Chapter 116: Coaxing a Man
When Julia heard that word escape his mouth, she could feel how the pressure in the room became heavier and how coldness brewed in the air.
Seeing his face etched with disregard and coldness, she could not help but recall what happened earlier. When she chased after Alexander rather than staying with Jared, she realized that he must be that angry to act this way now.
“You must be mad,” she uttered between their silence.
However, the man didn’t speak and just looked away from her, refusing their eyes to meet.
Once again, the living room became quiet. From where Shiloh was standing, he could see what was happening. Jared seemed like a king disregarding his servant, who was willingly waiting for a reaction from him.
The more the silence provoked, the more Julia thought that it would be better if she let his anger subside first.
“Then I’ll go first.”
After that chilly encounter, she turned around and walked towards the door. Julia’s head was hurting, thinking of how to coax the man tomorrow.
The woman’s actions almost broke Jared’s cold facade. His lips turned into a grim line, and he could feel the bulging anger rising in his chest.
“That’s it? She’s just leaving?‘
‘She won’t even coax me?‘
“Stop right there!”
Upon hearing how his voice thundered, Julia stopped and turned to look at him.
Now that Jared had stopped her from going, she misunderstood that it might indicate that he was not as mad as she imagined. Thinking of this, Julia was overjoyed and hurried back, walking up to Jared.
“Look, Jared. I didn’t leave you there on purpose. It’s just that I know Alexander, and I know his tendencies whenever he becomes impulsive. It’s a good thing that I chased after him because he went straight on the road without even caring! If I hadn’t followed him, something would have happened!”
Although Julia’s expression was slightly exaggerated when she explained, it was also evident that the woman was not lying.
“He proposed to you.” Jared looked at Julia and said coldly, “On this special day, Valentine’s Day, 1 also propose to you in person.”
The truth was, that was what he cared the most about.
“Okay, I’ll explain. First of all, I forgot that today is Valentine’s Day. If I knew, I would not even think of going out and eating with him! Second, it didn’t even occur to me that he would confess like that. Besides, he often does that. I’ve become immune to his antics. And don’t worry, Jared. Earlier, I clarified things with him and told him I would never have any feelings for him. Although…” She stopped and blinked for a while. “Well, he still insisted that he would try to court me until I find someone I truly care about. I can’t do anything about that.”
All Julia blurted out was the truth, and she sincerely informed him. Just like she promised, she would never lie to him.

Chapter 116. Coaxing a Man
Jared squinted his eyes for seconds before he opened his mouth to speak, “You forgot that today is Valentine’s Day?”
“Yes, I don’t know! I’ve never celebrated Valentine’s Day before, so how could I remember it?” Julia defended herself and said nothing but the truth before she shrugged her shoulders.
Jared stared at Julia with a hint of doubt, “Have you and Carter ever celebrated before?”
Julia’s pupils suddenly dilated. Yes, she never had a lover in her previous life, but the original owner of her body and Carter might have already celebrated Valentine’s Day.
At that moment, Jared smelled something fishy from Julia’s trance.
“Ahem–don’t mention him. Mentioning him spoils the mood.” Julia changed the subject with a smile, “Are you not angry now?”
Jared slightly raised his chin and pressed his thin lower lips tightly. He looked like he was thinking deeply.
“Well, I’m still angry.”
Upon hearing what he said, the woman suddenly thought of something.
“Then close your eyes,” she whispered.
‘And what? She’s going to kiss me?‘
‘Is she thinking that a kiss can ease my anger? What am I? A child?‘ He thought.
“Close your eyes quickly.” Julia reached out to cover Jared’s
eyes.
When she was about to cover his eyes using her hand, he grabbed it, not letting her do it. Instead, he leaned back and closed his eyes.
After his vision dimmed, he stood there and waited.
In his mind, he believed that a kiss would indeed do. But it still depended on how long Julia would kiss him. He jokingly thought he would love them to kiss for half an hour.
‘No!‘
‘At least one hour of kissing,‘ he bargained with his eyes closed.
Looking at the scene downstairs, Shiloh heaved a sigh of relief and, at the same time, planned to close the door so as not to witness any overly sweet scene.
Just when Shiloh was about to close the door, Julia reached into her pocket, took out a bar of chocolate, peeled it off, and stuffed it into Jared’s mouth.
“Are you not angry now?”
The moment she did that, a wave of silence fell over them.
Deep inside, Jared was aggravated. ‘She didn’t want a kiss? Why didn’t she play her cards well! He frowned at the thought of that.
“Since I forgot that today is Valentine’s Day, here’s a chocolate for you,” she told him.
Just an hour ago, while she was outside, she saw a young couple buying chocolate at the convenience store, so Julia thought she needed to buy some to ease the man’s anger.
“How is it? Is this chocolate delicious?”
The truth was, Jared hated sweets, and he would rather have her luscious lips.
But…
Rolling in his mouth was the melting chocolate the woman bought thinking of him, and thinking

