Chapter 124: Jennifer Has Nothing to Do with Our Family
He knew Mae hated him, of course, but he had always been convinced that she loved him–that she loved him enough to tolerate everything about him.
It was this kind of confidence that made him make this decision, but it also ended up pulling him farther and farther away from Mae.
Rebecca saw that Mark was not speaking as if he were trapped in some strange thought, so she spoke up and called out, “Mark?
Mark regained his senses, and the ripples under his eyes were hidden by his motionlessness. “Uh, indeed.”
He answered absentmindedly under his breath and said nothing more, lowering his eyes to continue eating his breakfast.
Rebecca did not give up and still wanted to say something but saw her son’s face suddenly become unpleasant and swallowed back the words that were trying to get out of her lips.
It’s better to wait for the old master to come back and talk about it.
In the afternoon, David Meyer and Victoria also brought their three–month–old son.
The two old masters‘ private plane arrived at the Smith family’s special runway at four o’clock that
afternoon.
In addition to the old man and old lady, there were several attendants who specialized in taking care
of their medical and life needs.
Over the years, because Mrs. Smith’s health was not good, Mr. Smith had accompanied her to a quiet farm abroad to recuperate.
They never came back except for coming back once that year to attend Mark’s wedding.
This year, the old lady’s health had improved a lot. She missed her grandchildren again, so she made a fuss about going back to celebrate the Christmas together.
“Dad, Mom.”
“Grandpa, Grandma.”
Old Mr. Smith was over eighty this year and looked quite strong, Old Mrs. Smith was a bit thinner even after taking good care of her health in recent years due to her previous illness.
The
group entered the living room and sat down. The servants had already prepared refreshments.
Old Mr. Smith was happily holding Victoria’s three–month–old son, bumping into Mark in the process.
“You are a few years older than your sister and your sister has already given birth to a son. How about you? When would you let me hold a great–grandson?”
Mark, seeing the old man, moved his face a little, but didn’t say anything.
And seeing the opportunity, Rebecca quickly gathered her thoughts and said:
“Dad, it’s true. I’m worried to death about him. He’s busy working all the time, so how could he work on other things? I also told him this morning that our house is so big. There were not many people and it made it quiet and cold. How could we look like this on Christmas Eve?”
Rebecca said, her eyes quietly sizing up the old man and the two of them, and continued:
“If you ask me, a family needs to have children to be lively.”
Victoria turned to look at her own mother. She knew exactly what her mother was thinking.
She did not know if Jennifer gave her some kind of magic soup, to let her get married to the Smith family.
There were signs of that a few years ago. Jennifer stopped when she had a boyfriend last year, but it hadn’t been long since her boyfriend had an accident and Jennifer had an idea to do it again.
Her ambition was written on her face, couldn’t she see it?
“Huh!”
Victoria laughed coldly. Yes, having a child would make life livelier. It would have to be big brother’s
own child.”
She had wanted to stab Mark for forcing Mae to abort his child back then, but when she thought that it was Christmas Eve and her grandparents had just returned. She did not want to make the scene too awkward, so she changed her mind.
However, Rebecca looked at Victoria with an unhappy look and said, “Victoria, are you saying that as long as there are children in the family, it will be lively? Do you still need to distinguish whose children. it is?”
Victoria rolled her eyes directly.
She had argued with her mother a few times in the past because her mother had made things difficult for Mae a few times, and then when she left, she felt that Mae was relieved.
Even though she was Mrs. Smith’s own daughter, she really couldn’t stand her mother’s behavior as a mother–in–law.
Old Mr. Smith didn’t know what his daughter–in–law had in mind but just heard her say it and
agreed
“That’s right, a few more children at home must be lively. Especially this Christmas Eve. A lot of children should be running and jumping at home. How festive would that be…”
Speaking of which, he looked at Victoria and said, “Victoria, you and David put in more effort to have a few more kids. Don’t be like your brother. He is already this age and still could not have a son. His wife also ran away.”
Pfft…
Victoria couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
It had to be Grandpa. The first drop of blood in this tie was so ferocious.
Some people were afraid that they were not doing well in the past few days. A few days ago, she had received a few photos from the weekly gossip magazines and had suppressed them.
Listening to her, these photos she also gave this bastard to see.
Tsk, tsk tsk.
He must be mad as hell.
Mark was really annoyed inside at that moment, and he did not listen to his grandfather’s words that

were deliberately hitting him, but he couldn’t help but think of Mae’s smiling photos.
Her smile in the airport was like a spring breeze, gentle and sweet. His heart couldn’t help but be a lot more annoyed by this.
Rebecca saw the old man speaking and immediately seized the opportunity to say.
“That’s right, Dad, I also think that the family is a little deserted. Although there are no children at home, there are still many people in the house, right?”
After all, Old Mr. Smith was a person who used to gallop in the business world, and he would not be so stupid and sweet that he could not hear the profundity of his daughter–in–law at this time, so he directly opened the door to the question:
“Do you still have other people coming over to spend the holidays with us?”
Her mother’s family, the Check family, was not big enough to come and celebrate with the Smith family for the holidays. Moreover, if it really was the Check family, it would be normal for a few children from the in–laws to celebrate the holiday, and his daughter–in–law would not talk in a twisted
manner.
Rebecca’s face changed a little when she heard the old man’s question, and she was still thinking about how to organize her speech to sound more natural when she heard Victoria’s question:
“Mom, you don’t want that Jennifer to come to our house for the holidays, do you?”
Being asked so directly by her daughter, Rebecca was a little unhappy inside, always feeling that her daughter’s tone sounded a little contemptuous.
But since she had asked, Rebecca did not hide it and said to the old man:
“Dad, this is what I plan to do. Our family is not too big. One more person is not too much, don’t you think?”
}
Rebecca looked at Old Mr. Smith curtly.
Seeing the old man’s slight frown, he did not rush to approve or disapprove but just asked:
“Who is this Jennifer?”
The old couple’s days abroad over the years have been simple, and they usually did not pay attention to online gossip. He wouldn’t be unsettled to have his grandson watching him at home, so even if Mark and Jennifer often appeared in gossip and entertainment magazines, the old master did not really know about this person.
“She’s…”
“Grandpa, this Jennifer has nothing to do with our family.”
Victoria directly picked up Rebecca’s words.
