Chapter 11: Embarrassment
“Yes,” Julia nodded as she answered.
Conrad tried to read Julia’s expression for a while but couldn’t see any signs of lying on
her face. That was when he realized that she was telling the truth.
“Please rest well. I promise to cure your face in a month,” Julia promised.
Conrad opened his mouth slightly, choking up his words, unable to say anything. His tears stayed in the corners of his
eyes.
“Rest first. This is just an ordinary ward and unsuitable for you to recuperate. I’ll find someone to transfer you to the VIP ward first,” she uttered while helping her brother lie down.
Philip, their father, was no doubt ruthless. He was a company boss, yet he let his son stay at a régular ward.
“Julia, here…” he handed his card. “It contains ten thousand dollars that I have saved.” He took it under his pillow.
Julia felt a surge of sadness as she looked at the card in his hand.
Conrad was the eldest son of the Watson Family. Although he disfigured himself, he had been helping Philip in the company. The result was so tragic that he finally saved a few thousand dollars.
Last month, she could still recall that Yasmin brought a Chanel bag with the same
amount.
“Don’t worry, okay? Just keep the card. I have money.”
“But-” She cut him off.
“It used to be you who always protected me. Now it’s my turn to help you. Believe in me, okay? I have ways,” Julia told him and stared straight at Conrad, her eyes full of resilience.
Conrad moved his mouth slightly, intending to say something, but seeing Julia’s serious demeanor, he couldn’t help but believe her.
“Okay, then I’ll let you take care of me, Julia.”
Julia’s face bloomed with a heartfelt smile.
After accompanying Conrad for lunch, she returned to the Villa of the Brooks family. When she arrived at the villa entrance, she saw Jared kick the person kneeling hard and kicking him down.
She just arrived, yet she already witnessed the man’s dangerous and bloodthirsty appearance, as if he were a demon king from the resounding hell.
Speaking of it, it was because of Jared’s temper that made her release her vigilance in the past two days.
Who was Jared? He was a big shot who made his way alone and became influential in
the North!
How could one become the head of the Brooks family without swift and resolute means and execution?
Just thinking of what had occurred yesterday, she felt creep crawling in her skin when she pressed her body against his.
Fortunately, Jared didn’t argue with her. Otherwise, she might have been directly kicked out, making her goal unachievable.
While thinking about it, she heard his cold and gloomy voice rang out.
“Tell me, who instructed you to bump into my brother back then?”
Upon hearing that, her eyes widened, and Julia–looked curiously inside.
Her mind was filled with a lot of things. The car accident of Shiloh was not an accident; someone planned it! She could not believe it!
Who was so bold and dared to mess with Jared’s younger brother? Did that person have a death wish?
The bloody man knelt on the ground and repeatedly begged for mercy, “No one asked me to do it; it was all because I was drunk, Mr. Brooks. Please, believe me. I’m so sorry for your brother. I was wrong. Please spare my life, please.”
Jared squinted at Zeth, the man before him, with darkness in his eyes, without a hint of human warmth.
“I have had someone check that you are just an ordinary taxi driver, but just two days. before the accident, you suddenly received a transfer of half a million dollars in your account.”
Upon hearing this, Zeth’s heart suddenly thumped, and his whole body trembled. “My, my – my friend – transferred it to me.”
As soon as Zeth finished speaking, Jared kicked onto his shoulder again, and his big leather shoes made a bone–creaking sound.”
“Ah!” Zeth screamed like a pig.
“Your friend? Do you have a friend who can transfer half a million dollars to you? I have had someone investigate, and none of your friends or relatives have the financial ability to transfer that much money to you.” As Jared spoke, he stepped on the man in
anger.
“Ab!” He wailed. “It was an accident. No one order- no one ordered me to-” Zeth, the taxi driver, shouted, but was too weakened to continue. His eyes rolled over, and he fainted to death.
