Chapter 207: The Revelation About Julia’s Husband
‘Boss? Who’s the boss he’s referring to?‘ Lorelei asked herself.
On the quiet street, a sleek black Maybach parked in front captured everyone’s attention. Lorelei and her family stared wide–eyed at the car, a mix of curiosity and trepidation evident in their
gaze.
Who had they unintentionally provoked?
Then and there, the car door opened, revealing a man with a cold and aloof demeanor.
Upon seeing him, Lorelei’s jaw dropped in disbelief, and her mouth formed a perfect O.
She had it all wrong! So absurdly and ludicrously mistaken!
Everything was wrong with the stories she’d been telling herself and the rumors she believed in. Julia was not tied to some unattractive older man or entangled in scandal. Like a sparrow turning into a phoenix, she had been adopted into a family of extraordinary wealth.
Nervously, Lorelei swallowed. Her face turned as white as paper. Shaking, she stepped out of the car. Her legs couldn’t support her anymore, and she found herself kneeling in front of the man–Jared Brooks.
“I’m so sorry! I was mistaken! I was blind! It’s all my fault!” Lorelei exclaimed. In her desperation to show genuine remorse, she slapped herself. The sound echoed, almost as if she were hitting a piece of metal.
She couldn’t afford to hold back. Lorelei may not have known who Jared was, but the row of luxurious cars and the intimidating group of bodyguards were enough for her to understand his influential standing. Jared’s aura alone made her feel nothing but fear and awe.
In her distress, Lorelei couldn’t help but resent Yasmin. Yasmin had confidently said that Julia’s husband was nothing but scum, which gave Lorelei the courage to insult him.
But now, faced with Jared’s presence, Lorelei realized the gravity of her actions. She had underestimated the extent of his influence and now feared the consequences of her impulsive
words.
“I’m so sorry! I beg you, please forgive me! I shouldn’t have said those things. I was so wrong. Please, let me go!” she pleaded.
Jared, his face stoic and unyielding, regarded Lorelei coolly. “Your mistake was more than just insulting me.”
The realization hit Lorelei instantly. She then remembered the scene outside the hotel earlier on. Jared knelt down in the softly falling snow to tie Julia’s shoes. Everything he did was full of warmth and care. Once, she laughed it off, assuming it was all for show as Julia paid him. However, keeping that view now would be an act of willful ignorance. The truth was that Jared loved his wife very much and wouldn’t let anyone hurt Julia’s reputation.
As Lorelei considered Julia, she felt a twinge of envy and jealousy. It was no longer possible to harbor resentment. There was no reason for her to have those feelings at that moment.
“I’ll apologize,” Lorelei said hurriedly, fishing out her phone. “I’ll call Julia and apologize right this
moment.”
As Julia entered the mansion, her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID, and her expression turned to surprise. It was Lorelei calling, and Julia hesitated for a moment before answering.

Chapter 207: The Revelation About Julia’s Husband
“Why is Lorelei calling? I thought her family left Monroe.”
Lorelei’s voice, full of regret, came out of the phone before Julia could even ask her. “Julia, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have spoken about you like that. I didn’t mean any harm to your entire family. It was just a rash statement of anger. Please don’t blame me. Considering our history as classmates, I beg you! I will publicly apologize to you on social media and in our class group chat right now!” Confused, Julia pondered why Lorelei seemed even more frightened now than when they had clashed face–to–face earlier. The fear seemed to come from deep within her. What could she possibly be so scared of?
Just then, her phone pinged. A notification from WhatsApp indicated a new message. Lorelei was publicly apologizing. She was calling herself out, admitting she deserved a slap for her loose tongue, and hoping for Julia’s forgiveness.
Then another message came in. This time, it was from Maddie. “Julia, check the group chat!
There’s news!”
Julia didn’t need to read the messages to guess what was happening. When she opened the class group chat, she saw Lorelei’s message tagging everyone. “I’m sorry, Julia. I should never have insulted your husband, calling him a gigolo and comparing him to James Deen, a famous male pornstar. I had too much to drink and spoke irresponsibly. Please forgive me!”
The chat was filled with Lorelei’s string of apologies, each seeming more earnest than the last. Everyone in the group was stunned. To many, Lorelei had always been assertive during their school days. The very idea of her admitting a mistake was almost unthinkable.
Yet here she was, apologizing not once but multiple times, both privately and publicly.
So when they saw her message apologizing to Julia in their group chat, they were utterly bewildered.
They remembered a warning their class president had given them earlier: ‘If you want to keep living in peace in Monroe City, don’t cross Julia’s husband!‘
At first, many were skeptical. Especially after Lorelei accused Jared, Julia’s husband, of being a gigolo while claiming that the class president was lying to protect Julia. Back then, they sided with Lorelei.
But now, witnessing her public apologies, they wondered if the class monitor had been telling the truth all along.
A few classmates tried to reach out privately to the class monitor, seeking more details about Julia’s husband.
Whispers and private chats flooded in. “Who exactly is Julia’s husband?” one asked.
The class leader’s response was ominous. “Better you don’t know. Or you might end up like Lorelei.”
Just after that, Lorelei’s presence online went dark.
– One particularly inquisitive classmate even took it upon himself to visit Lorelei’s house. To his
astonishment, the place was empty. Lorelei and her family had moved out overnight. Her sudden disappearance left everyone bewildered.
Inquiries about her circumstances began to surge in their

Chapter 207: The Revelation About Julia’s Husband
[Is it because of Julia’s husband?]
Despite their continuous prying, no one dared to answer their questions. They knew that asking more questions was bringing them closer to digging their own grave. Fueling Lorelei’s absence, rumors spread rapidly in Monroe City that she had left town. Her family’s factory was gone in an instant, and even her wealthy girlfriend had distanced from her. After everything that happened, Julia’s classmate was even more afraid to cross Julia and Jared.
Those who had mocked the couple the previous night were particularly nervous, fearing they might be the next Lorelei.
As dawn’s light pierced through the curtains, Julia’s phone rang, jolting her from her thoughts.
It was Maddie on the line.
“Julia, what’s going on? Who on earth is he? Your husband is so powerful! He’s so powerful, forcing Lorelei and her family to leave Monroe!” Maddie’s voice was a mix of shock and curiosity. Julia hesitated. She wasn’t prepared for such probing questions this early. “I’m not entirely sure, Maddie. But, speaking of meetings, aren’t you scheduled for a pregnancy check–up this Saturday? Is Henry joining you?”
It was a strategic diversion that Julia hoped would work. She had to be careful. Revealing Jared’s true identity as the Brook family’s heir could lead to unwarranted complications, especially with Henry in the same circle.
Maddie huffed, clearly frustrated with Henry. “Look, if you’re thinking of coming along, just know I don’t want him there. I get this vibe that he’s only interested in my triplets, like he’s planning to take them or something. And that’s a hard no for me, Julia.”
Julia let out a silent sigh of relief, thankful for the change in conversation. “Alright then, I’ll be there with you on Saturday. Anyway, I’ve gotta run. There’s something I have to take care of.”
Maddie began. “But, Julia, about Lorelei-”
Julia quickly hung up the phone. As she slipped her phone into her pocket, her mind raced, connecting the dots between Lorelei’s abrupt exit and Jared’s potential involvement.
Lost in thought, a sudden wheezing sound snapped her back to reality. As she turned her attention back to the street, she noticed a man struggling to breathe by the roadside.
‘Was he having an asthma attack?‘ Julia pondered.
Curious, she then moved closer to get a better look.
“Oh God! It’s him!”
