Chapter 177: Julia’s Morning Sickness?
Cameron felt caught in a dilemma. She wasn’t sure whether Jordan actually owned a phone, and she was too afraid to make a bet about it. The reason was that if she lost the bet and Jared discovered her connection with Jordan, she would be utterly doomed.
After much contemplation and careful consideration, Cameron came to a decision.
“Fine, I agree with your condition. But if you have kept a backup or the video leaks out after a month, just know that your fate will be worse than death, Jordan!” Cameron warned, showing strong determination while gritting her teeth.
“Don’t worry, it’s only a month. It’s a fair agreement. I promise there won’t be assured.
any trickery,” Jordan
With that settled, Jordan impatiently positioned Cameron under him. The room occasionally echoed with muffled sounds of pain.
Meanwhile, Julia was seated on the couch, calling Maddie. The moment Maddie picked up, Julia immediately announced, “Maddie, I’ve already avenged you.”
Maddie’s heart raced with excitement. She eagerly asked, “Really? Who did it? Did you find out?” Smugly, Julia responded, “Yes, I did. But please keep this between us, okay?”
“Sure, I won’t tell anyone. Now tell me quickly. Who was it?” Maddie impatiently inquired, unable to wait any longer.
“It’s Cameron,” Julia revealed.
Upon hearing this, Maddie’s anger surged, and her face twisted in frustration.
“I knew it! It had to be her! I’ve been grounded by my parents recently, so I haven’t had any conflicts with anyone. The only issue was that night at the bar when I had an argument with Cameron. It’s too much of a coincidence. If it’s not her, then who else could it be?” Maddie concluded decisively.
Maddie’s frustration only grew as she spoke. She couldn’t understand why there could be such malicious people in this world. It was just a few words of conflict, yet they were ready to condemn her to an irredeemable fate.
She contemplated the situation, questioning why a fellow woman should cause suffering to another woman. The injustice of it all weighed heavily on her mind.
Once Maddie’s anger subsided somewhat, she recalled Julia’s initial statement. “By the way, Julia, how did you get revenge for me?” she inquired, intrigued.
Julia casually picked up an orange from the table and began peeling it. “I simply made them taste
their own medicine.”
“Wow! Impressive! As expected of you, Julia!” Maddie said, raising her thumbs toward the empty air as if Julia could see it.
“Anyway, now that I’ve avenged you, try to relax. Remember, you’re pregnant, Maddie. Take care of yourself and avoid letting negative emotions overwhelm you. It’s not good for the baby,” Julia advised, enjoying her peeled orange while sitting comfortably.
Maddie reacted playfully, pursing her lips like a scolded child. “Oh, don’t make such a fuss, Julia! Let’s see how you handle things when you get pregnant in the future.”
Julia immediately dismissed the notion of pregnancy with a scoff. “Pregnant? That’s not happening anytime soon. I won’t-” Julia began to retort, but her words were cut off by an
unexpected wave of nausea.
Maddie’s eyes lit up as soon as she heard Julia retch. She exclaimed, “Oh my God, Julia! Are pregnant? That’s morning sickness! I remember it well.”

In the midst of her surprise, Maddie secretly hoped that Julia was indeed pregnant, as they could then share the experience together.
Julia rolled her eyes silently, rejecting the idea. “There’s no way I could-”
But her sentence was interrupted as a realization dawned upon her.
Swiftly catching on, Maddie grew excited. “Julia, you better confess honestly. I told you, you can’t lie to me!”
Julia felt a bit bewildered at this point. Her heart raced as she contemplated, ‘Could it be that Maddie and I are the same? Can I easily get pregnant in just one try?‘

