that Cameron might be involved in this matter.
At that moment, she suddenly recalled the time when Maddie had been kidnapped and sent to Jordan’s bed. After thinking it through, Julia noticed something common between the two incidents, and that was Maddie.
Even though she wanted to confide her suspicions with Jared, she had no conclusive evidence that would
prove Cameron had a hand in those two incidents.
Sighing, she suddenly thought of her brother. Karla was Conrad’s ex–fiancée, and her brother had deeply loved her before. Now that this matter had spread all over the media, Julia wondered about Conrad’s reaction.
With that in mind, she heaved a deep breath and dialed his number.
Shortly after, the call was connected.
“Hello, Julia? What’s up?” Conrad’s gentle voice rang at the other end of the line.
“Nothing in particular, just wondering if the company has been keeping you busy lately,” Inhaling sharply, Julia squeezed out a reply, trying to gauge his emotional state.
“Well, it’s fine,” he replied.
Julia couldn’t discern much from that response but didn’t want to end the call abruptly. After a brief silence, she cautiously broached the topic, “Uhm, Brother… have you heard about Karla’s scandal?”

Upon hearing this, Conrad immediately understood why Julia called him.
“I no longer have any connection with her, and her actions have nothing to do with me,” he responded casually. However, in truth, when he came across the trending news about Karla that morning, it stirred emotions within him.
Rather than feeling hurt, it was more accurate to say he felt a deep sense of nostalgia. Once upon a time, during the passionate days of their relationship, he had envisioned a future for them, and it never crossed his mind that this would happen to Karla after their breakup.
‘Sure enough, people’s hearts are indeed the most difficult to guess,‘ he mused.
“That’s good then,” Julia commented.
She could sense the undertone of nostalgia in Conrad’s words. Not she could blame him, though. After all, it was natural for anyone to feel disturbed upon learning about their former partner’s disgusting actions after their breakup.
Time flew past, and another day had passed. That morning, when Julia woke up, her eyes had fully recovered.
After washing up, Julia went downstairs and caught sight of Jared, clad in a black suit, talking to Joseph. Her eyes narrowed when she saw a bouquet of white chrysanthemums in Joseph’s hands. Sashaying toward him, Julia asked Jared, “Where are you off to?”
“Paying homage to a friend,” Jared replied.
Julia contemplated for a moment before guessing, “Juju?”
Jared’s brow furrowed, but he nodded. Then he glanced at his watch and said, “I should be going. I have some afternoon plans, so I’ll come back for dinner.”
“I’ll come with you then!” Julia exclaimed. However, as soon as her words fell, she saw a trace of embarrassment flashed across Jared’s face.
“Sorry, but you can’t.” He sighed.