that she bought particularly for him, he felt that he would at least accept it.
“Come to my room tonight.”
“Huh?” Julia’s eyes widened.
‘Now way,‘ she thought. She couldn’t believe she would sacrifice even her body.
Undoubtedly, the Little Jade Buddha was indeed important, but she didn’t think she could handle it if asked to sacrifice that kind of thing just for the mission.
“I just want you to come to my room and sleep on my bed, just to sleep,” Jared said emphatically. Yes, they often slept together because he would somehow end up beside the woman whenever he sleepwalked, but right now, if the woman agreed to what he wanted, it would be a different case.
“Just sleep? Are you sure we’re not doing anything else?” Julia asked for confirmation.
The corners of his mouth lifted. “What? Are you expecting us to do something else? Well, say it, and I’ll satisfy you.”
“No, no, let’s just sleep. That’s fine.” Julia quickly waved her hands and took a step back.
It was a good thing that they would sleep and nothing more. Also, even if Julia disagreed, he would still sleepwalk and end up beside her.
In the back of her mind, she found it strange that the man would always end up beside her whenever he sleepwalked.
‘Could it be an act?‘ She wondered.
Julia felt that this possibility was not a mere coincidence, but later on, when Shiloh told her that Jared had a history of sleepwalking, she believed his explanation.
She did not only ask Shiloh but also Joseph, and Joseph informed her that whenever his boss was tired of working, he tended to sleepwalk at night.
Regardless of whether it was true, Jared just slept with his arms around her and did nothing substantive to her.
That was when she decided it would be better to pay no heed to that matter for now.
Withdrawing her thoughts, Julia looked up and down the living room for a while. She could still see fiery red roses everywhere.
“Those… did you prepare it for me?”
Jared stood up from the sofa, staring at Julia with deep eyes, “The plan is to make your Valentine’s Day memorable, but you surprised me instead. You made this day unforgettable for me.”
The woman was speechless but gathered her thoughts abruptly.
Julia blinked. The man was obviously still a little bit upset about Alexander.
“Are you sleepy now? I want to take you to a place.” Julia planned to give Jared an unforgettable Valentine’s Day.
“Where to?”
“Let’s go. You’ll know when we go there.”
After speaking, Julia grabbed Jared’s hand and quickly left the villa.
Shiloh was left alone at the place when both of them left. He overviewed the villa full of roses.
Until now, the man was still speechless with the effort and twitched the corners of his mouth. Then, he closed the door seeing nothing but the dogs playing in the room.

On the other hand, thirty minutes later, Julia brought Jared to the mountains in the suburbs. They could see the panoramic view of the city’s neon lights.
“Isn’t it nice? I liked coming here when I was young. It’s quiet, and the scenery is good. It’s just—”
She stopped and slapped in one place. “It’s just that there are too many mosquitoes.”
Julia scratched. “It’s a loss. I forgot to use mosquito spray when we went out.”
When Julia finished speaking, she saw Jared remove his suit and shirt.