Despite considering it highly unlikely, Julia decided to verify the situation. She set the down and glanced at her wrist, mentally calculating the dates. Even if she were truly pregnant, experiencing morning sickness so soon would be unusual. Nonetheless, Julia acknowledged that everyone’s body was different and that there existed a rare minority that could be unique. “Julia, have you already checked your pulse? Do it now, quick!” Maddie urged anxiously over the phone. Her excitement now surpassed even the moment she first learned about her own
pregnancy.
After biting her fingertip slightly, Julia positioned her two fingers on her pulse.
At that precise moment, the melancholic notes of a cello resonated from upstairs.
“Is your stomach acting up again?” a deep voice echoed suddenly.
Caught off guard, Julia swiftly withdrew her hand. In truth, her reaction hadn’t needed to be so abrupt, for it would only heighten the man’s suspicions.
Nonetheless, a sense of guilt overtook her momentarily, rendering her unable to maintain her
composure.
Because of that, Jared narrowed his deep gaze slightly, focusing on Julia’s wrist. He pondered why Julia appeared so flustered and nervous upon being caught sneaking an orange. As such, he thought, ‘Is she hiding something from me?”
“I’m… I’m fine. I was just lost in thought, and your sudden voice startled me,” Julia reasoned, forcing a calm smile at Jared.
“Oh, and my stomach doesn’t hurt,” Julia added, stuffing the remaining half of the orange into her
mouth.
Seeing Julia’s puffed–up cheeks, Jared couldn’t help but feel an urge to kiss her.
“Then why were you checking your pulse just now?” he inquired.
“It’s a habit. I check on myself regularly,” Julia replied, settling back onto the sofa. She took out her phone and idly scrolled through it, attempting to divert the man’s attention.
Before long, a sudden shriek escaped Julia’s lips.
“Oh my God!” Julia’s eyes widened as she came across an explosive piece of news on her phone. Jared leaned in to catch a glimpse of her screen. However, the moment his eyes landed on the image, his usually cold expression turned grim.
In the photo, Julia was wearing a champagne–colored dress with her arms crossed over her chest,

and one of the dress straps had been torn off by a chubby man.
An abrupt chill seemed to rise from the floor, sending a cold draft through the once–warm living room. Within moments, the spacious area seemed to grow distinctly colder.
“What’s going on?” Jared asked, his voice low and devoid of any warmth.
Julia furrowed her brows. This incident was part of the past of the original owner of her body. “About a year ago, I was out for dinner with friends and encountered this man on the way. He invited me to have a drink with him, but I declined. Later, he tore off my dress strap,” Julia explained, recounting the incident.
The memory was vivid–a dangerous encounter that she had narrowly escaped. Had she not reacted quickly, her modesty would have been compromised.
This incident had occurred over a year ago, and she certainly hadn’t anticipated it resurfacing like
this.
Curious about who could be behind this resurgence, Julia scrolled down to read the comments under the post, only to find a barrage of hostile messages.
[I told you all along, Julia is a temptress. Why did no one believe me? Look at her shameless and seductive demeanor. She even took off her dress strap on the street to entice wealthy men.] [Speaking of innocence, I guarantee our Yasmin is innocent. Previously, the Watson family had spread a message saying that on that night, Julia was in the car, too. Although Yasmin was the one driving, it was Julia who caused the accident. Julia and Yasmin had a conflict in the car, and Julia grabbed the steering wheel, which led to the car accident.]
Upon seeing the photo and the comments, Julia quickly grasped the intention behind this act. Someone had posted the image to generate momentum for Yasmin’s release from prison, ensuring her smooth reentry into the entertainment industry after serving her sentence.
The entertainment industry was known for its complexity–innocence could be twisted into guilt, and the guilty could manipulate circumstances into excuses. This reality troubled Julia as she considered the implications.
What puzzled Julia was how this photo was leaked in the first place.
Suddenly, a memory flashed in Julia’s mind. She blurted out, “I know who’s behind this!”
Jared looked at her, his confusion evident. He guessed, “Someone from the Watson family?”
“No.” Julia shook her head and continued, “On the night this happened, Carter received an anonymous photo with a threat. The sender demanded one million, threatening to release this photo online for everyone to know I was having an affair with another man.”
As soon as Jared heard the name “Carter,” his expression turned unpleasant.
Julia hadn’t finished speaking yet and continued, “Interestingly enough, after Carter paid the demanded amount to the sender, he confronted the person who had harassed me. Surprisingly, that person turned out to be the chairman of an overseas company. To avoid causing offense, the matter was dropped. Later, I discovered that Ross Corporation actually entered into collaboration with that overseas company. Quite the twist, isn’t it?”
It was indeed quite ironic. Despite being engaged, Carter hadn’t only failed to defend his fiancée when she was harassed, but he had also chosen to cooperate with the harasser.
Jared remained silent on the sofa, enveloped by an unseen, icy tension.
“So you suspect that Carter did this?” he speculated.

“No, it’s not him,” Julia answered, her voice resolute.
Unbeknownst to Julia, her tone and words seemed to exude absolute trust in Carter for Jared, which sparked a twinge of jealousy in the latter’s heart.
“Are you so sure?” he asked, his voice tinged with tension.
Julia nodded firmly. “Yes. Despite how he treated me poorly before, I can say with certainty that Carter wouldn’t resort to such actions to harm me. He-”
“That’s enough!” Jared suddenly roared, unable to listen any further.
